I got married on 2/1/20 at Hangar 21 this year. We had Yohan(DJ) and Daniel(MC) for the night and they were great. I knew Yohan from before, so I knew his music would be on point and honestly it was. The MC was able to smoothly transition between the scheduled programs while also keeping the guests engaged and energized! The games were so well hosted and even had the older guests participating and staying almost the whole wedding. Having an MC at our wedding didn't cross our minds at first especially because it's not common in North American weddings. We hired Shine Entertainment for our wedding 9/18/21. We had to postpone our wedding because of COVID-19 and without hesitation, they were willing to change the date. What a fun and entertaining group. We had Yohan as our DJ and Daniel as our Emcee. Months leading up to the wedding, we had Zoom meetings with Yohan and Daniel. Yohan was usually the one leading the conversation and did an excellent job with asking the right questions and giving suggestions. For our last meeting before the wedding, we got into all of our details. When it was Daniel's turn, we had to repeat a lot of what we had already said. It wasn't a huge issue but we wished he was paying attention even if it wasn't his turn. The day of our wedding, every one of our guests absolutely loved Daniel and Yohan. They thought they were our friends because of how personable they were. Everyone also said that Daniel had the perfect radio voice. Our family is so grateful to Shine Entertainment. And I mean everyone there, Allen, Star, and especially MC Daniel and DJ Jason. My two sisters and I threw our parents their 50th wedding anniversary, which was originally a lunch. It morphed into a mini wedding complete with renewal vows at a beautiful country club. We used Daniel and Yohan, Shine Entertainment as our Wedding DJ, MC, and Photo Booth for our February 2021 wedding. The weeks leading up to our wedding were frantic from a planning standpoint, but we felt confident when we submitted our song playlist and instructions that the requests we had made would be taken care of. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. At the beginning of our reception, we were told by our venue to keep the volume down by the venue. I feel like with as much time as there was before our ceremony (which was at the same location) a discussion could have occurred with our venue lead, who was present for the entire day about what the appropriate sound level was. I don't recall there ever being a sound check with the Lead before the event. It was unfortunate that the adjustment had to be made in the middle during the bridal party introductions and literally right before our grand entrance. The introduction instructions we provided for announcing bridal party didn't get announced as we had noted on the worksheet, and the music cues didn't start at the correct times even though we had provided the timing of the songs beforehand. We spent a lot of time coming up with clever ways to introduce our bridal party, but they were just introduced by their first and last names. We weren't able to hear our music as we walked in for our grand entrance and because the song was started at the wrong time, and it sort of made for a quiet, awkward entrance. From there, it seems the music and the event went totally off-script. We spent hours picking out "Must Play Songs" for the reception. The bride and I are big music fans, and some of our best memories together are centered around the music we both enjoy and the concerts we've attended. On the worksheet provided, we listed these songs under the section that said "These songs are special to the Bride and Groom and/or their family and friends, and MUST BE played at some point of the reception." We did not hear a single song from the songs we picked that had special meaning to us and instead everything sort of defaulted to a generic wedding playlist consisting of songs that were not really what we wanted. I think based on our selections on the work sheet, it was apparent that we look at wedding music a bit differently than most people (our recessional song was Post Malone), if a decision was made to default to a generic wedding playlist, we would have loved to have been informed about it and the reason why so that we could make a decision about it on the fly. We had also discussed playing the Shoe Game during the reception, at Shine's instructions, we purchased a number of gift cards and prizes that we had hoped to give out to our guests. Because we were streaming the wedding, we wanted to give something for the people watching the stream to enjoy instead of just watching people eat without anything else going on, we thought that was a great idea to fill the time. The game was cancelled for time and people watching our stream were asking us if we intended to just have a video of people eating. We were disappointed that the gift cards and prizes didn't get used. I think we're willing to overlook the above as just being circumstances that were out of anyone's control, but there was a major cue that didn't get played during the ceremony during the Scripture reading, which ended up making for a bit of an awkward moment all around. Also the music that was played before the ceremony had lyrics when we specifically requested songs be played from an album containing only instrumental songs. The song for the father-daughter dance was played prior to the ceremony, so it had less of an impact when it was played again during the reception. If there was any inability to obtain the songs, we would have been more than happy to provide a spotify link to a playlist with all the songs we requested, but we were never requested for it. The bride's father was also introduced as "Mr." but because he is a Dentist, he should have been introduced as "Doctor." I think our expectation was that when we provided the song worksheet that any issues with our song selections would have brought to our attention so that we could propose an alternative or opportunity to fix it. I will still say that almost everyone has told us that they enjoyed the event and had a good time, it's just these few things that could have gone better in our eyes. We appreciate the work leading up the event but we would ask that you consider that for a lot of people, there is no opportunity to re-do the wedding, so when big changes like this happen or things go off script, it naturally causes some level of disappointment. We did bring these issues to the attention of Allen, and we did get an apology which is why this is not a two-star review. I wish, though, that it was enough to make up for the issues we had at what was supposed to be our most important day. read more

However, when we were introduced to Coby, it was extremely clear from the first conversation that we would go with him. We booked Shine Entertainment for my mother in law's 70th birthday. There were 300 people present so it was a big group. Daniel was our MC, Yohan was our DJ and Shelby was our photo booth attendant. All were spectacular and handled the group wonderfully. From the beginning, Shine Entertainment was very professional and on top of emails. They made really good recommendations on the schedule and games we could play during dinner. There were frequent emails throughout the whole planning process and the MC/DJ were readily available to guide us. On the day of the event, we were behind schedule by 30 minutes but Daniel and Yohan were quick to adapt and were able to get us back on schedule by the end of the night! We worked with MC Coby, DJ Sun, and light specialist John who were the best team we could have ever asked for! We got married at Calamigos Ranch (Oak Room) on March 25, 2021. We had to postpone our original wedding date (due to COVID) and Shine Entertainment was able to accommodate everything with our new date change! We were so thankful to keep them as vendors! (All vendors/guests were COVID tested or vaccinated for our wedding) We met with DJ Coby a couple times (in person before COVID and virtually during COVID) before the wedding to get to know us as a couple, our preferences for the wedding, timeline run through, etc so that everything would happen flawlessly the day of! And we are so incredibly thankful it did! The music was perfect, everything was spot on, no issue with sound/quality, and lighting was absolutely beautiful! MC Coby was the best MC honestly in all of the Korean/American weddings I've been to. He is fluent is both Korean and English which was something we were looking for since our wedding guests were a mix of both. (And traditional older Korean adults so it was a must for our MC to understand and know the Korean language/culture). The entire reception went smoothly, right on time, no awkward moments, and he filled the night with amazing games (we also requested he doesn't make the bride and groom do embarrassing dance moves and definitely respected our wishes)! He made sure people who were giving speeches knew the cue of when their time was coming up or he'd personally walk over to them to communicate. He livened up our reception party which was nice since we didn't have a open dance floor. We had so many guests compliment Shine Entertainment that they were so engaging, respectful, lively, and fun and we couldn't agree more. Thank you Coby for a night we will remember forever and making it happen so perfectly! DJ Sun also did such an incredible job! All of the music choices I picked for the ceremony were right on cue and the sound level was just perfect (we were worried because of the waterfall noise/outdoor open space). During the reception, I could tell him and MC Coby communicated well to make sure music was played at the right time and faded out when Coby spoke. He even played background music for my MOH's speech that just made the whole mood come together (with tears of course). I cannot recommend Shine Entertainment enough. If you're looking for a wedding coordinator and MC, you must ask for Patricia. Super professional, incredibly detail oriented. On my wedding day, I didn't have to worry about anything. I felt like she had my back and I knew that she was handling all the vendors without having to stress me out.
