Incredible experience ... Not only did this team go above and beyond to ensure that I could rent what I needed to for a short-term, out-of-town engagement, but they literally spent an hour walking me through how to correctly hook up the equipment, suggesting better options, even helping to fix an error message that was coming up with the software that for sure would've stopped me in my tracks on my own on location. They handle much much bigger jobs than what I needed - literally just a remote recording set up - they carry everything necessary for full on production (TV, and movie sets), large-scale remote events, to individual in-home studio needs. They have an outstanding reputation - which is why I had been referred over to them - but not in my wildest dreams did I imagine that they would be as kind, accommodating, and patient as they were... For the record I'd actually called another "top rental house" prior (LOCATION SOUND - see review) that was located even closer to my office... but the person there in rentals was so abrupt that instinctively it just felt like it would be a wrong decision; part of what you need when you rent expensive equipment of course is great customer service... so that if something goes wrong and you need assistance, you know that you've got it. Cannot recommend highly enough. Definitely wanna call ahead to make sure that if you need tech assistance their tech expert is in the house and not on location helping someone remote, and to make sure of course that what you need has not been rented out to some large scale production during the days that you will need it. This company was soooooo accomodating and considerate! Prices are affordable. Staff is super nice! Rented a couple mics and a mobile recorder for a session a couple months ago. There were a couple of hiccups with the equipment and I had to go back and fix it. Long story short, the staff gave me a discount and was really helpful in making sure that I got what I needed. Conversations were very easy, no unnecessary "mansplaining" the air was light and easy which is really what you want when dealing with anything. Vito and the rest of audio rents are amazing! I will never go elsewhere for audio equipment. They have anything you could possible need and are extremely well priced (you only pay for what you use). The process is super easy and doesn't require all the hassle that most places do. I had a tragedy that left me unable to communicate and/or leave the home for 3weeks! The company was so understanding and did not charge me for the time I had the equipment and was not able to use it. They even went a step further and had someone pick it up for me! They really are a genuine non money hungry company and it's very refreshing! I really love the place! Everyone is very helpful and it's a great spot! This is a two part comment, first about AudioRents as a company and secondly about the Manley Silver microphone they let me demo. I'd like to take care of the latter first: I used the Manley Silver microphone as a mid room mic on a piano, a close mic with a pop filter for a male voice, and as a close room mic on a tube Blackstar guitar amp. I think as a piano room it delivered the best results and as a vocal mic it held a unique place in the mix. As a guitar amp mic the sensitivity was too high resulting in a tinny sound, and a standard condenser or good ol' SM57 would have suited my purposes with equally adequate results. As for AudioRents as a whole: the company is unasuming, robust, and utilitarian in a way that, for a developing audio engineer like myself, has been a resource I return to for any of my paid gigs. Their selection has helped me experiment with unique, rare, and high end audio gear and the friendly genuine staff members have all been generous in ensuring I am able to capture the best audio possible from the source, whatever it may be. Audio Rents is DOPE! So much equipment and the process was easy. I called 2 days prior and Kristin Weiss helped me out! She's awesome and answered all of my questions perfectly. She knows her stuff. While I was there, Vito was dealing with a difficult customer who apparently talked to Kristin prior to her visit. Needless to say Vito was professional the whole time and Kristin even kindly clarified a bit of information for the lady! I give this place and staff a 100!
