Yu Tun is awesome! He did paint protection on my 2024 Tacoma Trailhunter, a first for him. He looked at videos on YouTube, etc before I even brought the truck in. He did plenty of research to identify which parts of the truck to protect. The 2024 Tacoma has bold styling and the rear fenders stick out leaving them exposed to rock chips, so he added ppf to those areas. The install was perfect, I highly recommend Shieldtec! read more

A little over a year ago, the first review of ShieldTec was posted, and since then, nearly 20k miles have been completed with the Jeep. Having the PPF installed was indeed one of the best decisions that could have been made, and it's honestly paid for itself several times over in the protection it's provided. From road debris, inconsiderate people, and the brushing of bushes on trails to the rocks on gravel roads, it's crazy how well the PPF has performed and held up. I genuinely recommend it! The installation of the PPF by YuTun, true to the first review, still has the Jeep looking brand new and its paint well protected! Sadly, this is where the praises of ShieldTec ends. Though super communicative and reachable from consultation through installation, in my experience, that ends shortly after that. Despite YuTuns claims of a lifetime warranty on the service, promises of if there's anything wrong, bring it in for repairs, etc. For over six months, over and over, I've been trying to schedule with YuTon a time to have several repairs completed, peel-ups, rock cuts, and to pay to have the back 25% of the Jeep covered in PPF. From YuTons promises to get back to me, to tentative drop-off dates, never following through, to pretty much ghosting me... With spending $4,000 on PPF with ShieldTec and the plans to hire YuTon to complete the remaining 25%, the experienced service and promises of support aren't very reassuring. I understand that he's a one-person shop; there are only so many hours in a week, but with over six months of trying to wrangle service? Proving a visit date and when it comes, pushing it out several months, repeatedly.. He takes pride in his work, and it's excellent; let me affirm that. However, if you're considering hiring ShieldTec to complete the wrap of your car, I hope you take a pause and consider other options, as there are other shops, larger and will provide follow up support. Happy customers refer, happy customers, create repeat business for those they wish to see do well. I can't in good conscious recommend ShieldTec to friends, nor will I be a repeat customer for other vehicles. YuTun is a master at his trade, affirmed, but still an apprentice in other and yet more critical areas. read more

Just bought a 2022 Mach E and I wanted to protect the paint with a clear bra. Last time I had a clear bra installed was a 3M bra in 2009. It was good for the time but you can see the lines so I didn't expect much from this install. All I can say is I was 100% shocked at the quality. It is almost impossible for me to see the bra on the car. Install was top notch and perfect. Went on a road trip and all the dead bugs are easy to wipe off. My wife and I are from Seattle and we purchased an Alfa Romeo Stelvio in Berkeley which we were planning to drive back to Seattle. We called several PPF (paint protection film) firms, to protect the vehicle on the drive home, which all had lead times of a month or more. We were referred to ShieldTec by a local Porsche dealer and Yu Tun, the ShieldTec owner, absolutely saved us from an unprotected drive home. Not only did he squeeze us into his busy schedule, he did amazing work. I am a really particular about my vehicles and Yu Tun did not disappoint. He found some defects in the paint, which he repaired, replaced a broken door seal, both of which escaped my inspection. He applied film over the front end, door pillars, doors, rear panels, and multiple layers over the rocker panels and every piece was applied to perfection. He also applied a ceramic sealant on the original paint and also over the Xpel film. Yu Tun is at the apex of his profession and I only wish he had a location in Seattle. Amazing! read more

I was referred to YuTun at Shieldtec by a friend of mine who had his Model Y wrapped in PPF there. I heard so many good things about YuTun and his workmanship that I had to give him a call. He is extremely patient and very thorough over the phone. No sales pitch, none of that. I'm new to the whole PPF thing but after speaking with YuTun, I felt well informed. I was about to take delivery of my Model S so I went ahead and booked an appointment with YuTun. He was able to squeeze me in about a month later, which worked out perfectly because since the car was brand new, it needed some time for the paint to cure. During that one month, I had numerous conversations with YuTun and he was always available to speak despite his busy schedule. At first I was going to go with clear PPF, but after a long debate, I decided to go with matte finish, Xpel stealth. I like the fact that he does the job all by himself. He's very meticulous and treats every car like his own car. I was supposed to pick up my car a week later, but he wanted some extra time because he wanted to make everything to my liking. When I came to pick up my car, I was floored at how good it looked. His workmanship is superb. I was so happy with the finished product. I was looking for paint protection film for my car (to protect it during an upcoming overland and offroading trip), landed on XPEL given its self-healing properties, and saw Shieldtec listed on XPEL's website among the certified installers in the Bay Area. Out of close to 10 places I called (both XPEL and 3M installers), Yutun from Shieldtec was the *ONLY ONE* who asked about the mileage of the car and was honest in recommending he look at it first free of charge before making a recommendation (on installing the film or having the parts painted first, again something no one else said to me). He saw it the same day and spent nearly an hour with me and pointed out which parts I should get painted first, and which are good enough to apply film on (he's very picky in a good way), I would've overlooked some of the chips he noticed. So we agreed that I'll have some parts independently painted and we'll do the film job after, with clear coat spray over and under it. He even offered temporary film before my overland trip since I was tight on time. I'm a very meticulous and detail-oriented person, and Yutun is a blessing to have in the Bay Area for paint protection. I will only go to him. He even showed me his own car so I can see what the film looks like installed (impressively glossy even though it was a dark colored car that was dirty from rain).
