When you come to Paris, you just have to visit Angelina--it's quintessential Parisian indulgence…read moreand exactly what you come here for! We stopped by the flagship Rue de Rivoli location right by Place de la Concorde for breakfast. We arrived right around 9:30 AM and walked straight in with zero wait. Talk about great timing, by the time we sat down and looked outside, a huge line had already wrapped down the sidewalk. The decor is beautiful and timeless, pure classic French elegance with the chandeliers, mirrors, and gilded details. We were seated upstairs on the second floor, which gave us a lovely, relaxed vantage point away from the entrance rush. We ordered their breakfast set, which came loaded with two flaky croissants, fresh baguette with butter and jams, two eggs Benedict, fresh juice, and, of course, their legendary chocolat chaud africain. That hot chocolate is as thick, rich, and velvety as advertised, almost like drinking liquid ganache. We also couldn't leave without ordering their famous chestnut Mont-Blanc pastry, which was silky, sweet, and totally lived up to the hype. Even though the dining room filled up quickly and was bustling, the staff was attentive, polished, and very efficient. Loved the entire experience from start to finish, an absolute treat!

I believe there are two locations, and from what I understand, they don't take reservations, so be prepared to arrive early and wait in line. We arrived around 9:30 AM with a party of five girls and waited about 20 minutes for a table, which honestly wasn't bad at all. The menu is extensive, but they also offer three brunch options that I thought were very reasonably priced. I went with the €45 option, and there was SO much food! Pastries, a breakfast croissant, their famous hot chocolate, and even dessert--it was the perfect amount and such a fun way to try a little bit of everything. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious. And I absolutely loved the slow, relaxed Parisian pace. Our waitress was so kind and attentive, and we never felt rushed. Instead, we were able to sit back, enjoy our food, and really soak in the experience. Between the beautiful setting, delicious food, and relaxed atmosphere, this is definitely a must-try for a Parisian brunch experience!

Given the fact that it…read morewas a weekend and pretty late in the lunch timeframe, the restaurant was unsurprisingly packed. My friend and I were seated after milling around for a few minutes; we got the last available table which was right in front of the kitchen and we could see the food being prepared, which was pretty neat. Another group that came in just after us was turned away. The lunch menu had a pretty wide variety of items, all under €20, including omelets, burgers, steak, and salads. My friend is vegan but has had to be a bit flexible with it while living in Paris. She wanted to order the "salade végétarienne," but was told by the waitress that it was not served on Saturdays. There didn't appear to be anything else vegan- or vegetarian-friendly on the menu. However, the chef offered to whip up a salad with just vegetables; since we were conveniently seated right in front of him, he was able to call out to my friend before putting things on the salad, to make sure she was okay with it. My friend ended up getting a salad with a generous amount of tomatoes and green beans (and a dairy-looking dressing, but she hadn't really emphasized the non-dairy part of her diet so it wasn't really the chef's fault), which she was able to enjoy. They also gave her free fries, since she didn't have meat, which was a thoughtful touch. I ordered the tartare italien, which also came with fries. It was really tasty and well seasoned, and the portion size was honestly quite big; I wasn't able to finish it. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and the service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant has a warm, cozy ambiance, with tables close together, as is typical for Paris. Definitely a solid place to get a filling, affordable meal in Paris. I was able to pay with my American Mastercard without any issues.

Food: The missus had the calamari special on rice. It wasn't great. Squid is tender in minutes or you need to stew it an hour. This dish seemed the latter. I had steak tartare and it was on the sweet side but the best we had this trip.

THE FOOD ------------------…read more+ THEEEEEE gold standard for macarons in Paris ... or anywhere for that matter. + Macarons here are a little crisp, a little pillowy softness and a whollllllle bunch of flavor. - It cost a pretty penny (about 3 Euros for 1 piece), but you won't regret it for a second when you bite into one of these addictively delicious treats. THE SERVICE ----------------------- + All class, top notch white glove service - literally - they handle the macarons with much care like it were gold! THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------------ + Located in the heart of the Champs-Élysées on Rue Lincoln, so, YES, it is busy like rush hour outside ... and inside. + There are 2 sides to this massive flagship location - you can either make a purchase of macarons at their store OR dine/sit down in their tea house. Both have lines to wait on, but making a purchase only takes about 10 minutes on a weekend, while dining in looks like an unimaginable wait! + The store to make a macaron purchase at has 3 tables to sit around to enjoy your purchase of delicious macarons. You MUST catch someone about to leave (like we did) in order to snag a table. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------------- = Expect waits on a weekend afternoon, especially to sit down in the tea room. If you just make a store purchase, it's only about a 10 minute wait ... and you'll be thanking your legs for that. = It's a tourist destination in itself, so expect LOTS of people taking photos of this location. CONCLUSION ----------------------- = Yes, I'm from the tri-state area and they've had a Laduree in NYC since 2011, but there's alwayyyyys something special about going to one of the originals and this spot is no different.
