The quality has dropped significantly in the last year. The masseuses don't speak English, so it is difficult to communicate verbally. They previously had a body diagram paper, so you could label problem areas and the amount of pressure you were comfortable with. No longer. I physically show what hurts, before and during the massage, but the masseuses still don't work the area. I indicated I needed more pressure, but it didn't change. The masseuse just started grunting. I've felt them hit a knot in my shoulders/back and go right past it. Either they didn't feel it or chose to ignore it. The last 2 I used didn't know how to place the sheet. Working on my front upper body they moved the sheet to my mid-thighs. Working on my legs, the sheet was pushed above my waist. Exposing my genitals in both cases. I'm not shy, but some customers may be. The last masseuse just rubbed up and down my body. The same pressure and motion throughout. 2 or three times, but never touched the top of my shoulders or my neck. 2017 to 2019 I would have rated them 4 to 4-1/2 stars. I didn't go during the height of Covid 19. 2020 - most of 2022 I would rate them a solid 5 stars. Now they rate a weak 1 star. If you want a "rub down" this is the place to go. if you want a "massage" go somewhere else. read more

NOT RELAXING AT ALL! This was the worst massage I've ever experienced. Poor communication, Jason spoke little English which made it difficult. The tech who was chosen for my husband went to the wrong location, so we had a substitute, and had to wait for them to arrive. When they put us in the room they gave no instructions. The massage itself was not enjoyable. Very jerky movements, seemed to drop my hand or foot instead of placing it down. He hardly used his fingers or thumbs, so there was little pressure point relief - it was all palms and forearms and elbows. I thought about stopping him and asking for a refund. When checking out, there is no option for an itemized receipt, only the small credit card slip. I left more stressed out and frustrated that I spent $190 ($80 each and a $30 tip [because it's the right thing to do]) on something so disappointing. read more

I had been to Shiatsu Renu several years ago and had great shiatsu massages. I live a little far away from the location, so I hadn't been in a while until I received an e-mail with a discount offer. I called to make an appoointment requesting a 90 minute session that included a 1 hour massage of my choice. I requested this be shiatsu. What I received was a very deep tissue Swedish massage. I was very disappointed, but there was really nothing I could do. I doubt that I will be back. My feet needed a break. Trying the reflexology and back combo. The foot massage was not impressive although she did a pretty good job. She put her back into it! lol She was rubbing my rugged feet and looked angry. I felt bad for her. The back massage was the best part of the whole thing. The place looked small then they took me in the back and there were extra rooms. Compared to all regular chinese foot massage places it does not stand out but it is convenient with in the mall and a good price. I would still reccomend it. Who doesn't like a good foot massage?! I love this place because they offer great quality massages for a low price but it is absolutely impossible to get a hold of them. Their phone just rings and rings on my end. I called once inside of the business and I had the phone ring once and that's it. So they never answer the phone. So I show up instead and there's no one at the desk about 50% of the time that I go. I have walked all over the place trying to find someone and I usually end up leaving. They have a web schedule too. You can sign up for a time slot and a person but when you show up, that person is either not there or they're double booked. Bottom line: they're unreliable and not worth the frustration. This was the worst massage I ever received in my life. First of all, I was trying to be a little cheap going to a different massage place since I saw a groupon deal that I couldnt pass up. This ended up me regretting this and felt that I should of stick back with my old masseuse. Anyway, I walked in with a lot of back pain and felt like for them working on my feet will somehow help alieviate the pain. I tagged a long with my mom, filled paperwork out, and we both went together in a dimmed room to be seated. The massage ladies then started their timers and started getting prepared to work on us. I got an older lady name Cindy that barely spoke any English so we had some miscommunication here and there. The problem was due to Cindy not properly massaging and rushing me to something that could of been a "peace of mind" experience. She literally spent 10 mins total getting stuff ready (keep in mind I am being timed) out of the 45 mins she only spent less than 10 mins on my back and all she did was slap my back instead of actually applying pressure to relieve at least some pain. It felt like not getting a massage. Plus she seemed like she didn't knew what she was doing while the other lady kept watching her like she had to make sure she was doing everything right. The whole time I was concerned if she was going to burn my feet On the paperwork I noted the areas that I was in pain and she did not bothered to work on them. Up to now I am still in the same condition waking up in the same pain and will be on my way to another massage place to correct these issues. Due to this bad experience I would't come back and would pay extra to someone else to do the job right. read more

I have been patronizing Shiatsu Renu in Hurst for approximately 16 months - Each week I have a standing Saturday appointment at 3pm - on 12/22/18 I arrived to find out that the schedule had been changed by Frank (owner) and I was not notified of this change. I have complaint to Frank (owner) a few times about his rude, unkind, non-considering behavior with his customers that patronize weekly. I texted him upon arrive and called twice to no avail. I believe it's time to find another massage location that is more respectful and considered of others. BTW: I drive 45 minutes each week because of Maria my massage therapist - The BEST ever! read more

I've only visited their chair massages in the middle of the mall by Macy's, not their store location. I prefer just to have my back massaged anyways, so I prefer the chairs so they don't waste time on my legs or anything. I don't know the name of my therapist but she barely speaks English and she has really short hair and only works the weekend. She is amazing. She finds every knot I didn't know I had, and I usually end up extending the time once she gets started. They put a timer in front of you so you know you're getting what you pay for. It works out to be $1 per minute, but most one hour massage places I've been to, about 10 minutes of that time is "consulting and dressing time" so this ends up being the better deal for me. The wife and I decided to take advantage of a Groupon deal and treat ourselves to 1 hour full body massages. Where to start? Well, if you like being massaged by a man, this is your place. Both my wife and I had male massage therapists. The small rooms have only a curtain between your naked or semi-naked body and those in the waiting area and even people walking by in the mall. When the therapist walks in, God and everybody can have a good look. Do you like Christmas music to relax to while being massaged? Again, this is your place. It's as if you never leave the mall. You can hear the mall's music and even people walking by in the hallway because it literally only a few steps away from the massage rooms. But wait, it gets better. My wife's massage table featured a metal bar that pressed into the bridge of her nose. Fortunately, she was distracted by her masseur's constant belching. Meanwhile, I was telling my guy to be careful with my left foot because I had recently broken one of my toes. English not being his first language, he thought I wanted him to squeeze, pinch, and massage said toe with extra vigor. Like an idiot, I sat there thinking, "is this some sort of Chinese therapeutic approach to healing" instead of yelling at the guy. When it was finally over and the wife and I were trying to make a graceful exit, the old guy who'd been massaging her hollered at us because we were leaving without giving a tip. So, there you go. Lousy, stressful environment and a strange man rubbing his hands all over your body. That's what you have to look forward to at this place. Some people may enjoy that. We didn't. read more

I had been here before I was remodeled and went back a few times. The last time I went before I changed places I was horrified. I don't remember why I was horrified so I wen again today. It was the worst massage I have ever had. There was yelling out side the room I was in, I couldn't breath with the face pillow blocking the face hole, the massage therapist left numerous times, and she didn't focus on the areas I had circles and talked to her about. I was a walk-in and there were no other customers there when I arrived. They set to work on me immediately, I didn't have to wait at all. However, while I was there three other walk-ins came in and because there were only two people working (a woman and a man) they were told to come back an hour later. Then a customer came in who had scheduled an appointment for 2pm and she was also told to come back in an hour. She was visibly upset and I don't blame her. These people spoke almost no English and it was very hard to communicate with them. If I had been one of the customers who was told to come back at a later time, I would not have returned. They either need to hire on more staff or start doing appointments only. As for the massage itself, I'd never had one before so I didn't know what to expect, but the foot massage was downright PAINFUL. Perhaps my feet are far more sensitive than I had thought or perhaps the woman was too rough, I really don't know. But half the time, I was trying not to jerk my foot out of her hands because it hurt so much. The back massage, on the other hand, was very relaxing and felt wonderful. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone. Take the time to find someone else, you may have to pay a little more, but you'll definitely have a better experience. read more

This place doesn't even deserve 1 star!!! I'm referring to the Hurst location! Its horrible!!! From the customer service to the massage its trash!!! I'm in law enforcement and that's the only reason I paid! I should've ran when the customer service was bad in the beginning but I thought it was a language barrier! I initially waited for approximately 30 minutes, so I thought that oh this place must be good! I was sadly and bitterly mistaken. The tall asian male was rude, tried to act like he was rushing me to hurry up and pick what I wanted. The massage he gave was horrible, I only stayed because my husband was also getting a massage and I want to ruin his experience. I also anticipated maybe this will get better. It didn't, only worse! I had chosen the facial and this guys fingers reeked of cigarettes! Who wants cigarettes on their face, that's when it was time to stop I couldn't hold it any longer! so I went there today, woman at the front handling paper work gave my masseuse the wrong paper work and I ended up getting my rear end massaged very inappropriately. When I pointed out her mistake instead of trying to correct it she went on a rant that if she wasn't so busy she would give me an extra 10 minutes or so no charge I told her I didn't think it was right to make me pay for a massage I didn't get and was answered with palms turned up and a shoulder shrug.I paid the 50$ but will make it my mission this year to tell everyone to go to a professional where they speak fluent English! save your time and more importantly your money and go to massage envy. read more
