I genuinely enjoy this coffee house. The decor inside is absolutely fabulous and follows the seasons holidays as well. Staff is very friendly and there are lots of places to sit down inside and outside. Most importantly, the coffee is quite delicious there. I ordered a decaf iced latte with 2% milk. However, I got one with oat milk. I've been drinking lattes for over 20 years and know the difference, especially since I really dislike oat milk whereas my daughter only drinks lattes with oat milk. Instead of apologizing and making me a new one, the server insisted that it was made with 2% milk. I left without drinking my iced latte. My family and I will NEVER order from Sheza again. I wasn't going to write this, but after visiting recently, I had to. This coffee shop has two locations, and I've been to both -- same vibe at each: cold, unwelcoming, and uncomfortable. The owner's energy is honestly just off. She doesn't smile, has zero warmth, and the whole environment reflects that. On my last visit, I ordered a regular coffee that cost over $5 -- way overpriced, especially for how bad it tasted. Then, after I paid, I asked if they had Wi-Fi, and her immediate response was, "Yes, but you only get 60 minutes." No friendliness, no appreciation -- just straight to rules. The WiFi name is literally 60minutes ( like really?) Mind you, the place is always empty. Yet I was still being timed like it was a packed café in midtown. It felt rude and unnecessary. There are also signs all over the shop reinforcing this 60-minute limit, which is ironic considering how empty it always is. One visit, the Wi-Fi didn't even work -- but the signs were still there, loud and proud. The space is cute, but the energy kills it. Every time I've gone, it gives "get in and get out." It doesn't feel like a spot to relax or work. It feels like you're being tolerated, not welcomed. I don't know how a business survives with this kind of attitude. But one thing's for sure -- I won't be back. Cute aesthetics can't make up for bad coffee and bad energy. UPDATE: the owner has a bad attitude (check her responses on google reviews). She lacks accountability which is probably why the place is always empty now! It's a way to go about responding to PAYING CUSTOMERS concerns. Some people are just ain't meant to be business owners. Ordered from here twice and both times I had awful experiences. I only went back because this place is close by and I was hoping it'd be better. The first time I ordered 4 pastries for an event. They weren't fresh and the coffee wasn't the best I've had. The second time I visited, I ordered a coffee and a scone for delivery. And, I only received the coffee. I called and asked why my scone wasn't put in the bag. I was told they wrote me a note and put another pastry in the bag, which I was allergic to and could not eat. Even though I never received my scone, I never received a price adjustment or a response from the cafe. I wouldn't recommend going here due to their lack of professionalism and proper customer service. read more

It's good to see a cute decor coffee shop in north riverdale as there aren't many in this location. Most of the ones nearby are delis. The place has indoor and outdoor seating. They also offer a variety of pastries . I came for a chai latte and they even recommended trying it with a flavor and whatever she added was delicious I believe it was coconut. The customer service i received was friendly and welcoming. I even got a tres leche cake which was good not so much like a Spanish tres leches cake but was decent. A delightful and whimsical coffee shop that asks that patrons keep their stay to 60 min to make room for new customers. If that isn't a sign of community popularity, it would be the delicious cinnamon roll produced by Sheza bakers. The generously-topped icing wasn't too sweet so I could finish the entire roll and wash it down with a house blend that was both smooth and bitter thus perfectly complimenting the cinnamon roll. Visited Sheza coffee shop over the weekend with my friend. The decor is beautiful and the pastries were good. I had the corn muffin and tiramisu to eat. I also tried the iced americano( not the best) and the most wonderful tea named Paris for Her. The cashier/barista was so welcoming and kind. Her service was superb, I wish I remembered her name. The downside to this place is that there is no wifi. Which is a bit abnormal for a coffee shop. However I suggest just using the hotspot on your phone if you do go. I think this is something that needs to be fixed. even if you offer it for an hour and set a timer; which I'm sure other places do. Lastly, the ending of my visit was met with an weird energy shift. A women, who I presume must be the owner, asked the barista if we didn't buy anything else yet? I did stay for about three hours. However, we bought 7 items over those three hours and used our own wifi. Your establishment was patronized sufficient so idk what that was about? We shortly left after. I decided to bring a meeting to a place I previously experienced amazing service. Today, the customer service and quality of the coffee was below a level one. Taking into account the price, I asked for a replacement of my coffee bc it tasted old. The response I recieved was that she will not exchange or return any service. This is an unacceptable response to build a business. I will never return for a 7 dollar coffee I had no choice but toss in the garbage. I have to say I will not go back to this coffee house. We had a funeral next door so to hold us out till lunch we got coffee & danishe's. The danishes were NOT fresh! The coffee they give you are in soup bowls! My wife wanted her coffee light but girl kept giving here dark coffee. 3times she asked to lighten her coffee. So for 2 bowl coffees & 2 stale danishes the bill was $21 ! I mean I their not Starbucks! Just some neighborhood chi-chi coffee shop. I generally dislike writing bad reviews for small businesses, especially ones like Sheza that I want to succeed, but here goes. I got an iced cappuccino with regular milk that cost $6.75. Very high, but Manhattan prices have desensitized me to high food prices even if Riverdale commercial rents aren't the same as Manhattan's, but not the reason for my gripe and this poor review. As I was waiting to get my cappuccino, I asked for the Wi-Fi information, and was firmly told by who I assume is the owner, "WE DON'T HAVE WI-FI!" Imagine my dismay. A coffee shop that doesn't have Wi-Fi - what a novelty! My intention was to spend an hour getting work done on my laptop before meeting with someone to get going with my day. But I simply left the place, and decamped to Dunkin' Donuts that had ample, available Wi-Fi. My sense is that this place has maybe experienced students from Mount Saint Vincent's buying one drink or pastry (pastry was plastic wrapped and didn't look fresh by the way) and staying for hours and hours. That's what people do in coffee shops! If you don't want that to happen, my suggestion is to find smart, clever ways around that as a business owner that doesn't make people feel personally offended and discriminated against. I'm sure some coffee shops have figured this out. Learn from that and implement it in a good, democratic way. I took "WE DON'T HAVE WI-FI" at face value not "we don't have Wi-Fi at the moment because our connection is down" or "we don't have Wi-Fi because we decided to do away with it as a new initiative". I was also offended because who knows if the owner is saying one thing to me about the lack of Wi-Fi while saying something else to other customers. I think an earlier review on Yelp mentioned that the place has good, strong Wi-Fi, so I'm only left to assume. Quite the disappointment because my $6.75 cappuccino was actually good. The decor is also vibe-y, but bad, unequal service and ungood energy makes for a bad, unwelcoming experience. read more

This is the most expensive coffee I've ever had, and it's just not good. A chai latte will run you over $7, adding an espresso shot will make it over $10 (!). A regular latte here costs about $8. You won't know that until you pay since they don't post their prices--look at any of the pictures of their Instagram-friendly menu board on Yelp or Google Reviews. You're paying all that for a latte that will look like the picture attached once you take the lid off. I guess hiding their prices is a good business strategy even if it's illegal, since I wouldn't have ordered anything if I knew them in advance; trusting them was my mistake. Most of the food looks bought wholesale, like at a Restaurant Depot or something, with a "Sheza" sticker attached to the package--you can't tell what, if anything, was actually made there. My hunch is very little. I was really excited to see a new business in Riverdale, but it's unfortunate that the coffee and food are astronomically priced afterthoughts here and the focus seems entirely on looking good on social media. Stopped by this beautiful coffee shop that just opened this past weekend! The decor is so lovely, the staff was all super friendly and they have so many options for coffees, teas and pastries! I grabbed a Paris for Her tea (green tea with rose/lychee and raspberry notes) which the cashier mentioned has been a popular tea to order. It was great. Their food and tea are expensive (I spent $11.50 for a tea - no refills on hot water - and a very small apple cider donut). Then, the barista came over and told me I had to leave bc I'd been here two hours and they have a 1-hour limit on seating. Nobody else was in the coffee shop, so I wasn't taking anybody's space. Visited your shop recently and was disappointed by the enforcement of your 60 minute limit on us when there were 2 other empty tables and it was a cold and rainy day. We were prepared to get up and leave if others walked in but no one did. We made 3 sets of purchase transactions during our duration totaling around $34 ($18, $10 and $6) but it didn't matter. We were asked to leave as soon as the third purchase of a cup of tea was sipped. Leaving now 3 empty tables, instead of 2. And it's better for business if people see customers inside just like a restaurant. Indicates that it's good. You should reconsider being so strict when no one else is around anyway. If you are down to two or empty tables and then new patrons come in, then maybe come and ask people to leave. Unwelcoming. No desire to ever go back. read more
