I had such a great time at Sherwood Forest Faire! There's truly something for everyone, lots of activities, amazing food options, and such a fun, welcoming atmosphere. One of the highlights for me was how inclusive the food selection felt. I had a really tasty vegan curry and some churros that definitely hit the spot. The entertainment was nonstop. There's live music, plenty of shows to check out, and even jousting, which was so fun to watch. It's also super family-friendly--I saw lots of strollers, wagons, and wheelchairs, and everything seemed really accessible and easy to navigate. I love that your ticket covers entry without any extra hassle no paying for parking or dealing with a complicated ticket system just to buy food. That made the whole experience feel more relaxed and enjoyable. I'm thinking about making this an annual tradition. Definitely recommend checking it out! My family and I visited Sherwood Forest Faire while one of our kids was visiting during Spring Break. We bought our tickets online and headed out there. While driving in there were several people guiding everyone where to park. Pay attention to the section you park so you don't get lost finding your way back when you are ready to leave. After parking we walked up to the Faire entrance, someone scanned our tickets and we were in. Once we were in we walked around. We watched some live music by Amanda Kitchens Carnival Sound Band. We shopped and I bought two crowns from Medieval Metal. We watched jousting and sword fighting. We ate pizza from Dante's, fries, and a Pineapple Dole Soft Serve from Robin's Kitchen and Sweets. We spent a fun day at the Sherwood Forest Faire. The area is quite large so be prepared to walk a lot hopping from one activity or show to the next. There are several cafes and pubs distributed throughout the forest, so no shortage of food and drinks. We enjoyed the circus, jousting and bird watching shows the most. The glass making workshop was interesting. The Norfolk band music was mesmerizing. There were many paid activities like archery, spear throwing, maze walking and more. What a fun place to get dressed up and just look around and be entertained. Weather plays a big part in how comfortable you are so check the weather. There's always shows and entertainment and the seating is under the shade. You can check out Robin Hood's live action, knights in jousting and people competing in archery. You can also try your hand at archery yourself. $5 for 5 arrows. We got a whole turkey leg for around $20, lamb kabobs for $18. Parking was free. I'm not sure how much the entrance fee was. We got cigars and smoked them with pirates for $10. Lots of little things to do and listen to including musicians. Fun day for the family, date or with friends. It's about an hour from S. There is always a good time to be had at the Sherwood Forest Faire. The customer service has been delightful every single time I've been going. So far, I've gone three times. My favorite aspects of these events are the live music because of the unique assortment of voices and instruments that are played. Their jewelry vendors have really unique pieces, things you can't really buy anywhere else. I also go here every year just for the perfume selections. The food is a little pricey, so if budget is a concern, eat a very large breakfast in the morning and you should be OK ! read more

1st and last visit ever. Totally not impressed. I spent a ridiculous amount for 4 tickets and the best thing was the live music and Highland Games were the best part of the festival. The food was over priced. Good luck with your order, it might taste good and be untouched by flies. Port a potty's were ok, grateful for real sinks with soap. An absolute blast! Make sure you show up all dressed up and ready to buy all the trinkets and try lots of good food! Lots of parking but does tend to get busy/crowded on the weekends. The Sherwood Forest Faire is a lovely time! I highly recommend attending. There are quite a few vegetarian/vegan options to eat. I got samosas and fries this last time I went. The samosas are so good. I think about them from time to time. They come with two kinds of dipping sauce. The tamarind one is my favorite. Hubs got the fish and chips and said they were good too. They have packets of tartar sauce to go with them. There is a ton of stuff to see and do! Bring some cash to make the activities and rides a bit easier. The joust is fun to watch. We also saw some dogs do tricks. They even brought out a pig! I think that was my favorite. read more

We had a pretty nice day visiting the Faire overall. Lots of entertainment for sure. But, for the volume of people inside the grounds, there are too few "privies" and especially, the running water sort. Way too few water, soda and beverage stands which led to extremely long lines and temperatures did rise this weekend. And as previous reviewers have stated, prices are exorbitant, and requests for tips makes it even more expensive. Nice for a change but pricey. read more

Our family had a great time attending the Sherwood Forest faire. There is truly something for everyone. Different shows and events are happening constantly and upon entry they provide you a schedule of events which makes it easy to figure out where to go when. Lots of food and drink options as well. We had no issue getting in but ended up leaving after a couple hours due to nap schedule, it was a zoo of people trying to get in around noon. So I would highly recommend just showing up when they open to avoid the madness. Definitely will be back next year read more

We go to the Sherwood Forest Faire every year almost and I really love Ren fest; however, this year when we camped the guys at the front of the camping grounds were just so rude and unprofessional. They weren't scanning the tickets right and were just trying to get us through. So my brother ended up having to pay again because they scanned the wrong ones because we got there before him with the tickets for everyone and didn't believe that they had so he had to pay again. They also charged an insane amount for our aunt to enter the camp grounds just to do a day stay to celebrate my moms birthday with us. Im not sure we will camp there again! We've done it at least 3 years now and it's just not worth it anymore. It use to be fun, but they also don't have any rv set ups so you're running on all your own stuff and trying not to use all your rv water. Not to mention it gets pretty loud and rowdy at night from all the parties/drunks/clans out there. Also, everything is just insanely priced inside. Also, so many people are coming to it now you can't see the jousting. They need better seating so that people can see the arena! It's time to upgrade!!! The buildings and vibe they have is great, though, and they have a lot of great shows to see! We will still go, just not camp! read more

i've attended and camped at this faire almost every weekend for14 years. if you're going to day trip the faire is adequate. expect very long lines for any drink or food. even water, there are no public fountains. if you want to camp. don't. it has attracted all the worst aspects of camping at trf and squished it into a campground that is a fraction of the size. rave culture, loud music, over drinking, and drugs are becoming rampant and can't be escaped due to the small campground size. i wan't to be able to continue to camp and be a patron of the faire, but i don't know if that will be possible with what it is turning into. read more

I'll say SFF is a solid Ren Faire, enjoyable, satisfying, worth the money. In 50 years I've been at many Ren Faires in several Western states, inc. 3 others here in TX over the last 6 years. I had gathered from multiple sources that SFF was "more kid-friendly" so it wasn't a priority for me and this was my first visit, I traveled 3 hours to attend, arriving in the early afternoon. Signage was lacking on the approach. Saturday afternoon had little road traffic. Parking was easy, plentiful and free. The setting is worthy of the name, there's more shade and fewer large structures than many other Faires. There wasn't a fancy Program to buy but a map and schedule sheet was free. I have my own garb, I didn't pursue any sort of rental. I didn't encounter any souvenir photo service. I didn't see a lot of strollers or scooters. There didn't seem to much pagentry or parading, which at other Faires can be almost overwhelming. I didn't encounter many Characters roving about; most other Faires see a plethora of cast members performing as stilt-walkers, jugglers, strolling musicians, jesters, flower girls, beggars etc. The Dragon-man and Badger-folk were impressing the guests, bravo. Shopping was good, hitting most all the points one should expect. I was very glad to find the sort of felt hat I had been missing for years at other Faires, although it wasn't cheap I indulged myself. I was surprised there was a tobacco shop, and that side of the grounds, near an acre was quite smoky (and I'm pretty sure a few folks had lit up blunts.) The food and beverage options are excellent, although I didn't see my favorite Steak-on-a-Stick so I enjoyed a gyro bowl. There was plenty of seating near most vendors and the prices were not excessive. $2 watwr was refreshing. Wash stations were not common however, and I didn't notice any plain drinking fountains. On the topic of this being a "kiddie 'fest" I must add a note of caution. Obviously Ren Faires typically include bold, and ribold costumes, sexualization, Wenches and Wenching, double entendres, libertine antics, Jack Sparrow imitators, etc. This Faire is perhaps being "captured" by the Wierd of Austin ; more than a few bearded persons in lace, dresses and corsets were in attendance, aggressive PDA's by apparent same-sex couples weren't uncommon, and there were a couple of females topless except for pasties. A few staff or cast members appeared to be dedicated to gender-bending as well. Have fun y'all. read more

I ABSOLUTELY had the BEST TIME now i know why i need to bring my ENTIRE bank account with me to enjoy more fun and next time I MUST come camping for a weekend. I ow SO MUCH of my happiness to the ppl working this event. First was the turkey-leg-guy SHOUT-out!! I dont remember any names but i made so many memories from getting my hair braided to getting a COMPLETE OUTFIT and everyone whom helped stuff me into my green outfit was so amusing to share the experience with. I also got to meet someone who was involved with the FANTASTIC meed i was drinking... HIGHLY RECOMMEND GETTING MEED ::the elder was my fav ..... i will never miss a year again after this day. Here, you can go back in time to the legendary realm of England's Sherwood Forest in the pivotal year 1189, where attendies will meet historic figures and legendary creatures in a fully immersive, natural environment. The wooded grounds feature over 100 permanent buildings, including stages, pubs, merchant shops, wedding venues, a fully functional castle, and more. A wide array of entertainments and diversions can be enjoyed, with over 150 performances by more than 40 stage acts each day, including full-contact jousting, falconry, comedians, jugglers, musicians, and other shows for both children and adults. Sherwood Forest Faire offers on-site camping and overnight accommodations. Primitive camping for tent campers, travel trailers, and RV enthusiasts is conveniently located on the fairgrounds. Guests may also choose to spend their weekend in royal style by booking one of five bedroom suites in the Great Hall of King Richard's own Nottingham Castle. During our time, here we saw an escape artist act and a comedy act. We enjoyed turkey legs and dressing, took pictures in period clothing with the on-site photographers, danced, laughed, and had a blast. There was something to do for all ages, which was a bonus for me as The Things are five years apart in age. Most of the food and trinkets were overpriced, but it this to be expected at a venue such as this one. However, the Things and I brought in our own water bottles already filled to the brim and therefore were able to avoid the price hike for water and sodas. A nice cute little Renaissance Faire! It's got all the classic events like jousting and birds or prey and can easily keep you busy for a full day. We camped there each time, and it can be pretty tough to find a spot to set up a tent, especially one that isn't immediately up against someone's loud generator, which was frustrating. But despite the subpar camping setup, the faire itself is quite fun. I particularly enjoyed the raunchy musical show by Opal and Jade. read more

What a fun experience! First parking, they seem to have have plenty of parking but we waited in the car line about 20-30 minutes before getting to the actual parking lot when we arrived around 1 pm. We had to change our position and enter the parking line off hwy 290 instead of off of Old Hwy 20. Once in the parking lot you will be directed where to park by festival staff. There were some pedi-cabs offering rides to the entrance. So many people dress up in costume which adds to the feeling of being fully immersed in the Renaissance atmosphere. The grounds are on mostly dirt and gravel so wear close toed shoes. I talked with a fairy who was camping there for the weekend. They also offer other accommodations so you can have fun without worrying about driving. Bring cash, the cash food and drink booths seemed to have shorter lines. Expect long lines for food, drinks and the bathroom if you are a maiden, however you will be surrounded by music and performance wherever you go so you'll stay entertained. We tried Elderberry mead which was very delicious. We decided to dress up for the day and I am so glad we did because it helped me feel like part of the world they created. Next time we'll go earlier and I'll definitely wear my sneakers with my costume. We're planning to go to the Celtic festival in September now. read more

I have been to a number of different fairs, but this was the first time attending the Sherwood Forest Fair. This was its ten year anniversary, so that was being hyped somewhat. Ten years in the business is actually a good thing, because it shows that the fair is going to be around for a while. I have seen some fairs come and go after a year or two, so to be around for a decade is pretty good, and it means that they are doing something right. This fair has all of the trappings that medieval or renaissance fairs tend to have: jesters and knights running around, ladies in waiting, rustic food being hawked by various vendors (turkey legs!), and other vendors hawking their various wares. Of course there were those that were dressed in garb, while others came in mundane clothing. I only saw a couple of the shows, but they all seemed pretty good. Merlin is a fun kids show, while the mud show is always fun. The fight show Blunt Force Drama is fun, though quite offensive. Just go in knowing that it is an act, and probably not appropriate for the young ones. The grounds are well kept, and pretty much every vendor has their own physical building instead of a tent, which is nice. There are some hills to climb, so be ready for that if you have issues with them, but otherwise the lanes are nice and wide, and I did not see them having any problems with congestion of people. At the back of the fair is a castle, which is fully fleshed out with an interior that can be used for banquets. No one was in there at the time that I traveled through, but it looked like it could be a lot of fun to have a dinner there or something. If you are in the area when the fair is in session, I think it is well worth the visit. The cost to get in is reasonable (about industry standard) though you should expect to pay fairground prices for food and drink. There is alcohol on the premises, so you can get beer, wine, or mead at various locations. read more

We love Sherwood! We go every year. It is quite a bit smaller than TRF, and much more family friendly, making it a perfect fit for family groups with children. The activities are fun and the shows are enjoyable. Lots of vendors with beautiful handmade items, and good food, too. This year there were more people than previous years, so one caveat - get there early! Parking is a breeze right at opening. The later you arrive, the more trouble you'll have and the longer you will have to wait getting to the lot. read more

2022 was bad. Texas was in a drought and they vastly oversold tickets with general admission rather than entry dates, so it was a dust bowl. Even longtime participants were confused by the length of the lines. I heard places ran out of water early. 2pm and people were falling down drunk in places. And this was the first weekend of the event. I suspect there will be police reports - there was already a big police presence, thankfully. Dust, tobacco smoke, weed, rancid beer. The place stank. It was so crowded the vast majority of people were just drunk and standing around talking. It might as well be a strip mall. It's an open secret that the campground is known for sex parties. All the people with the fox tails hanging off their butts, the people in mascot costumes even though it's 90 degrees in the sun, the nearly naked ravers with angel or devil wings, the people in black leather bondage gear... They're not there for the turkey legs. If you can ignore the dust, tobacco smoke (vaping a giant cloud of garbage is just smoking!), marijuana, and people in bondage gear, I guess it's technically still a Ren Faire. But if this is what Sherwood has become, I won't be back. read more

Such a fun time! I've been every year except the last two due to Covid, but friends and I ventured there yesterday and glad we did. Tons more vendors than in the past and people watching is the most fun thing to do! Seems more and more people come in costume. Of course one of my favorite things is Sky Kings falconry-- the falconer is super great and you can tell he loves those birds! And this year, we watched the Danse Macabre troop-- GREAT! The only negative thing is long lines for food and drink, but hey, worth the wait! And if you time it right, it's really not a problem. My husband and I came here on Saturday afternoon for about a few hours. If you are military or a veteran be sure to get your discount since it helps saves a few bucks at the gate. You can also attend on their BOGO day which currently is on Sundays after 1pm to receive a discounted rate. The price I think is still a little high but whatever it is something to do. Once you pass thru the gate you will see a wide mixture of people. Many people opt to dress up so we saw people who dressed up like fair maidens, pirates, fairies, and regular medieval wear. We even had the viewing pleasure to see a couple dress up like Star Trek Trekkies. You will also see people who should choose better outfits based upon their body type but hey no judgment. The food smell among the faire is amazing! I didn't partake while here since we had eaten a fairly decent size lunch beforehand. Some of the delicious eats include: funnel cakes, turkey legs, steak on a stick, cake on a stick, pies, greek gyros, salads, cinnamon roasted almonds, soup in a bread bowl, and more. My husband and I did get a bottle of mead to split from one of the taverns while walking around. The mead roughly was about the equivalent of 4 full glasses and you will save a few bucks getting a full bottle than by purchasing by the glass. I guess that just means you will need to figure out how much you are drinking with the people you are with. Within in the faire, there was comedy, laughter, archery, wrestling (very staged and very bad acting), jousting, shopping, a few rides, glass blowing demos, and more. You have the option to get onsite camping since if you want to drink it up while here since it is one of your safest options. There is also local lodging within the area at budget motels. Note we saw a cop in the parking lot on the way back to our car. A few added points; there is a summer camp for both adults and children. Eat, Drink, & Be Merry!!! Sherwood Forest is a Medieval Faire similar to the Renaissance style festivals but set in a different time period although you will also find many fantasy characters including Pirates and Fae hidden in the woods. I call it the "Love Child of TRF" which many of you have been to or heard about in the past. Many of the people from Texas Renaissance Festival near Houston can be found in Sherwood. Sherwood Forest located just east of Austin and north of Bastrop close to the 290 & 21 intersection. The main entrance is on Old Potato Road. (Rumor has it not to follow GPS) Camping entrance is located on 290 just west of 21. Sherwood is considered a medium sized Faire on 32 acres and has room to grow in the future so keep coming back because every year something new is always happening. I have been going out to Faire since day 1 in 2010 and oh my how the Faire has changed and grown over the years. Sherwood started as a six week Faire and the schedule has now expanded to eight weekends Feb - Mar every winter/spring. Weather is bi-polar this time of year so don't let that stop you from coming out as the Faire is open rain or shine, cold or hot, so just dress appropriately and think back to what is like in England during that time period... you truly will be stepping into a magical place no matter the temperature. Camping is the way to go, especially if you like to indulge in adult beverages. It is a whole other experience. There is a General and Quiet Area. The ground is mostly sand so be prepared for that. Also you might want to bring tools as some spots are still rough and might need some clearing out. The area is still rustic and I believe the Faire likes it that way. Then there is also a Clan camping area which is saved and worked by Clans that are a part of the Faire community. I belong to a Clan and purchase a Friend of the Faire pass which is a season pass that includes camping and I get to set up my tent for the whole season, yes 8+ weekends! My little piece of paradise is what I call it... Sherwood is a special place! Multiple stages and entertainment. Comedy, Magic, Music, Falconry, Puppetry, Music, etc. Food from many different regions. Full Combat Jousting and on special weekends you might catch a Jousting Tournament. Robin's Feast is an all you can eat and drink extravaganza for two hours with interaction entertainment held on Saturdays in the Castle. (I went in 2014, first year in the castle, and had a blast. The food was incredible!) My Favorites: Robin Hood story line through out the day all over the Faire Archery has popped up every where!!! Circa Paleo band on the Elven stage and the Puffin Deck of Paleo Puffin Coffee & Hookah, it is a great combo! Jousting Tournament with Charlie Andrews / Knights of Mayhem Saxon Moon and Wine & Alchemy bands Dead Bob show one year, I think season 2 Children's Fairy Afternoon Tea ... and my #1 favorite thing to do... People watch! This Faire has one of the highest percentage rates of people dressed up in garb than many of the Faires out there. It is so much fun just to find a spot to sit and watch the parade of characters go by. It takes so much time and imagination to pull together the perfect outfit. This is my idea of fashion... Love the garb! Sherwood Forest also hosts a Celtic Fest & Highland Games in Sept, Kid's Camp with Medieval arts and crafts in Jul with an Adult Camp held over a weekend in Aug, and Gatherings that are open to the public during other months which is an opportunity to spend the day working in the Faire or Camp grounds with a pot luck dinner and evening entertainment which a beautiful way to build a community. Sherwood Forestfaire park We were stopped at entrance over an ADA issue. A 4 lb ADA certified dog in ADA vest, with tags and always held by my wife because my wife is brittle diabetic and the dog has to be able to smell my wife's breath, to see if she is low blood sugar or high blood sugar. Employee insisted on dog having a leash.. We will be contacting Austin TV media, an ADA attorney to drag Forestfaire employees into court for an interpretation of ADA law. Other people were walking around with dogs and no indication of service animal. People walking around with weapons, swords, longbows and arrows, daggers, but a 4 lb service dog without a leash is a problem. A lot of folks walking around , needing soap and water, (body odor on a 70 degree day) who don't have full length mirrors obviously from all the cottage cheese thighs and pale loose skin bellys looking like a can of biscuits exploded. Save your money and time and go to Busseys flea market if you want to climb hills and see ugly stinky people, and buy high priced junk. read more

It's been so long since I've been able to go to a Renn Faire. This one was fun. It's a small little village with permanent buildings and some fun shows. We saw the bird show which was great at how the birds would interact with the tamer and audience. Just make sure to hide your turkey sticks from the vulture. Hehe. The juggler was great tho it was a bit much with the heckler kids in the front. Then there was an tarot reader show which was fun too. The fair is on dirt ground so be sure to wear some good shoes. Bring your own water as it gets pricey there. Lots of food and souvenirs to be had. Parking was plentiful. read more
