It's a great use of space with a, predominantly, indoor plant selection on one side and a small coffee shop Dash the Yakima coffee Company Dash with some seating on the other. I've always been a fan of their coffee, and there's something very calming to drinking a good cup of coffee while also looking at succulents or other small potted plants for home. They have plenty of other accoutrements on either side. They have a broad coffee selection along with mugs and other coffee related pleasantries on the coffee side, while on the plant side they have plenty of different plant related trinkets which include lots of vases, tools and other fun stuff to make your home nice and welcoming. The prices seemed to be fair, though in all fairness I am not a plant expert. It's legitimately fun to see specialty stores like this popping up in the area and based on the traffic from the first couple of weeks, it feels like this place is going to do just fine. It's well worth your time checking out!

It's one of the few places currently aware you were able to buy Christmas trees, and since my Best half loves the smell of pine trees during Christmas, it was nice that we were able to find this place. The tree selection was well organized and very adequate. Things were arranged based on height of the tree with 1 foot increments increasing the cost by roughly $10. They had trees ranging from 5 to 10 feet, with a number of different styles available. I'm not smart enough to be able to tell The difference between different types of Pinetree's, but the dude working here was definitely able to... That or he was lying to me very convincingly. Inside are plenty of garden related accompaniments and signage for inside and outside your house. The next time I need a specific house plant, assign declaring that this is a secret garden, or some bulbs for perennials (is that right?) I definitely know where to go!

I'm disappointed that they . I'm building some raised garden beds and decided to check out my options. Upon walking in, I was greeted by the amazing smell of popcorn! They've got a little machine with some delicious popcorn to snack on! Major plus for this guy - I love that stuff. Anywho - back to the lumber - my options were Douglas fir-larch, pressure treated lumber, and cedar. The douglas fir-larch is around $0.65 / LF. Pressure treated was about $1.65/LF, and cedar was around $3.30/LF. Based on the fact that I would have to seal the regular wood, I decided to go with 12' pressure treated. I'm a fan of local business, but prices have to be competitive. In this case, prices for a 2x8x12' was about 15% higher than at one of the big box retailers. In general, that seems like an approximate premium that you may pay here over the home improvement juggernauts. I was assuming that Hellisen only sold lumber, but they have quite a few other items. You can find a lot of wordworking tools and fasteners, as well as basic construction materials - but, mostly things that are wood related. If you like supporting local business and don't mind a small premium, Helliesen is a great option for lumber in Yakima. If they were open on saturdays, I'd buy a lot more lumber from here!

They're located on Yakima Avenue, but have a good amount of parking around the side of the building. It was nice to be able to turn off the main drag and immediately pull into a parking spot. Upon entering, we were greeted by some very nice gentleman who were more than happy to tell us about fireplaces and fireplace accessories. They've got plenty of floor models and lots of additional information about other fireplaces that they don't have in the store. Everything from pellet stoves up to super high-end firewalls that cost more than most fox houses. The more impressive items here were the grills and smokers. They basically had 24 rooms of grills the range from mid range charcoal grills all the way up to very high-end stuff. While we're not in the market for a grill currently, this is definitely a place we will be looking the next time we need one. Prices for grills seem very competitive, while prices for fireplaces seem a little on the high side. Admittedly, I have not done a lot of shopping for fireplaces past, so we shall see how things look once we've purchased one. Good local spot that has been doing business here for a long time and worth a look for all your fire related needs.
