Andy and Brian don't sit still, they are always flying around helping everyone find the right stuff. I recently went there looking for furniture hardware to fix my bed headboard, right before the store closed. Glenn and Lou both helped me design a new bolt/nut setup to fix the pieces with stronger parts so it wouldn't break again, while using the existing drilled holes so it looks perfect. I was the last customer out as they were shutting off the lights and then I heard it was even Lou's birthday...stayed late to help me with a $10 purchase. This is how True Value earns the loyalty of their customers and takes the stress and uncertainty out of the average DIY jobs. Glenn and Lou could tell how important this repair was to me, and they gave it the same attention as a major renovation. It is amazing how cheap it can be to fix/maintain things instead of buy new ones. Take some digital pics and bring to the store and tell the crew to give you whatever you need to tackle the project. Be sure to rent tools from them too, so easy and cheap! They will even deliver the equipment to your house for you. Get Benjamin Moore paints from them too, good stuff lasts longer than junk and requires fewer coats...your time is valuable!

Even if your brushes are dried out this stuff brings them back and it also easily removes paint etc. from your hands. And it's bio. I've tried to order it from Catskill AS but they won't order it saying that their supplier doesn't carry it. I CAN order it from Rhinebeck Art Supply in New Paltz and I do but Catskill is closer and I'd gladly get it from there when I purchase other items. I used to live in NYC and shopped at New York Central Art Supply and it was a pleasure and a great place. For an art supply store not to be able to order certain items is inexcusable. If you need it and it exists they should be able to order it. Bad business practice. If you are reading this try the stuff it's amazing. New Paltz will have it in the store in a couple of weeks. They were able to help me with polyethylene tubing that big box stores weren't able to - they cut me off a piece of tubing so I didn't have to buy 100' when I needed 10'. Friendly service, they took their time. At checkout there were a couple of old head customers to chat with who were also friendly. Reasonable prices. For being as small as the location is they have a LOT of selection.

Mind you, I had prepared prior, disassembled and scrapped the old metal bed frames (which they don't do for you) and now my old mattress is lying on the floor. Worried, I called the Kingston store where the man who answered continued to reassure me. "They are only a stop away, your beds will be delivered in less than a half hour!" Bullshit!! I have been royally ripped off today by this company…read more Last June I purchased a mattress and box spring; I exchanged only the mattress in July because it was uncomfortable (too firm), no problem. Two men arrived, they removed the mattress, they replaced it, the entire thing took five minutes or less. I then went back into the store last week because that mattress is also causing me issues. The salesperson did not have the different brand mattress in stock and recommended I go to Raymour and Flanigan, which I did immediately. There, I found a replacement mattress (memory foam). I then went back to Mattress Firm thinking they might have this in stock (since I wanted to keep the purchase "in house" with the least hassle for all parties.) The salesperson told me that is not in stock either and there's a wait list for October. That puts me outside my 120 day warranty, so I returned the mattress AND box spring (on paper) and somehow, despite the mathematics, I was shorted about $300. I still don't know how that happened but at this point I wasn't going to argue and she couldn't "fix" it because the "computer" calculated the return amount. I returned to Raymour and Flanigan and purchased another set: mattress and box spring. It was to be delivered tomorrow (Sunday, 8/22). Today (8/21) the Mattress Firm delivery personnel arrived to remove my mattress and box spring. The Superintendent of my building was with them when they got to my door. The younger delivery man stayed, the older went back downstairs with the Superintendent (I have no idea why). The younger man entered my apartment, took the mattress off the box spring, and put it against the pantry door in my living room (in the process he dislodged my security camera and broke it). I objected to this, as I now suspected it might be damaged this way and I knew they'd blame me, but he insisted it was OK and then went back into the bedroom (with me right behind him) and reached down for the box spring, in the process he TORE OFF THE TAGS ON THE BOX SPRING. The box spring was the original delivered to me in June and it had NOT BEEN TOUCHED until the man did it. The tags were lying on the floor. He took the box spring into the hall and leaned it against the wall, examined it intently, then told me THE TAGS WERE REMOVED and he COULD NOT TAKE IT BACK. HE had removed the tags, I had NO idea what he was talking about. We went back and forth this way for a couple of minutes, I called the store, the salesperson told him "If the tags are on the mattress, TAKE THE MATTRESS". At this point, I knew I was going to be STUCK WITH THE BOX SPRING but I thought well, I can cancel the box spring for the new mattress and use this one! His partner had reappeared and the partner said he had to GO BACK DOWNSTAIRS to call the "warehouse" because the tags were NOT ON THE BOX SPRING. Meanwhile, he had a cell phone in his hand, so now I know something is NOT RIGHT about this, correct? I had asked the younger man to step out of my apartment so he was standing in the hall in my doorway. When his partner left, he told me he had to bring the box spring back into the apartment. I KNEW there was a gimmick here and I said NO, first take the MATTRESS out, but he refused. He said he couldn't put the mattress on the "dirty rug in the hall" (even though the rug is not dirty and the box spring was already there!) He stepped toward me, I told him stay out of my apartment, take the mattress first, he stepped toward me again and used one of his hands to try to push me out of the way. At that point, I called the store again. End result: THEY REFUSED TO ACCEPT THE MATTRESS BACK EVEN THOUGH IT HAS ALL ITS TAGES AND IS IN ABSOLUTE MINT CONDITION, NO DAMAGE AT ALL, NOTHING. So now I spent $4300.00 for a mattress THEY REFUSE TO TAKE BACK because the BOX SPRING (sold SEPARATELY) doesn't have the right tag. I called the bank, they are disputing the entire charge, and I went to the police department and filed a report regarding what the younger man did. WHY DID I DO THAT? Because this company is RUTHLESS and who knows WHAT that guy was going to say! ANYTHING is possible. I did not press charges, YET. I find it particularly ODD and SIGNIFICANT that the box spring, original to the purchase in June, somehow INVALIDATES the warranty ON THE MATTRESS especially when the delivery person REMOVED THE TAGS IN MY SIGHT and then tried to push me out of his way so he could bring the box spring back into my apartment. I'm over 65 years old! WTH is wrong with these people? DO NOT SPEND MONEY IN THIS STORE.
