I'm usually in and out in a flash; my last visit for a gallon of "Moderate White" paint for the house hallway included a cup of fresh-brewed hazelnut coffee that an associate offered me while I was waiting. Understandable, but not what I wanted to hear. I called Chamblee Ace, and they said "Sure, you just pay for the cut." There were 14 8"x10" pieces I needed cut. Lance (I'm pretty sure his name was Lance) said it would take about an hour. A little over an hour later he called and said they were ready. How much did he charge me? $20. I was expecting to pay probably twice that. And the work was beautifully done, nice, clean, precise cuts. It's a little out of my way, but I'm going to Chamblee Ace for my hardware needs from now on.

Excellent customer service - no VOC paint…read more This is my first paint job using Benjamin Moore. SW recently discontinued their Harmony No VOC paint and and their rep sent me to Benjamin Moore since they have several No VOC paints to choose from at various price points. When I drove up at 2:30pm on a Monday the place looked closed. But as I walked up Tom Jr open the door for me and I quickly understood why they have such a high rating. This place is like the Cheers of Paint stores. They know their customers and they want to make sure you get what you need. I am very indecisive when it comes to paint and Tom Jr answered ALL my questions, gave me some things to think about and provided recommendations without any pressure to buy. The next day I called ahead to place my order, paid and everything was loaded into my trunk. Wow! This place is a whole vibe, if you need paint get it from here.

This review is specifically of the store manager, Jesse. My husband and I have been regular…read morecustomers at this Pike for years. We have spent over $16,000 there over the past three years, and we have also used their landscape services. We're often there weekly, and we know several of the employees well. About a year or so ago, we hired them to do a landscape installation. One of the items they chose to plant was a small but expensive Thunderhead Japanese Black Pine that was $600. The tree has never done well and looks terrible. At least half the tree always looks dead. It's right in front of our foyer window so it's very visible. We asked the manager, Jesse, for store credit for this tree, and we were already planning to buy a tree that was about the same price. The manager refused, stating that the tree wasn't completely dead so it was not covered under their lifetime guarantee. He recommended that we "cut out all of the dead parts." As you can see in the photo, that would be 2/3 of the tree. As someone who has spent my career in the service industry, I am shocked and disappointed that a manager would treat a longstanding customer so poorly. It has completely ruined our desire to do business with Pike in the future. In my opinion, he made a very bad call.

I am rarely on this side of town, but recently stopped here on the way back home in an effort to avoid the big box stores for a small item I need for a repair. Shep's turned out to be the exact place I needed it to be and I was able to scoop up what I was after and head home without stopping anywhere else! When you first arrive you may see parking as limited and street only, but given their location and attachment to the next door market, they share a covered parking garage that provides you plenty of parking! But if street parking is your thing, there is plenty of that as well. When I arrived, I was greeted immediately by an associate who promptly took me to the aisle I needed and helped me find the product. He was very friendly and helpful on the floor and then escorted me to the registers in the back to ring me up when I was ready. In between the goods and the register, I did walk around and explore a little and I was impressed with their selection of items, the flow of the store and the overall cleanliness as well. Overall, this is a solid neighborhood Ace Hardware. While it sadly not in my neighborhood, I certainly could see myself swinging back in if the need ever arises again, until then I will happily recommend Shep's to my friends in this area of town!
