came here for dinner while passing through the area on a road trip and got the chicken tikka masala and shared garlic naan and vegetable samosas with my parents as well. the vegetable samosas were really yummy! you get 2 in your order but they're huge! the garlic naan and the chicken tikka masala was pretty good but the chicken was a little dry so it was a little harder to eat. the food here is also a little on the heavier side. the restaurant itself is huge, though, so probably good for big parties. i noticed a lot of people getting take out from here as well. read more

It was clean, calm, and collected. The food was so fantastic, but unfortunately I'm lactose intolerant and I forgot lactaids--so I felt like I was going to die all night after getting dinner here. BESIDES THAT, if I was rich I would come here VERY often. Lamb was delicious, food came out quick, waiters were doing a FANTASTIC job. I recommend this place if you like Indian food. I love Sherpa Kitchen! The garlic naan is a favorite. And the chicken coconut korma will not disappoint. If you don't want to burn your face off with spiciness, don't go above medium. I actually cane to this place before and because I saw no vehicles in the parking lot, I went elsewhere. There's not a lot of exotic food to try in the area so I return to this place. There's service was great, he was ready to take my order immediately but I had to request a bit of time to make my selection. I was so glad to find an okra dish. Indian food is one of my top cuisines. So anytime it's an option I'm probably gonna go for it. Unfortunately, a few things were out of tune for this restaurant. first of all, Sherpa needs to present itself a little better, like literally. It was just about getting dark on the hunt for dinner and driving over we initially missed it and had to turn around. It is so dark from the outside. The only thing lit up was the small circular "OPEN" sign in the window. No lights from the window, no lights in the parking lot either. There weren't even many cars, so it almost looked closed up. Secondly it looks like Sherpa may have recently taken over another restaurant or they're kinda getting going at this location. It seemed like one staff member was running everything - Door dash orders/pick orders, table orders, bussing the dishes AND cleaning up. Maybe someone called out or they're understaffed. So, the wait was at least 10 min. before we were greeted at the table. Now, the food. Started with the Chicken Pakoda. honestly, just bland. It looked like chicken strips from your local chicken shack. So, the presentation gets like D. The taste wasn't too much better and the sauces - mint and tamarind sauces weren't really special. Pretty much the same sauces you get with the papadum when you sit down for free. (They don't have that here) so this appetizer was very disappointing. As usual, I got the Butter Chicken. Good, not great. Similar to another preparation of this I've had. It has a nice spice to it, but the buttery, creamy Prescence just wasn't there. The Naan was alright and sliced nicely but could've been hotter and more flavorful. It was OK considering how out this way Indian food may be far and few but personally coming from where there is a wealth of it, Sherpa was just average. read more

Off the beaten path but worth it! Such great food and wonderful service. The garlic naan is amazing, butter chicken very good, samosas and dips wonderful. It's a shame this restaurant didn't have more guests because they don't know what they're missing. I have tried chicken, lamb and shrimp as protein choices there and they are all excellent choices. I like my food spicy and they have heat levels for all differing palates. If you love Indian cuisine you have to stop at this restaurant when traveling through Gillette. For those who live in the city this is a definite go to for authentic Indian food. Whether you are familiar with Indian dishes or not this restaurant has something to satisfy everyone. I ordered the Tandoori chicken tikka. Basically chunks of boneless chicken cooked in a clay oven with a dry rub of spices. I asked for medium spice which I often do when trying new Indian restaurants because you never know. This place does not disappoint! Call it medium plus one it was just the right amount of kick and then some. If I was a regular at this restaurant this would be my go to spice level. For them to get it right out of the gate on my first order says a lot. The rest of my order included garlic Naan bread which was nice and thin with that fresh oven taste. The order also came with rice and marsala sauce on the side...bonus! I only wish I had ate in as the place had a great atmosphere as well. Next time definitely. When passing through the city of Gillette this is the one and only place to go for Indian food. Simply amazing. My family and I had dinner at Sherpa Indian Kitchen Restaurant and, WOW, this was by far the best Indian food we had in a long time, plus the service was fantastic. We ordered our usual chicken tikka masala (medium-spiced), saag paneer (mild/not spicy) and butter chicken ( also mild/not spicy) along with plain (= butter) and cheese naans. All dishes were fabulous. The chicken tikka masala had great, subtle flavor with just the right level of spiciness. Saag paneer had the perfect texture (i.e. not too creamy) with a distinct spinach flavor (much better than usual) which my 10-year-old daughter and I found fabulous. Even my wife, who's usually not into saag paneer, liked it. Last, the butter chicken was far better than what you typically find in Indian restaurants in that it tasted less like tomato sauce and the chicken itself was a lot more flavorful, like it had been grilled/sautéed separately before being marinated in the sauce (if that makes any sense)... my 8-year-old son loved it. Finally, the Naan and rice were excellent. To sum up, we highly, highly recommend Sherpa Indian Kitchen Restaurant to any Indian food lover who might be traveling through northeastern Wyoming, as we did. A hidden gem. read more

Yes. Yes. Yes. If you love Indian food or have never tried it and been curious, thankfully Gillette finally has an Indian dining option and we lucked out because it's excellent! They opened around the time COVID had hit, and you can see by the unused buffer equipment that they have some big plans for the place and i'm excited for them. Obviously buffets are out while the planet deals with the issues at hand, so let's talk food. Not the largest menu you will ever encounter, but it's a good healthy mix of Indian flavors and regional dishes. I'm thankful for a more manageable menu because the kitchen here throws out some delicious, home cooked style food like an Indian grandma might whip up. Now many Western and Eastern Asian ppl are used to Americans having a much lower bar for "very spicy" then they do, so if you like your food with a real kick you simply gotta emphasize to your server that you want it as hot as they can get it lol . The curries are fantastic, and I highly recommend their Samosa Chat for appetizer. Service can be a tiny bit slow, but it's so forgivable because the portions are generous and the meals invoke the need to sit and chat and truly enjoy your food and time out. On a long, hot road trip full of fast and fried foods, this Nepalese & Indian restaurant is a breath of fresh air filled with delicious herbs and spices.
