So I've waited for quite sometime before writing this but every time I cook which is daily I get so pissed off about the appliances I purchased at Sherman's. I went in to the Glen Avenue Store to buy all new updated appliances wanting to buy the best no budget. I got the worst appliances I have ever owned if they had had a salesman with any knowledge at all they could have sold me anything but the salesman I had was more clueless than I was I should have done my homework instead of relying on them for at the least decent appliances instead I came away with sub standard junk I hate everything I purchased especially my kitchen aid stove top, and double oven (whirlpool). Hard lesson won't happen again at least not there. read more

I needed a dryer for a Business ,ASAP. So I called Sherman's mostly because of their add on TV "order by tonight get it tomorrow." I placed an order Wednesday morning .Then the sales person tells me it can't be delivered until Friday. I asked what about the add on TV? He said "Oh, we had to pull that add. "That's interesting because I saw it play again Friday night! As for the Friday morning delivery I was called and told they would be coming anywhere from 4pm-6pm. I asked if he would call me when he was on his way over. I told him I was in East Peoria and could be there in Peoria in 15 minutes. He said ok. Just after 4pm he calls and says they are at the building! He claimed he didn't know he was to call. They had another delivery to make and they'd be back. So I rushed over there. Then after they put the dryer inside I asked if they could take it out of the box?" Nope it's a drop off" Another issue with this company I would have to wait for another week before they had someone to hook up the dryer. I had to find someone else to do it. I will not use Sherman's again ever. read more

The sales staff was good at his information, but didn't give us our $50 discount that we had. The delivery has been a nightmare! The delivery time was set at 10:30-12:30, I called the store when they weren't here at 2:00 and was told that the delivery time was actually 8:00-10:00 p.m. The delivery crew arrived at the end of our lane at +/- 8:30 and said that they could not back down our lane in the dark and that we would have to reschedule. I got a call the next day and was informed that our delivery time was actually 10:00 p.m.-Midnight! They could possibly reschedule us in four days for delivery. This is crazy!!! Who every heard of getting a washer and dryer delivered between 10:00 p.m.-Midnight!!! read more

We were recently in a pinch and needed a 24" refrigerator for a property in Peoria and we needed it quickly. Decided to take a chance and hit the Sherman's warehouse in the Heights. My wife dealt with Justin. They had almost exactly what we needed and were able to offer it at a very good price. Once we discussed, we phoned Justin and he took care of all of our paperwork by phone - informed us that our item would be at dock door ready for pickup. When I arrived, true to his word Justin had the refrigerator ready to go - grabbed a coworker and loaded it in my truck. Way to go Justin- this kind of customer service is not that common any more. We've purchased a few things from Sherman's and we've always been very happy with them. Just wanted to post a review on our most recent transaction. We purchased a bed for our son, the same bed we have but in a smaller size. We were told it would take 6-8 weeks but it came in just under 4 weeks. The delivery guys called early in the day with a 2 hour delivery window. And then they called back to see if they could move us up (due to a cancellation), which actually worked better for us. The delivery guys were professional, respectful of our home, and did a great job of putting the bed together. I prefer to stay out of their way so I didn't look at the bed until after they left. NOT what we had ordered. I called in and spoke to someone, they said they would let our salesperson know. I wanted to make sure the message got to him so I also sent him an email explaining the situation and included a picture of the (cheaper) bed we received. I received a response back within 5 minutes. No "I ordered what you told me to order." No "What you want is more expensive, you'll have to come in and pay the difference." Not even an "I don't know what happened!" Instead what I got was basically "I'm sorry for MY mistake. I'm ordering what you wanted today and will deliver it at no cost when it comes in. In the meantime, go ahead and use the bed we delivered today." Disappointed my son didn't get his bed today but Sherman's, as always, has exceeded our expectations and handled this in the best way possible. read more

I Would strongly recommend not using Shermans for appliance repair. I tried to get a washer repaired through a Frigidaire warranty. Frigidaire sent them a workorder. Frigidaire confirmed a Wednesday appointment with Sherman. I was asked by Frigidaire to call Sherman and confirm the appointment Sherman claimed they have never received the work order I called Frigidaire back Frigidaire resent the work order several times called Sherman and verified they got it but it turns out that Sherman simply refused it. It leaves me with no way to get my washer repaired fir 2 weeks. Frigidaire tried to call them to find out what the problem was and they refuse all calls now. read more

Why would you shop anywhere else for appliances or a TV??!? First and foremost, they will never be more expensive because they price match WITHOUT YOU ASKING. Seriously, it happened to me. At the payment desk and the sales guy literally says "Let me just see if any other sites have this for less than we do." I immediately looked around for the Candid Camera. When I looked back, he had found it somewhere else for $10 less and so deducted that right off the total without the least fanfare. (Compared to price matching at a big box store where you must bring in a notarized, laminated version of the latest ad plus sit through a phone call to that store while they verify that the item is "in-stock" because they only price match in-stock items. Oh they only have black in stock and you want white, no price matching for you!) Other benefits include zero pressure sales people who have worked there for possibly decades, no bored teens leaning against the washers like you get at Lowe's who don't even know how to wash their own clothes, let alone a benefits and features comparison between 2 machines. My last visit to Home Depot concluded with me stomping out to my car in a huff after wandering around looking for someone....anyone who worked there, let alone in appliances. Shermans sales people actually want to know about you and how you will be using the machine you are looking for. I know, sounds like I'm making this up but just try it, I swear you too will be looking for the camera. read more

My wife went to Shermans clearance center on Friday, February, 22nd looking to purchase a washer and dryer. She found a washer (Maytag 5.2 with delay wash- delay wash was a feature she definitely wanted on the unit. She also found a GE electric dryer. She made a down payment that evening on the units. On Monday, February 25th we both went to the main store on Glen to make final payment and set up delivery. Delivery was set up for Tuesday, February 26th. When the delivery truck arrived, one of the gentlemen told me there was something wrong with the washing machine and they would have to return it. I told them to take the dryer back too since we weren't getting the washing machine. I talked to customer service and told them of the situation. Customer service informed me there was not another washing machine available in the brand, size, or features. She refunded our account with Shermans and also told me she had talked to the sales department in appliances to make them aware of what took place and that we would be coming to the store that evening. Upon arriving at the store, the sales department told us all they could do was give us a new washer for basically the price of the washer we had purchased at the clearance center. The washer they showed us was just a basic washer ( smaller in cubic feet, with no delay wash option). In otherwords, in our opinion, Shermans was not willing to spend any extra out of their pocket to correct the situation. They were just going to give us a new washer with the same dryer we purchased so that the price of both was the same as what we had spent. Disappointed that Shermans would not spend a few extra dollars to rectify the situation and keep as a customer. Also, we had asked for a time for delivery if we did purchase a unit and they told us the best they could do was give us a 2 hour window for delivery. Seemed to us they could have put us as the first stop of the day. The only positive I have to say is the delivery gentlemen were very professional and did everything we asked. Needless to say we asked for a full refund and went elsewhere to shop for a washer and dryer. We felt Shermans treated us the same as the big box stores would have treated us. I purchased a dryer from shermans a few months ago. I have never been treated so poorly by the delivery staff who started by cussing and yelling at me because of the location of my house on the court. They then destroyed my flooring after pushing the dryer down the hallway and broke my blinds on the door. When the dryer didn't work properly, I asked for it to be taken with them which led to them cussing more. I had to return to peoria to select a new dryer and was told it was going to be delivered the following day which didn't happen either. I was told it had been accidentally marked for pick up but it could be delivered the next business day instead. I pointed out that I would be working as most adults do during traditional business hours. Sadly, I suspect if I had been male it wouldn't have been assumed that I would be available and at home. I did finally receive a working dryer and after a lot of phones calls; I received a small discount but never received the gift card in the mail that was promised to me. After more phone calls they finally agreed to pay for my flooring to be replaced. I was told by customer service I could pay for the flooring and then they would reimburse me which I declined. Considering that I have been waiting months for the gift card to arrive in the mail i highly recommend others to make the company pay for repairs directly. I bought some furniture in June. In 2 days it will be January. Still haven't received the couch Three times I have been told that it was shipped. Still hasn't arrived. Sherman's doesn't seem to care. In the past I have always purchased furniture and appliances from Sherman's. Previously had issues with appliances and the warranty no longer being covered since they stopped doing business with the company who was servicing the warranty. However since i try to shop locally I still purchased from Sherman's. Last time though. Customer service couldn't care less that I have been waiting for months. At the time of purchase I was told that due to Covid it would be 4-6 weeks. Since then i have purchased 2 major appliances and 3 items of furniture elsewhere. All of which were received in a timely manner. A friend of mine replaced a complete living room. No delays. I will never, never do business with Sherman's again. We were shopping for a washer and ended up at Sherman's. Everyone was wearing masks and hand sanitizer was readily available. Felt Safe. We were ready to buy the washer after we were told that they can do free delivery next day. Then we found out free delivery is only to my drive way or to the garage. They will not bring it into the house. For that I have to pay $129 (includes set up and haul away the old washer). Best Buy does all that $30. I felt that this was a rip off. Also, the sales guy tried hard to sell us some "special" laundry detergent for $125. Really!!! What is made of!!! We ended up buying the washer at Best Buy. read more

Our range was delivered by several employees. They all agreed that it came with the wrong parts so it would not sit level. They called right away to report this and took pictures. They said someone would contact me asap to come out and fix the issue. After a couple of days, I called to see when they were coming. They had not ordered the parts yet. A few days later they scheduled someone to come out. Of course you find out when someone is coming out the night before and they give you a lengthy windows of time that they will arrive. So one of us took off of work to wait the next day. He showed up and told us he didn't have the parts. I called Sherman's and they said they would order the parts. They rescheduled, we took off of work and they sent the same guy who said he had no idea how to fix it. At this point we have taken 2 days off of work and they still can't fix it! So I called Sherman's and they said h they guy was new and didn't know how to level it. Why send him twice? So they actually sent him back again with a supervisor who was supposed to watch him do it so he could learn. (Day 3 off of work for us). The supervisor briefly came in and then proceeded to sit in his car the rest of the time. It's still not level. We will never purchase from Sherman's again!!! read more

I bought a new washer and dryer in January. The store was great sales person great. However it my washer broke down and the customer support is severely lacking. I had to call them several times no one has come out to look at my washer. They just ordered parts and still have not come to look at my washer. I have been without a washer for 4 weeks. What the heck. Its freaking brand new. Now they want to just replace washer without still coming to look at it. And don't have it in stock and already did there order for the week. Now its going to be another 2 weeks until I can wash my freaking clothes. Are you kidding me. I will never buy from Sherman's again. This is ridiculous. Just come out and look at my washer for petes sake don't keep pushing it off. And why won't anyone call you back. I don't understand Sherman customer service. Never again. read more

We prefer to buy local and buy American, but unfortunately Sherman's hasn't worked out well for us. The positives is the sales team in nice and seems to be knowledgeable. First purchase was a dryer, about a quarter of the paint inside the drum immediately flaked out, but I thought "no big deal," and didn't complain. Our most recent purchase was a fridge. Even though it was way smaller than our previous fridge the delivery guys couldn't get it in and after about 45 minutes I had to call my husband home from work and he helped them, not sure why they were having issues. They seemed happy to just hang out at my house, very odd experience. After hooking it up, the water and ice maker wouldn't work. Had a phone consult with Sherman's to trouble shoot and it turned out to be a faulty water filter. They said they would order a new one. Two months or so later, the ice maker stopped working, they came and put in a new one, but still no water filter, they said it was on back order. So we order one off of Amazon and got it in two days. Now our washer that is 2 1/2 years old stopped working, faulty water pump. They said we should've purchased the extended warranty. Maybe not their fault, everything seems to be junk these days. Thought that I would ask about our water filter again, even though it's been several months and we had pretty much given up on it. They said they had no record of our faulty water filter until a couple months after we purchased and that's on us. They are pretty much calling us liars that it came with a bad filter and have no record of the many communications we had with the service department. The lady I talked to was rude and even seemed happy she couldn't help up. Very disappointed in Sherman's and everything we have purchased so far. read more

They don't call to update on parts ordering. All phone call updates had to be initiated by us. The "family business" they preach isn't accurate anymore. We were SUPPOSED to have an upright freezer delivered; instead a refrigerator was. I took the door off my basement to facilitate delivery and put it back on before we were informed of the error. VERY inconvenient. The sales staff at Sherman's are fine, the delivery people are not. We will not be ordering from here again. read more

We desperately needed new living room furniture. Our furniture we had before was cheap and all seats were ruined from young kids. We always heard such great things about Sherman's and always hear their ads so took a chance with them. Let me start by saying we knew furniture was on back order due to Covid, and that the wait would be a little long. We were told 8 weeks the day we ordered. They called every 2 weeks With an update on the status of the sectional. It quickly went from 2 months to almost 5 months. We were understanding, since it was out of their control. It took about 3.5 months for them to get it in and a week for them to deliver. We chose delivery, no installation and paid almost $100 extra dollars for them to haul away our old furniture. We were never told to do anything with the old furniture, just a time that they would be there. To make it easier, I moved the 2 couches on to the porch. They called to say they were pulling in and seemed annoyed when I told them they weren't at the front door, and tried telling me they would not be taking our old couches because they weren't outside. We were never told to have them outside. When I told them that, they told us that we could burn them in our backyard and they would not be taking them, even though they were already paid. I live in a tiny town, with garages, sheds, and houses close by in my small backyard. There's no way I would safely be able to burn two full sized couches in my yard in the middle of town. I then told them I would carry the couches outside by myself because I paid for them to be taken. me and my husband carried one piece of the new sectional in because they placed it right in front of the door we needed to get the old couches out. We had that one piece in the house and one couch out while they were getting the second piece of the sectional out of the truck. This was a three piece sectional. Before going to get the second couch out, I politely apologized for not having them out yet, and once again said that we were not told they had to be outside. We Went in and grabbed the last couch and brought it out when they were finishing up sitting down the second piece. One of the guys in a very rude tone said "it's fine. You're just holding us up from the next delivery." Keep in mind they still had one more piece of the sectional to get out of the truck and we were already done bringing the couches out, and had already started on getting the new couch pieces into the house when this was said. we ignored the snarky remark and they finished up and left. I'll give the review 2 stars because the couch came as described and in perfect condition, but that's all I'm giving because the customer service I received when working with both the store and the delivery drivers was horrible. Sadly, I don't think we will be shopping through them anymore, which is a bummer because we prefer shopping through a locally owned store with purchase this big rather than directly through a huge chain business. read more

We purchased a bedroom and living room set less than 4 years ago. Had problems from the get go. They didn't put the bed together right and said they couldn't get the couch through the door (although me and my friends easily did). We have already had to replace they bed. The couch and love seat are both coming apart at the seems. Luckily (we thought), we bought the extra protection on the living room furniture. When we call, they give us the run around and finally had us call guardian, the warranty company. Turns out, they never filed the paperwork with guardian. I'm guessing they don't have to pay if they don't file the paperwork and was just going to pocket the money. Then we found out they lied about what the extended coverage covers. We still don't have a resolution. I'm hoping not to have to get the Better Business Bureau involved. Avoid Shermans at all cost. Poor quality furniture and worse customer service! read more

They will be so friendly to sell you something, and then forget you after that. They love marketing that they're small, family owned, and has such great service. But it's all garbage. Being owned by one family doesn't make them small, and the customer service is on par with dealing with any other terrible big box store. It's just terrible. I'm very upset w/ the quality of their repairs and customer service. No such thing as "customer is always right" in this day and age. They are more concerned with making more money. We bought an entire living room set in 2009 and spent well over $4000.00. We've bought countless washer/dryers and TV's from Sherman's over the years. We went back b/c the products were quality and the customer service was always good. In 2013 we spent $3,861.94 on a bedroom set. NOT CHEAP! One of the night stands, not even a month after having it in our home, the veneer on the front table top portion began to peel off. I wanted them to replace the piece, they refused stating they always try to repair before they replace. I should have insisted they replace the piece b/c now the veneer is coming off again, in the same place it was originally "repaired." I get it - it's been over two years. But again, does customer service mean anything...the "customer is always right" - - - I guess not, since they figure the amount we spend every 3-5 years is no big loss to their company. After discussing this w/ the manager, all he would do is wave the consultation fee and offered $100.00 off a new night stand. BULL!!!! I WILL NOT pay Sherman's for this repair. If I have to have it repaired I WILL be going elsewhere. And guess what, I WILL NOT be shopping at Sherman's again...and I'm not close to re-furnishing my home. I have a huge kitchen project coming up where all appliances will be replaced - guess what? Sherman's will not be making a sale. Have a basement living area where furniture needs to be replaced, was going to go to Sherman's in the next month or two, won't be doing that - someone else will be getting my business. LazyBoy maybe. Ethen Allen? Ashley Furniture? How about Steger's Furniture in Pekin? I'm sure they want my money since Sherman's doesn't seem to mind losing ONE customer. I have another TWO bedrooms to furnish - Sherman's won't be getting that money either. BUT, I guess it doesn't matter since they're making so much money anyway, what's one customer. But there is word of mouth - I will tell my friends, family and colleagues NOT to shop at Sherman's. I will tell them to go elsewhere, even if you're not getting their price matched deals. I recently ordered a microwave that cost us $535.99. The sales person told us it would be in the following Friday. Sherman's kept changing the delivery date but never called us to inform us of this. We would only find out if we called Sherman's or if we went to the warehouse to pick the item up. Mind you the warehouse is in Peoria Heights and isnt the easiest to deal with. Spent a lot of time dealing with very rude customer service reps. I asked for my money back after dealing with this for over a month and instead of refunding my amount they charged me over a month ago Sherman's my card again for the same amount. I paid twice for an item we never received. When I contacted Sherman's about the refund not being issued and the duplicate charge, the customer service rep was very rude with me and could only tell me that it could take several business days to resolve! This was the first time I had ever done business with Sherman's and it WILL BE THE LAST TIME! The item we purchased was over $500 and the charging me twice I paid over a thousand dollars and they cannot offer me any explanation but only that the manager would have to contact me. The manager has never contacted me and I have called almost everyday about my money! Guess what-still not credited back to my account! THIS PLACE IS CROOKED! My second experience with Sherman's was quite different from my first. I bought a sectional 2.5 years ago from them and had a good experience, but I recently purchased appliance (4) for the kitchen in a property I am trying to sell. I set a delivery date, and was excited to get these new appliances. I set the delivery date out for almost 1 month as I was having some kitchen work done, and they told me it would be 2 weeks before they would be available. I got a call 24 hours before the scheduled delivery letting me know they didn't have ANY of my appliances, and it would be at least 2 more weeks before they were available. They actually upgraded a couple of these appliances because they sold me some models that were discontinued. I thought "no big deal" and we set a NEW delivery date. 2 weeks later, I have been corresponding via email with the salesperson who is giving me some updates on the status of my order. We came to the agreement that the microwave for above my oven is not available, they would deliver the other 3 on the agreed date. Then 48 hours before the scheduled delivery, I get an email saying they no longer have my dishwasher. They gave me several options (that were not of the same brand as my other appliances, and therefor would not match) and politely told me I would be responsible for the difference in price. I asked them what were they going to do about the fact that my contractor would not be there to install the appliances on whatever future date they actually delivered, but had been prepared to be there for the two previous delivery dates. They asked me to ask him to deduct the installation from my bill so I could pay them to install the appliances. At that point I had enough... they can't even get a delivery right, or know where my appliances are, but I should trust them to install a gas range oven??? And pay them to do it, even though they have screwed up repeatedly along the way. I canceled my order and got a refund, which was the most satisfying part of this experience. read more

NOT HAPPY. Bought a brand new Maytag washer in December and already having problems with it. Called Shermans and talked to someone in service. Explained the issue and was told they would have to order a control board. They didn't even look at the unit, just ordered the part and told me it would be in a week later. I asked what we were supposed to do for laundry in the mean time and I was told we could go to a laundry mat. I bought a brand new washer so I wouldn't have these problems. We waited over a week for them to call me to schedule the service and no one called. I finally called them and they apologized for not calling and they got me on the schedule. They finally came today and guess what? Had to order another part, probably because they didn't come to look at it in the first place. Now it will be almost another week to get them back out with another part. Part will be in tomorrow, but because its a Friday, they won't get me on the schedule until next week. Plus we are outside the Shermans return policy so can't even return it. I also offered to have them come Friday night, but apparently service doesn't work weekends? Saturday would even have been better than next week. They have next day delivery if you buy from them, but if you need service beware it is NOT next day service....My buddy warned me about Shermans service, but I had confidence in a local company. Apparently he was right and I was wrong to put my trust in Shermans. read more

Called Sherman's to repair (what we realized) a 17 year old fridge/freezer, that we believed was 8 years old @ our home in East Peoria. They repaired it, $185 service charge later, all good.It failed 3 more times in the next 6 weeks, and they came out, NO charge, before finally getting GE involved, and realizing there are no more parts available. Scott, the Service Manager was 100% honest on the last fix, and said the casing is cracked, no parts available, and it could last a week,a month, or 10 years. We decided as this was our primary fridge in the kitchen, to replace. We met with Steve Mackey, sales, (awesome patience, as we have an old house with an odd ball size for the fridge to go in to) and he nailed it down to about 3 options in our price range. The guy was sending us specs at 9pm for the fridge that would work in the opening. Heck, they even offered to take the original service call off the price of the new fridge! I declined that, as they were out an additional 3 times trying to get it right. New fridge delivered today, and Kenny, the Lead Deliverer was great. Understood the old house, and all doors needed to be taken off to get in narrow doorways, and reinstalled. I had a very positive experience with them from the service side to the new purchase side. Would definitely recommend for service & new sales. read more

After this last time when they delivered a damaged dryer, refused to install it because it was into copper which is against their policy (except they didn't tell me that till it was delivered already), didn't take away the old one for whatever reason I don't know and didn't leave the gas line that I bought. So then I talk to Noah at the store and he continues to tell me that they'll need to make two separate more trips to fix the dryer (not replace by the way) and then another to pick it up. Why should I waste my or my tenant's time two more times when they royally screwed it up to begin with and they just don't want to have to schedule it because it's too hard? Noah was quite condescending and liked to use words like impossible. Impossible is a code word for "you're not important enough as our customer to do right by you." I bought my first HDTV from Sherman's years ago. I was shopping for a new one not long ago and had another very good experience with Sherman's. The TV I chose ended up not having the features I was looking for, but they were willing to take it back (same day) with no restocking fee. I felt kind of bad about having to return it, but I will definitely look at Sherman's again the next time I need a new mattress or major kitchen appliance. read more

I would give negative stars if I could. Bought 5,000 dollars worth of appliances from these crooks. During delivery they scratched up our wood floor in the kitchen pretty bad. They initially claim they didn't do it, but after the countless amount of pictures we have as proof they sent someone to look. This genius says it's not consistent with the installation of the fridge. So we call back and they send another genius out to look who claims it is consistent with the installation of the fridge. THEN, Paul Stein has the audacity to offer my wife $250 dollars for the damage they caused.,Meanwhile my wife has several flooring professionals come by for a quote who tells us the entire floor will need to be replaced since they can't match the wood. So the $250 is a drop in the bucket compared to the 5-6k they say it will take to fix. So we inform Paul Stein and he offers us a whopping $750 dollars. An insult really. So at this point our $5,000 appliances are costing us over $10,000. In reflection, we should have gone to Lowes, or Home Depot, or literally any other store. Come to find out Sherman's is being sued for discrimination as well for equal opportunity violations. Big surprise. This we discovered after contacting a lawyer ourselves. Had I known they have absolutely zero integrity or accountability of their actions I never would have set foot in the door. Being active military and a former drill sergeant, it makes me sick to see crooked people like this taking people's money. However I am a firm believer in karma and I'm certain individuals, like Paul Stein, will get theirs eventually. read more

Although I had to raise a stink Friday morning and again this morning, they are installing a new dishwasher now, on a Saturday. The installation team has really gone above and beyond, on a Saturday, to take care of us. Even though they should have solved this yesterday,they made up for it today. I had just moved to Peoria and was looking to buy a latex foam pillow. I was told Sherman's was the place to go. It felt like I had walked onto a car lot. The salesmen, who most likely were working for commision, were like vultures. When the one who got to me first realized all I wanted was a pillow he became much less enthusiastic. He tried to sell me pillows that were much more expensive, memory foam, quilted foam etc, and not what I wanted. I found what I was looking for as he tried to direct me away from them. He pulled the pillow from my hands and walked me to a desk where I could pay. As I sat down he asked for my name and number. I told him I had cash and didn't feel like giving my name and number. He then had me wait ten minutes as he went to talk to a manager, returning to tell me, "I'm sorry, we can't sell you the pillow". I thanked him for his time and calmly walked out while thinking, "This ******* store can ******* ***** **** **8** 8**8**. read more
