I am absolutely thrilled to have a Veterinarian that I can recommend. I have had a very difficult time finding a Vet practice ever since my previous Veterinarian retired. Sherman Oaks Veterinary group was recommended to me by my sister, and after my first visit with my new cat, I am 100% sold. Firstly, the staff is extremely organized and very caring and courteous. I was very impressed with this. I was able to make an appointment without any trouble. However, it is reassuring, knowing that they have a separate section for walk-ins. I really like that, knowing that if an emergency were to happen, I could always wait and see a veterinarian with no notice. They have an app, which makes it very easy to organize your pet's care. In addition, the staff took the time to let me know about pet insurance and some of the considerations that I might want to think about. Overall, I would say that my first impression was that the staff really loves their job. They seem to care about providing the best possible service and love animals, which is essential for a Veterinarian office. It's strange to say that this has not always been my experience in the past. I highly recommend Sherman Oaks veterinary group. There is nothing more important than the care we give to our animals. I feel completely confident that my cat will receive excellent care here.

On a Sunday morning, my sweet pug began having sudden breathing issues, and I was understandably frightened. From the moment we arrived, Dr. Weston Richter, Dr. Andi Richter, and Dr. Sam Richter treated us with extraordinary kindness, urgency, and compassion. They moved quickly, communicated clearly, and provided outstanding care grounded in both knowledge and genuine empathy. What stood out most was how present and kind everyone was. Each person made sure we felt supported and understood. They treat everyone like family -- with true heart and professionalism. I left feeling deeply grateful, not only for the medical care, but for the humanity behind it. This clinic is a rare gem -- where skill, compassion, and integrity come together.

My dog bleeding all over his cone. It got much worse after this.

Around June of this year, my dog got an ear hematoma, and we took him to this vet. The doctor, who was female, communicated clearly about what was going on and told us we needed surgery. The surgery went well, and there were no complications. They told us there would be some bleeding, which was completely normal, and to bring him back once a week to check and clean his ear free of charge. Now, in early December, my dog has developed another hematoma, this time on his other ear. I liked the way this vet handled things and we've been coming here for a while, so we took him again. Since this had happened before, we knew exactly what to expect. The doctor we saw was an older man, and at first, everything was going well until we were hit with the bill. They tried to charge us for many things he didn't need, and I was very confused because, as I mentioned, this had happened before. They performed the surgery, and when they gave my dog back to me, he was bleeding everywhere. The image I attached shows what my dog looked like right after the surgery, and the bleeding became even worse after the picture was taken. After a week, we returned so they could clean his ear, and they attempted to charge us $150, even though last time they said it was included with the surgery. It started to feel as if they were trying to squeeze as much money from us as possible. I hate to write reviews like this especially for a vet that we've been coming to for such a long time, but this was completely unacceptable.

If you are a resident of Sherman Oaks and are a critical thinker, think twice about this local veterinarian. It came highly recommended by a neighbor. I had high hopes and wanted to support this female centric place, however, as a dog mom I would never recommend it due to poor communication, lack of accountability and customer service and a defensive/ hostile stance when questioned. I went back for a recheck of my dog's allergies and skin growths. Note that there are two problems I was seen for initially and the follow up was to include both. This was not the case. I had to remind Dr. Cortez to remeasure my dog's growths. Not all of the growths were measured and there were no recommendations communicated for care. She was focused on his allergies, which had not resolved. I received VERBAL directions for 4 DIFFERENT TASKS and was told she would email me. In the days that followed I called the office and asked for my summary and instructions. I' was told they would be emailed. This happened three times. Nothing was emailed. I was not informed that Dr. Cortez was sick until I was also being instructed not to come back in the email shown below. It's sad that Southpaw won't take any accountability for the excessive wait, poor communication and lacking customer service. I think customer service is a thing of the past, but it's a quality that's important to me. There was no apology or anything that even approached an apology. If you value the ability to ask questions and discuss issues about your fur baby as they arise then this is not your veterinarian either.

This review isn't about veterinary care. It's about a really bad policy of this vet practice. I…read morereally like Dr. Szabo and his care for my dogs was very good, but I won't be going back to the Pet Doctors of Sherman Oaks. My dog has taken a couple of meds for years and has to take them for the rest of her life. After I moved last year, I had to find a new vet and I took my dogs to the Pet Doctors for wellness exams. When I needed to refill my dog's meds a few weeks ago, I was informed by the receptionist that I would have to drive to Pet Doctors to pick up a paper prescription in person. That would take a minimum of an hour, during a workday. I asked if she could email the prescription to me, but she said they don't do that. I asked if she could send the prescription by mail, but she said they don't do that either. When I asked if they could phone in the refill to the pharmacy, I was not shocked to learn that they don't do that either. When I asked why they have such a policy, the response I got was probably more honest than management would have liked. The receptionist told me that they require clients to pick up paper prescriptions in person because.....get this.....they sometimes had to call in prescriptions more than once and they don't want to have to do that anymore. In other words, their paying clients should waste their time driving through traffic to do their job for them. After the receptionist talked to the practice manager, she came back to the phone and said they would make a one-time exception and mail me the prescription. That was February 6, 2026. When I didn't receive the prescription by mail after a week, I called back on February 13, 2026 and was told by the same woman that she had mailed the prescription a couple days earlier. It's now February 25, 2026, and I still haven't received the prescription in the mail. Once again, I asked to have them phone in the prescription to Costco pharmacy. They made another one-time exception and did that so I was able to get my dog's meds. This time. But, I'm not about to go through this unnecessary hassle every 90 days when my dog needs her meds refilled. This policy isn't just inconvenient for clients, it's likely to result in complaints to one or more state and local agencies because the policy could (and likely would) be interpreted as one that discriminates against people with disabilities, by making it far more difficult, if not impossible, for a disabled person to get meds for their pets. That may sound far-fetched, but it's not. Imagine telling a blind or paralyzed person that they have to get themselves to the vet office in Sherman Oaks to pick up a piece of paper that staff could just send by email. It's not only a very short-sighted policy, but is likely to violate one or more laws that require all businesses to be accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. I've never encountered such a policy at a vet office, one where staff expects clients to do their jobs for them so they aren't inconvenienced. It seems to me that the real reason for the policy is more likely to make getting prescription meds elsewhere so inconvenient that clients just buy them from the Pet Doctors directly. No, thank you. Their prices for my dog's meds are 3-4 times higher than retail pharmacies. I'm not about to pay more for my dog's meds. I'm going to find another veterinarian instead.

She's not only compassionate, present and knowledgeable, but also she does not oversell." Besides all the regular check ups, Dr G. has performed 2 substantial surgeries on my pup in the last 8 years, and has been extremely kind, providing valuable reassuring step-by-step updates throughout, especially aware that I had lost my beloved first dog, (with a different vet), when he did not make it through the anesthesia... In the 8 years Dr G. has been our one and only vet; everyone I have sent to Dr G. has fallen in love with her, and has thanked me for the referral. I trusted Dr G and her small compassionate team with the euthanasia of my precious second dog, Handsome. She is truly an Angel on Earth. At her Chatsworth location, I love that she's created a lovingly cozy "home environment" for the euthanasia experience. That it so needed during that deeply emotional time, and more veterinary offices ought to follow her example. I found her many years ago when I was dissatisfied with a busy veterinary front desk in Sherman Oaks, after they had made errors in my first dog's chart. Each time I tried looking for a new place, I would come across disturbing reviews about just about every veterinary clinic. I was stuck. This time, when I did my round of searches, I found Green Dog. I had nothing to lose and scheduled a wellness appointment for my Ridgeback. From start to finish, I was blown away. This was a true 5-star experience. We checked in with the friendliest staff and were immediately taken to our own private waiting room! I didn't have to sweat and strain to keep my 100+ lb boy from trying to sniff and annoy other dogs or try to run for the door. At this point, I would have been fine waiting longer than expected like is the norm at other places. But I didn't have to. Like a well-oiled machine, the appointment moves with a vet tech and usual questions about your pet's health and concerns. Another surprising thing: I was asked if I wanted any written prescriptions to go so I could shop around. I have never had this offered at a vet clinic; I have always had to ask for this - and then wait, and wait, and WAIT until I received it. My baby saw Dr. Candice Habawel. She came out with him after his exam and we talked (with zero rush) about all the things I could do to help his teeth, skin, weight. She was kind and attentive. When I left to pay, I noticed that there was an employee whose job it was to just keep the place sanitized and clean. I also really appreciated that. After this experience, I don't think I can go anywhere else. My eyes have been opened to the knowledge that veterinary visits don't have to be a horrible experience. My only concern is that I hope they don't get so busy that any part of their service changes.

I hope I'm not forgetting anyone, because everyone there is part of the dream team. My story is also a successful one, so I won't go into great detail. I've only shared here about the quality of my experience. I encourage you to read for yourself, and to build your own with them. I believe that you'll come to the same conclusion that all of us have. I couldn't be happier to have them along on my pet's journey back to health. Thank you We are truly one of your biggest fans. Sophie and family

Back here to write much deserved review for Dr. Dhillon, Mr. Serge, Dr. Salpi, and the whole…read moreMcGrath team! Since my last review (where our dog Peanut had a near-fatal overdose of dark chocolate and was saved by Dr. Salpi and team)... we've had a few more unfortunate emergency run-ins with our precious pit bull. First, our doggy was attacked in our own home and while she did her best to put up a fight and protect me... she was left very badly wounded. The hospital was nearly closing and Dr. Salpi immediately washed her wounds and gave the clearance for an emergency surgery next AM with Dr. Dhillon (who very kindly squeezed us in during his hectic work day). Turns out washing the wounds immediately just as Dr. Salpi did helped prevent very serious infections! The surgery was a great success and this staff treated Peanut like their very own. They gave her so much love, care, lots of hugs and kisses and frequently updated me on her recovery. We wanted to wait a few months until Peanut healed to spay her (as my husband and I had heard about pyometra risk)... low and behold the same month we had planned her spay surgery, Peanut had life-threatening pyometra. We could tell she was off and brought her in as soon as possible... Dr. Dhillon once again went above and beyond in her surgery. He even stayed extra to make sure we could squeeze her in before it was too late (and before she went into sepsis). So Peanut got prophylactic antibiotics before her surgery. This was something she tolerated well in the past but apparently the second exposure could have a reaction (which Peanut did). I am told she had very severe anaphylactic shock to the antibiotic, had a seizure and the staff feared her life. All the staff there that day teamed together in "code" fashion to give her supportive care and bring her back to. They monitored her very closely and ensured she was a-okay updating me thoroughly after this incident. It felt so good to know my previous angel was in the absolute best hands. Not only is this team highly professional and caring, I am certain they deeply care for each and every one of our babies like their own. I am so glad and thankful I found this place because it saved my Peanut's life not once... not twice... but three times now in very unfortunate freak accidents. Peanut must've been a cat in another life because so far she's had 9 lives thanks to McGrath Vet center and this team. And I promise we have a watchful eye on her, she's just got a lot of bad luck this year :( she is now thriving (prep fairy costume) we love you Peanut! We love you Dr. Dhillon, Dr. Salpi, Dr. McGrath and the whole team at McGrath vet. Thanks a million!!!
