To be clear, this location had no shortage of staff, just that nobody could do anything because the person checking people in was stuck with two people asking a multitude of questions that didn't have simple answers. There were plenty of staff ready to wait on customers once they were checked in. Despite Erin ordering me to look this way and that way, somehow the picture still looks terrible especially compared to my last two pictures. My one-star rating is because of the inefficiency of the office and how I felt as a customer being ordered about by Erin. If you can't be friendly, you shouldn't be in a customer-facing position.

horrible place to get a driver's license…read more The Carlisle DMV has a reputation for being a challenging place to obtain a driver's license, often criticized for its slow service, extended waiting periods, and a confusing bureaucratic process. Such DMVs are usually under-resourced, which leads to understaffing and a backlog of service requests. The physical space can be crowded and uncomfortable, compounding the stress of waiting. Technological limitations may cause further delays in processing applications. Patrons are advised to come fully prepared with all necessary documents and to anticipate a lengthy visit, possibly spanning several hours, especially during peak service times.

I'm not sure if it would be different on a weekday but it was crazy. If you're going on a Saturday or Sunday, I would get there as SOON as the doors open, or else you will be waiting for literal hours. It's not that the staff isn't working, but surely there's a more efficient way to handle things? Aside from that, the staff was nice! The woman at the end of the first line was checking everyone's documents to make sure they had everything they needed before they took a ticket for the larger waiting room. The process itself to get my real ID took five minutes. I'd recommend going with a full stomach, a book, or taking a friend to chat with/ befriend some other people in line or else it'll move at a snail's pace. Don't be miserable and you'll be fine.

Because of Covid, I was not allowed to enter the building with my son, so I was a little worried that things would not go smoothly and with trepidation, I went to wait in my car. 20 minutes later he returned having taken (and passed!) his exam, holding his permit and my credit card. After waiting an hour because they forgot about us, the manager came out to do the parking aspect of the test. I am pretty sure she didn't have an examiner to do the driving aspect of the test so she just plain failed him even though he parked perfectly. When I complained she ended just walking away from us, questioning my sons character! I'm not kidding. It was demeaning and my son was extremely hurt by this. I know about testing in vehicles well, I use to be fast jet aircrew in the military. Our training was the toughest there is. This was, by far, the worst experience I have had in the last few years. Just don't waste your time here. They are rude disorganized and incompetent. Shame on them.
