Not knowing any local shops, we chose A&J Transmission based on a strong recommendation. Jessie and his team were incredibly accommodating: they promptly got the vehicle to their shop, thoroughly evaluated the issue, and honestly identified it as likely tied to a Kia recall with potential extended warranty coverage (possibly even qualifying for a new engine). Instead of charging for unnecessary work, Jessie advised us to take it to a Kia dealership for warranty support. This level of honesty, integrity, and genuine customer focus in a stressful situation was truly refreshing--they went above and beyond without trying to take advantage. Huge thanks to Jessie and the A&J team for turning a tough breakdown into a positive experience. Highly recommend!

I left and got about two miles away and my car was knocking and barely running. I went back to this shop and they told me my spark plug magically blew out the head. They could put a helicoil on it but couldn't promise that it would hold. I allowed it. A few months later my car started acting the same way. I took it to another place and when they pulled the spark plug. ...it was a ford spark plug- I own a dodge stratus. It was almost an inch longer and had burnt up and fell apart. I have a bent valve and a hole in my piston. I called to inform them what they had done and Phil said fuck you and hung up. I wouldn't ever take anything to them. If I could give Budget Radiator and Automotive 10 stars, I absolutely would!…read more We were in Springfield from St. Charles for my daughter's MCDA Honors Choir workshops and concert when our 2015 Honda Odyssey suddenly started flashing warning lights on the highway--FCW, LDW, a flashing Drive indicator, and the check engine light. We were only about 7 miles out from our hotel, but we were worried we might be looking at a transmission replacement as it seemed like the transmission went "limp" and wouldn't change gears while driving! The team at Budget Radiator and Automotive got us in quickly, took the time to thoroughly diagnose the problem, and didn't jump to conclusions or try to sell us unnecessary repairs. They found that the alternator had failed, but they didn't stop there. During the repair they discovered the serpentine belt and tensioner were also failing because the belt kept slipping off. They explained everything clearly, showed us what was happening, and made sure the repair was done correctly. After replacing the alternator, serpentine belt, and tensioner, they checked the transmission fluid at my request, (which looked great), then test drove the van for about 20 miles to make sure everything was working properly before calling us. That's the kind of attention to detail and professionalism every customer hopes for. The van now runs beautifully, all of the warning lights are gone, and we have complete confidence driving it home. When you're traveling and your vehicle breaks down hundreds of miles from home, you're putting a lot of trust in a repair shop you've never met. Budget Radiator and Automotive earned that trust from the moment we walked in. They were honest, knowledgeable, thorough, and genuinely cared about getting us safely back on the road--not just fixing a car. Thank you for turning a stressful situation into such a positive experience. If we're ever in Springfield and need automotive service again, this will be our first call. I highly recommend Budget Radiator and Automotive to anyone looking for a shop they can trust.

Bought a used car from this dealership about a month ago. Loved the car, thought my salesman, Stan,…read morewas super nice, as was Micah, who worked on the finance piece. But I've hit one road bump after another over the past few weeks of having my vehicle. It looked and drove great upon test driving it, but once I picked it up a few weeks later, a button was missing on the steering wheel that was there when I drove it the first time. The dealership thankfully ordered the missing piece and installed it for me. During the test drive, I pointed out that the seatbelt light was on when no one was in the seat. Stan said that would go away after a while-- it didn't. I called their parts department about it, and was told it was a "Nissan problem". Took it to Nissan, was assured it would be under warranty since it probably had to do with a broken sensor or something-- turns out, something was simply unplugged under the seats that led to the no-seatbelt light (they assumed someone at the OG dealership accidentally unplugged it while cleaning the car). But because there was no faulty part to cover under warranty, Nissan charged me $240+ for a diagnostic and to plug whatever back in. This week, my A/C stopped working. Took it to a car shop-- turns out there was ZERO Freon in it, most likely due to a leak. I thankfully have 16 days left under the faculty warning to fix it at Nissan, otherwise I'd be out $800 (to start with). Owed the car shop $75 and truly hope everything else is covered under warranty with Nissan. Kindof annoyed none of this was addressed before I purchased my vehicle and I keep having to pay out of pocket. I don't think I've owned the vehicle more than a month yet.
