I tried it in three other restaurants and none of them came close to the Fairie Tree Inn. I would crawl on my hands and knees from Glasgow to Aberfoyle for another bowl of this soup.

It wasn't very busy for a Sunday afternoon, and we really needed a Sunday Roast Dinner. The decor and atmosphere was quite modern and recently done by the looks of things, and they have quite a cohesive menu. The Sunday Roast however left much to be desired. Chefs choice of veg was quite contemporary with baby sweetcorn, courgette and red cabbage. It wasn't to my personal taste and the quality was a bit lacking. We each got a desert, I had the chocolate cake with salted caramel ice-cream, and that definitely went some ways to improving my rating of the food! Overall, it was a little more pricey than I felt the venue and food quality deserved. I may go back to try something else at a later date given that it is so convenient, but won't be having Sunday Lunch there again.

We then got some tasters of their beers (three real ales and some craft beer too) and settled down to peruse the short but sweet menu in the very welcoming interior. The waitress was very nice too and both staff members were very dog friendly, with Luna enjoying some doggy treats courtesy of the house too. We chose our meals (a main sided portion of mussels and fish and chips with crushed peas) and enjoyed our beers. The food did take a while to come out but we were treated to a lovely crustini each free of charge whilst waiting. When our food came it was really good. A very large and fresh fish with lovely peas, and the mussels were excellent too. If definitely come back here and suggest you visit too.

Still a pretty new looking place that's bright, modern and very clean, with the weather being cold and raining outside I needed a hot drink to warm me up. I chose the large latte with a slice of the fruit loaf, service was quick but the young server placed my order at the opposite end of the table than in front of me, with the knife being placed blade towards me, I've been in the hospitality trade for over 25 years and this is the first time that I've seen this. In the time I was there that was a whole twenty minutes I was asked for my order twice even though I already placed it at the bar, the confusion was that the servers where not assigned a particular section and clearly didn't know what they where doing. The space is nice - there's lots of room and although it got a lot busier quite quickly after we went in, there was nobody sitting really close to us and it didn't feel crowded. As an aside, I don't often comment on the toilets but I was actually really impressed with the toilets here, they were lovely and I liked the little notice board in the ladies' with local notices on it. The breakfast menu has a great selection, with everything from a full breakfast to pancakes to French toast to eggs benedict to simpler options. And it's really reasonable - french toast with bacon and maple syrup would only set you back £4.50, the full breakfast is under £8. I went for the eggs benedict with crispy bacon, Him Indoors went for the full breakfast. Both were good - not knockout fantastic (one day I'm going to write a book about my hunt for the best eggs benedict in Scotland), but really good and, considering the prices, seriously good value for money. We sat and had a second round of coffees afterwards (the coffee was lovely) and with breakfast and two drinks each for three people it came to around £35. The staff were super friendly, really chatty and the whole atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I'd like to go back to try their evening food as well to see how that compares, but I would definitely recommend it for a good breakfast at a great price.

This is a cozy pub/restaurant. To drink I went with the house Rosé and I was not disappointed. For the meal I went with the 10oz Black Angus Rib eye with sautéed Paris brown mushrooms, onion rings, chips, roasted cherry tomatoes and topped with garlic & herb butter. Though the rib eye was cooked to perfection, perfectly pink and melt in your mouth like butter, I would have liked it a little bit warmer, maybe to melt the butter a tab more. Over all the meal was perfect, in fact I ate every bite. I also added a side salad, was it vivid in color, it was fresh and great tasting and nicely went with the meal. Service was great and friendly, glad to have stopped by for dinner.

Impressive decor and a fantastic welcoming reception on entrance. Opted for main course instead of the very well priced £8.95 lunch two course offer. I had lasagne and Fi went for Katsu curry. I opted for the blue cheese burger and it was quite possibly one of the worst burgers I've ever had - densely packed and not nice-tasting plus so overcooked that I couldn't even cut part of one side. HOWEVER, starters were nice, everyone else's mains were great, and they did a very very nice sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The service started off excellently, but the shifts clearly changed over while we were there, and then things slowed down. We waited about half an hour to get someone to bring us our bill. Would I go back? Yes. But I'd steer clear of a burger next time.
