This was our first and likely our last stay at this Sheraton. We had a 4 day conference here with about 200 attendees most of whom stayed at the hotel. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Meeting rooms were adequate. The restaurant served a mediocre, limited breakfast buffet with a similarly, limited menu. Lunch and dinner were more satisfactory and I really enjoyed the lump crab cake on a bun. However the food service was really awful due to the lack of sufficient staffing. Our last day there we waited an hour to get served our lunch and therefore actually delayed the start of the afternoon sessions! This place is HORRIBLE!!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I stayed here for a 3 day conference and we didnt have hot water on the second day of the stay. Justin at the front desk had no explanation. On the first night 10/7/18, they had so many kids staying there you couldn't get any sleep. ROOMS ARE NASTY. After check-in, I get to my room and there were M&M's on the floor. That tells me someone didn't clean. The parking grage smells like something died. It's rare for me wo write something negative I try to find a silver lining in everything....can't this time. One positive is that its walking distance ( 2 blocks) to downtown outside shopping mall. read more

Changed rooms from what was in the confirmation email because I ordered through priceline. Couldn't redeem food coupons for room service, only in the hotel restaurant. Our power had gone out and it was 20 degrees out. I called local places that took pets and decided to check in here. I was greeted by the same person who took my call so check was super easy. We settled down sleep well and hung out for the day. Lorenzo was very helpful with my situation of not knowing when we could return to my house he expressed a ton of flexibility. TWO STARS: To be a Sheraton hotel you would think they would have higher standards. In the case of this hotel it is not the case. The customer service at the front desk was good over the phone but once in the room the front desk is hard to reach. Used the cart for luggage upon arrival and check-in and the luggage cart had to two wheels split wide open. Get into the room no trash bags in the trash cans, no hand soap in the bathroom, cable wires unplugged, no fridge, and to top it off to start off 2018 no free WiFi in the rooms. The room was being renovated and the a/c unit was replaced by a much smaller unit, it cooled ok but looked horrible. The bathtub shower knob was jammed in the up position making it impossible to take a tub bath. There was no refrigerator, they will provide one if you ask. I had to ask twice to get one & around9 PM one was brought to the room. The bathroom was extremely small and not updated with working tub. The counter space was very limited. There was a nice floor lamp but no chair to sit in under the lamp but the lamp did Illuminate the refrigerator nicely. The bedside lamp was very difficult to turn on. There was no vending machine on our floor. There was an ice machine though. There was no microwave in the room but there was one down in the lobby if you cared to go down there to warm something up. My reservation was suppose to include breakfast but after checking in I was told that my room did not include breakfast. There was no clock or alarm clock in the room. They have a nice shuttle service that will take you anywhere within a 3 mile radius, that was very useful. I was told by a staff member that the hotel was at 17% capacity so one would think that there was a room that would be up to the standard of a Sheraton hotel. The hotel was clean. The hotel does not properly train or staff the hotel. Service was agaonizingly slow and TOTALLY disorganized. The bar area is a mess! They had staff of 2 people one evening though the hotel had booked some conference that offered the participants a free drink. Understaffed and not adequately trained. The bber taps all stopped working. Breakfast at Mica was torture. 2 people staffing a full restaurant to bus, take orders and serve. Ly meal was cold and overcooked. The wait for milk for the coffee was 15 minutes. There was NO ONE on the floor most of the time. read more

Parking always complementary on past due to hotel reward status including Monday nights stay but some reason they charged me for Tuesday night parking. This was a really disappointing experience for a $270 room. We drove down for a wedding and were not able to check in early. In addition, we were not able to check in at all until 3:20 because no rooms had been cleaned. ( Late check in caused us to miss a portion of our friends wedding. ) We were upgraded to the "dream suite" because of the late check in and we were happy with that, until we got to the room. I killed two large black flies right away on the window above the broken air conditioner. We also noticed a large white hand print on the head board. The room felt dirty and unkempt. Night time was a particular challenge. The ladies in the room next door stormed back into their room next door to ours at 2:15 and carried on until 3:30. Our call to the front desk did nothing. It's just so noisy, and there is absolutely no sound proofing between rooms. A metal door next to our bed seemed to amplify the sound of the party goers next door. It was a really brutal night to try to sleep. I can't imagine going back to this Sheraton, and was very disappointed with this experience. read more

The first thing I look for in a hotel is cleanliness, and this place is pretty good. I really inspect the beds, towels, bathroom counters, etc. In fact, I use my own lysol wipes to clean every surface and remotes, and the wipes weren't discolored when I finished, which is more than I can say for some places. The rooms could be updated but mine was in pretty good shape. Clean white linens and blankets. Clean white towels. Water was plenty warm for shower. Pressure was great. We did have to wait for a refrigerator in our room but the cork screw came fast lol! We also used the pool and during the summer most of the water is still in the sun until about 3:30pm. There was an attentive lifeguard, who was always checking the water chemical levels, and plenty of towels. We had a stroller and had to carry it down give steps so unsure about handicapped access. Not many shade umbrellas or chairs though. I'm very fair so this was not cool but luckily we had a camping chair in car and put it in some shade along a wall. We also had buffet dinner two nights for our large family reunion. I didn't enjoy the BBQ one but the other night was delicious. Rive with Peas, chicken cacciatore, green beans with garlic (the best I've had outside my home), and the caprese Salad the second night was awesome. Dessert was meh, but the cash bar was ridiculously high. Budweiser for $5??? I don't think so! Brought my insulated water bottle and craft beer the second night. Recently stayed here for business not so long ago. The lobby of this hotel looks really nice and probably newly renovated because the rooms lack what amazement you see in the lobby. There is a restaurant, bar and Starbucks right when your enter the main entrances. My room could of used some updating. The lamp shades were all cracked or missing pieces in them although the room was neat and very clean. They offer you promotional items/deals for being green and having them save water by not cleaning your room which I really liked. The cons are like others mention - the everyday cold showers, I'm all for reusing but the water bottles in my room all had a broken seals and the walls are too thin as I got a phone call from the front desk for a noise complaint while my TV was on one of the lowest levels. For being a Sheraton I thought the rooms would be a tad nicer but it does look like they are slowly renovating. Overall I would stay here again as it is conveniently located. read more

This hotel is a big dud. I read some of the other low-star reviews and the people are spot on. Totally rude and unfriendly staff. I felt like I was bothering them if I had any questions. Whatever re-model they did, you can tell it was fast and cheap in the rooms. The walls were paper thin. Most of the money was put into the lobby to lure you in. Our first night we checked in, we shared the floor with a bunch of partying 20-year-olds who enjoyed playing loud hip-hop music in their rooms and running up and down the halls screaming at their boyfriends. The staff watched and did nothing as groups of kids stuffed themselves into the elevators to go and party with their friends staying on our floor. The kids even asked us to swipe our room key so that the elevator would work for them. Naturally, I called down to the front desk once we got to our room to tell them there was a party. They didn't do anything. Since it was already 2AM, we just stuffed toilet paper in our ears and hoped to fall asleep. The next night, the party kids had left but now we shared a wall with a mom who liked to yell at her two children. The mom enjoyed telling her kids she was going to whoop their ass and the kids would get scared and cry. The only time the kids weren't crying was when they were jumping up and down on their beds and rough housing in their room. Don't stay here. read more

Oh dear. One of the more "interesting" Sheraton stays of my lifetime to say the least. I stayed on the club level and as a regular has me questioning future stays on the club level. First off for all, the building is oddly shaped almost like a circle. Things are at weird angles and the windows are minimal. They don't care if newspapers are a day or two off either. As I state later, great employees but terrible management. NOT along the same lines of Sheraton management elsewhere. Upon checking in shortly after 6pm I went to the club lounge as I usually do when staying at a Sheraton. HOLD UP! There was ONE appetizer...some weird wonton thing that neither myself or the other guests in the lounge could quite identify. As someone with allergies, not ok. At least in my experience, there's always a Club Concierge who is in charge of the lounge be it tending to the food or guests. While there's a DESK in this particular lounge (presumably where said Concierge would sit) there certainly wasn't such an individual there during my stay. I would have simply asked said Concierge what the lone "appetizer" was but they didn't have one! Which brings me to the saving grace of this hotel...the front desk staff. I marched on down to them as I was NOT paying $250 for the club level only to have a single appetizer. As I'm sure many people agree, as guests we have expectations when it comes to the club level at this place was absolutely not up to par. Luckily, the front desk employee was amazing. Turns out she had to manage the club level lounge AND check people in at the same time. She said they have "regulars" who stay on the club level who simply have food made for them alas the lack of appetizers the rest of us are used to! What about those of us who are used to every other Sheraton across the country with legitimate club lounges?! Nonetheless, she called the chef who promptly came out to meet me. He couldn't have been kinder. He asked what I'd like to be delivered up there and said he could make anything I'd like and even have it delivered to my room instead of the lounge. Again, that explains a lot. It just didn't feel right ordering an entree (which should include service fees and tips for other staff members) in place of the appetizers that are typically part of my stay. I simply asked for the standard veggie platter I'm used to at every other Sheraton. He asked about what else I might like and did the best he could. I said bring it to the lounge knowing there were a handful of other starving guests up there. Shortly thereafter, front desk lady brought up one of the best veggie platters I've ever seen with multiple dressings as well as various pizza bites as the restaurant has an extensive pizza menu. The guests must have smelled the food as everything was gone within 15 minutes. Still, it wasn't replenished which sucks on behalf of management because that's not what we're paying for! While I was so appreciative of the front desk employee and the chef for doing what they could to fix the situation, management should NOT have employees who have another primary responsibility, acting in place of the Club Concierge returning customers have come to expect from Sheraton. Again, amazing employees but poor management! The best part was at the strike of 10am as I was still eating my breakfast, the employee tending to the lounge removed everything, turned off the lights AND the TV that I was watching. I was speechless. Never have I experienced such a thing. Ever. Clearly management needs to do a refresher course on customer service as you don't turn the lights off on a customer at 10am PERIOD. While this employee wasn't at the front desk he clearly had some other position that was much more important than tending to the club lounge. At least I hope so as there's NO EXCUSE for ever turning everything off on a customer especially in the morning. Lastly, as of noon on the day I checked out, they still hadn't replaced the Tuesday newspapers with the Wednesday papers. Making us read USA Today is bad enough but you can't even replace the papers from the prior day? Honestly made me feel like I was in Groundhog Day. I hate to say it but even as a dedicated customer I won't come back here. Not the level of service I'm used to and not worth the extra $100+ to anyone out there torn between a standard room and club. The moment we got to the front desk there was only one person available to check people in. We had our dog with us which is fine since they have a pet policy that allows dogs under 25 lbs. However the rules for the pet policy are quite ridiculous things like if the next door guest feels they were Disturbed that we would have to pay for their stay. We ordered room service at 9 p.m. and there was a normal wait time but when we got our food it was the completely wrong order. By the time we got our food it was nearly 11 p.m. when we went to exit the parking garage the machine wouldn't take four of of our cards for no reason. It has been four months and no resolution for overcharging an evening. This review is limited to how the Sheraton Silver Spring treats its guests during a conference. In essence, Sheraton seems to have charged the conference organizers for 3 nights during my time at a conference. Yet, I was only there for two nights. I wondered if this was going to be an issue, when they had issues with swiftly checking me in, and when I called the week before, they had issues finding my reservation. About a month after the conference, it looks like the Sheraton Silver Spring charged the conference organizers for 3 nights stay, when I was only there for 2 nights. It has been four months and I called a few times and never heard back on the resolution (pay the organizers the one night overcharge). The organizers themselves have not been aggressive and only heard something 3 months after all of this. I'm disgusted by the lack of appropriate responsiveness to this issue. In particular, this is several hundred dollars that the Sheraton Silver Spring has taken from an overworked and hectic nonprofit conference. The money was intended to cover travel for attendees. I'm convinced there are other overcharges involving other attendees, but I'm guessing I'm one of the few folks willing to keep on checking on the status, rather than not worry about it and let this hotel keep extra money from the folks who attended this conference. We just got here, so this is an early time to review, but the service has been outstanding. We had flight issues, and showed up a day late. We have Starwood rewards, so I called them; I was not charged for the cancelled night, AND when we finally made it in the next morning, our room was ready for us. The Sheraton even comped our breakfast, just because of our miserable travel situation. We have a suite, as we have two teenagers with us, and it is a rare TRUE suite, with a completely separate room and two pull out sofas. Very nice accommodations. We're so glad we decided to stay at this Sheraton. Starwood just does it right. read more

Very slow room service. Unprofessional and sometimes rude front of house staff. Non-responsive security when I called about my "neighbor" harassing me at 8:30am regarding noise in my room that did not exist. Had to ride same elevators with staff carrying trash and dirty linens. Just here for the evening. First off, plenty of parking for $14. Hotels downtown DC offer parking for about $30-40, so this was a plesant surprise. The front desk staff greeted me as soon as I walked in. The location is downtown in Silver Spring so there are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. The rooms are clean, however the view from most rooms to an empty parking isn't great. I would definitely stay here again for the price. read more

Convenient downtown location located ten minutes walk from subway stop. Nice room with 2 free water bottles daily. Elegant lobby, computer area, on site restaurant and Starbucks. I will be spending more time here no doubt. Patrons seem middle tier, a mix of business class and common folk. Large number of teenagers around; I don't know what explains this. Don't stay here book a room elsewhere, this place is dirty, holes in the walls from the headboards being removed. The phone was broken in my room so I had to go downstairs to communicate with the front desk about the filthy conditions of my room. I asked if they had a microwave and was advised not for public usage but the would bring one to my room for $15 to warm up my meal. The breakfast food is terrible, I suggestion walking to eggspectations at the mall down the street. I had to as for tea, cups, stirs and sugar nightly, the front desk told me you need to get your supplies from housekeeping. Lol I explained how dirty the room was when I arrived and nothing was done until days later, is the front desk not responsible for advising housekeeping about the issues a guest is having, I guess not at this sheraton. The lounge has water and drinks for people who have access and they also have breakfast in the morning and light snacks in the evenings. Rooms are spacious with what looks like 40" TVs. read more

A hassle from the moment I checked in, this Sheraton was a piss poor decision for my stay in Silver Springs. I stayed here on business and paid for the room a week in advance. When I arrived, I was asked for my credit card in order to "cover liability" in the event i damaged anything. I was told the charge would be 35% of my total, which should have been about $280. I gave them my card since this is pretty standard now, and they attempted to charge me upwards of $1200. My card declined since I have security measures in place to reject charges over $1,000 without notifying my bank first. In front of other guests, I was denied from getting my room key and told to contact my company. I was told the room was not paid for (despite having a confirmation #, receipt, and my boss on the phone). It took about 40 minutes to resolve the issue. Secondly, when I checked out at the end of the week, they told me that everything charged to my room would be charged to my personal credit card instead of the company card that I used to pay for the room. What's the point of charging things to my room if you're going to ask for a second method of payment for those items? I was denied and told I could not charge my room service or hotel dinners to the company card. I felt bad for the staff because they're forced to enforce these shit policies. I'll never come back and I'll advise all of my coworkers to avoid this location. read more

My 14 year old son stayed here on a class trip to D.C. The first day there, it rained torrentially. My wife advised him to hang his soaking clothes ( a brand new Under Armor sweatshirt, brand new cargo shorts and tee-shirt) in the closet to dry. Naturally, when he checked out two days later, he left the clothing in the closet. When we called the following day to inquire if housekeeping had the clothing (after 3 unreturned messages) we were told no, nothing was left behind. Um, yes there was. Obviously the housekeeper has someone in their house with a brand new outfit. You'd like to think if you accidentally leave something behind in a hotel you'd have an opportunity to retrieve it. read more

We stayed at this Sheraton for a total of 4 nights. The hotel is located within walking distance of mediocre shops, decent restaurants and even a market (Whole Foods). There is also an LA Fitness down the street, a Wells Fargo next door and a Starbucks in the lobby. Speaking of the lobby, it is clean and well maintained and the staff is friendly and helpful for the most part. Now, the worst part of our stay was the room as it is in need of major maintenance. Hotel management shouldn't rent it out to any further customers until these issues are resolved. First, the air-conditioning unit sounds like an airplane is landing on your head which is super pleasant when attempting to fall asleep. The toilet in the very small bathroom keeps rotating the water in and out which makes a flushing noise 24 hours a day. Their outlets by the beds do not work so our room phone was unable to be charged and therefore didn't work. I also wasn't able to use it to charge my phone either because the plug falls out unless you are holding it the entire time. Upon checkout, it was recommended by the front desk that we take a car service to the airport because it is cheaper than the taxi. They weren't sure of the price and when the car service arrived, they wanted $85 which is $15 higher than what the taxi service quoted me. I am not sure why the hotel is recommending such a service unless they are getting a kickback from the referral. Overall, this is a Sheraton that you stay in when you are at a conference and have no other choice. read more

When you book a hotel with the Sheraton you should know what to expect. It was better than my expectations. We stayed in a suite which was surprisingly well maintained. Bar next to the lobby was sufficient. Many televisions near the bar if you are into sports. We caught a couple of NBA playoff games there. A few things that I noticed was that there was no DVD player in the room, no mini-fridge, the shower faucet was ancient and the water took at least two minutes to warm up, and the wi-fi is another expense that the hotel adds. I enjoyed the comfortable beds, however. The addition of a Starbucks in the lobby also helps quite a bit, but overall, this hotel does not offer anything extraordinary. read more

We booked this hotel for a wedding and generally hotels that normally charge for parking don't when you book as part of a wedding agreement. This hotel charges $14 a night unlike the many others such as the Hyatt. Additionally as others have stated this hotel is outdated and not well kept there's wallpaper peeling in the hall ways and a musty smell. There's no fridge in our room or microwave and if it's like the Tyson in Sheraton the only microwave is for platinum SPG members. Look elsewhere this hotel isn't worth paying extra for! read more

GO ELSEWHERE! Where do I begin with the nightmare of staying at Sheraton Silver Spring! Spur of the moment, my boyfriend and I decided we would get a hotel room in Silver Spring to be near the city for holiday shopping deals and festivities. He's a Starwood rewards member so when we saw there was a Sheraton Silver Spring the decision to stay there was a no brainer. The hotel was average at best. Decor, facilities, and accommodations were tolerable. They were dated but doable for a night or two. I would not book here for an extended stay (although my boyfriend may disagree since he's a rewards member). There was coffee and tea in the room, no water. Lorenzo checked us in as normal, and we provided my credit card to which we told him we would be paying by the card on file with my boyfriend in his rewards account. Upon check out my boyfriend was told he was fine, and we went on our way. Fast forward to Friday when my credit card is actually charged for the stay and causing issues with my automatic payments on my account. The subsequent level of customer service and communication from the management team was abysmal. I spoke with my boyfriend and he said the woman said everything was fine upon check out and he was not provided a receipt. A receipt or check out slip was also not slid under the door the morning of check out. On Friday, I called the company to inform them of the mishap, and they say a manager would have to call me back on Monday after speaking with accounting. No one called me Monday, I called close to the close of business and left my information for the manager on duty Togi, however I never got a call back from either. What I got was a disgruntled representative named Winnie who insisted on thinking I was blaming her when I simply wanted a steady for of communication and someone working to resolve this matter. The icing on the cake was when Winnie placed me on hold, just to let the music play for the duration and the phone to ring again and her to pick up and ask me if I was ready to talk, as if I were a child. On Monday, my boyfriend also went up there but was told Togi left and nothing could be done. Needless to say, Tuesday I went up there to clear this up. After several conversations, and checks the manager Nane was able to figure everything out, and my boyfriends card that was initially supposed to be charged was charged. However, it is a day after he has paid and I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY REFUND! I called today to speak with the manager guess who's on duty....Togi! And he is supposed to call me back (side eye). So now they have received two forms of payment for this one room with incidentals. My recommendation is go the other way, the low level of customer service is not worth the mediocre rooms and service. Sure they may be friendly with simple check-in and check-out guests, but God forbid your card is mischarged and you need ACTUAL service, because they are unable to provide it in a friendly and professional manner. read more

I gave the hotel two stars because of its excellent location: it is within easy walking distance to the Metro and vivacious downtown Silver Spring, which is a lively, multicultural area with lots of restaurants, shopping, and great activities, such as a fountain for kids and live music. There is also a Starbucks adjacent to the hotel which has a decent variety of stuff for a small store, and which has a very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel restaurant made an absolutely gorgeous fruit bowl for me, generous, fresh, and tasty, and the restaurant staff were all pleasant. But the cons, oh the cons. The room was a bit worn, but the bed was comfortable. The cleaning was slipshod, the soap is tiny even for a hotel, there is no fridge, we received one free bottle of water upon arrival as a "welcome" favor, and none thereafter. Soiled trays and dishes were left outside the doors of some rooms for as many as 16 hours. Worst of all was what was an obvious taxi scam, probably aimed at unsuspecting out-of-towners. My husband requested a cab for a ride to downtown DC. After a few minutes, one of the staff directed him to an SUV. The driver insisted on $45 for a trip downtown. My husband refused, again requesting a taxicab. After a few minutes, the same staff person directed him to ANOTHER SUV, with the driver demanding $40. My husband decided to try to flag down a cab on the street. When he found one, the driver told him that many hotel desk staff members receive kickbacks from car services, so they try to steer folks to them instead of to a taxi, which would be much cheaper. I can't prove that this was the case, but my suspicion is nine on a scale of one to 10. I'm stayed at various hotels, and I'm not fussy. I do expect a hotel with a name like Sheraton to have a higher standard of quality and integrity. read more

I was turned off by this hotel due entirely to the poor housekeeping I experienced. Upon check-in, I discovered a half eaten cookie in the drawer, a plastic flosser by the desk, stains on the sheets, and dried poopy on the toilet seat. While this may be a one-off incident, the person who cleaned the room prior to my arrival is probably still working there since this happened last week. Good luck and wipe the seat. read more
