Hosted my 40th birthday party at Creative Saints and the space is beyond dope. The customer service was amazing before, during, and after the party and they kept me abreast of all details the entire time. It was super easy to book a walkthrough, am check in was smooth, and a staff member was on hand the entire time. The acoustics for the DJ were perfect. Beautiful space, and owners come off considerate and thoughtful at first, but they honestly nickel and dime their clients over every single part of your experience. To each its own in terms of their experience and that was mine. Other than that, the venue was a spacious place and the event staff was helpful. Since you'd like to paint a one sided narrative here is the OTHER SIDE TO YOUR COMMENT BELOW I went to tour your space and upon touring another client booked the same day I was looking for. YOU graciously called and said hey didn't realize they were going to book, if you can move your party to either a Friday or Sunday, we could offer you the upstairs den and no charge. I thought oh wow, how amazing! I'll go ahead and move it to Friday. So, for you to say I was discounted implies I went to you seeking your upstairs for free and I did not. Secondly you are mentioning timelines as if you all reached out to me to confirm or check in for anything prior to me emailing and calling the week before to ensure everything was squared away. You did not, but upon our call I realized three things 1. I would need more time than I thought so can we change over to a full day buy out and add some time on Thursday evening to get into the space vs what I had originally and you said you would have one of your girls rework the contract 2. what you were calling the den was not the room that is upstairs which was what I needed for my installations- hence the miscommunication and why I added on the room upstairs "the week before" Had I known THAT room I needed wasn't the actual den that you offered, I would have added it from the beginning. I apologized for my confusion & asked to add it on, so the picture you're painting over miscommunication is wrong and low to do to a client who apologized having not known your internal terms. And 3. If I had my own bar service that wasn't your preferred it only required a fee, which you charged me, so you're mentioning that for? I paid the fee to bring in someone , which was allowed with a fee, correct? You switched my contract over to full day and added Thursday to get into the space as well with the added den. Having added Thursday to start my installations I asked can my chair be delivered. you said the girl who does tours will need to be paid to stay and wait for my delivery (even though she is ALREADY there on Thursdays- that will be $75 more. I said ok. - (nickel and dime ) Then the delivery comes with my things for Thursday (which I paid to have access to) via the contract you sent and you call me upset that I have more than a chair delivered. I didn't know we needed to tell you every item that was needed for the installation upstairs if we now paid to have access that evening and the full next day. I digress- you then say i can only stay in the loft upstairs and not set anything else up unless I pay $75 an hour additional. (MEANING , yes- you're in our space but if you move anything downstairs you'll owe $75 x5 hours - NICKEL AND DIME) I said ok we won't start downstairs. Friday morning comes, I'm at the space at 9 like we chatted about with the new full day access - you say it starts at 10 not 9 , that will be $150 extra. Like MA'AM I understand it's a business ran off of rentals but how can you not even see how you all operated creating this sense of nickel and dime experience for someone. (Mind you-you did not open the doors until 9:10am, so should I have asked for a $4.78 return since it wasn't my full $150 hour?) In the same conversation I asked about a Saturday PICK UP for the same items that were delivered. You said that comes with full day buy outs so we can do 8-10. (Mind you the space was broken down, and returned to its original setting with all the pick up items placed at the garage door) The rental company had a window and arrived at 10:11 and were gone in30 minutes. i was not holding your space hostage, and breaking down anything- just waiting for a truck to pick up. the cleaning lady could have come in and started all she needed to do. So including Saturday in your "3day comment" to try to gain a point is for what reason? Lastly, we paid to have the space until 1 am - upon cleaning and moving things back and waiting for a Lyft we didn't finish cleaning NOT partying until 1:45 & walked out of the space officially at 2:01. They took an additional $400 out of my security deposit without communication first to say - hey you were 45 min over you know that comes with a penalty, that penalty will be taken from your secur You claim you communicated and it's all in your contract. And what I'm saying is MY EXPERIENCE WAS a nickel and dimed experience so as a black business you were kind in the beginning and ultimately made me as a black owner feel uncared for and nickel and dimed. I wasn't going to go into detail on here, but you will also not paint a one sided narrative about MY EXPERIENCE. 15 hours(full day buy out) + 3 paid for hours on Thursday read more
