Cozy hotel, a little out dated. The front desk staff, cleaning crew, maintenance were all fabulous and friendly. The lounge is nice, but the breakfast is pretty minimal. Lots of chilled drinks and a coffee/espresso/hot chocolate machine made the lounge worth it, though. The fitness center was really great, more room and equipment than most. The room I had was big enough and I have no complaints about it. Lots of parking, convenient location, and Lela Restaurant wasn't bad at all! The hotel is very nicely decorated and the rooms are comfortable. The one thing I don't understand is why the room is so ill equipped for modern technology. There are no outlets or charging ports on the bedside table. The one "charging port" only has two conventional outlets and no usb outlets and is across the room. I do everything on my phone and I am on call this weekend, so that's inconvenient. Thankfully, I brought my own extension cord that accommodates chargers for my devices. *Edited There actually ARE charging ports next to the bed. It took me awhile to find them. They are on the side of the nightstand. The USB ports didn't work, but there were regular outlets to plug in my charger. I have been staying here regularly for the past several years unless there is an event that would create noise at night e.g. wedding events. Most of the time, the club is clean and well stocked but this time, the snacks were limited and the coffee machine stopped working by day 2. Parking is never an issue here and is free. There are nearby places to eat, just in case you choose not to use Lela's. Rooms are very clean and the staff are friendly. We held a party for almost 300 and stayed one night in this hotel. It was beautiful and comfortable, but I took off one star as the front desk seemed understaffed for the amount of customers, and most of the other nearby hotels offer a pool for the same price as this place. I removed another star because i wished the food was better. The beds, pillows and bedsheets in the room were very comfortable. I wished they had more/better lighting though. Everything else was fairly standard. The ballroom was beautiful and I enjoyed the modern styled chandeliers. The are adjacent to the ballroom was large and handled the pre-dinner crowd very well. The service was hit or miss. Front desk (3/5). Seemed understaffed for the amount of customers. Event Manager (0/5). The first event manager left the company before our event, and failed to take notes or relay any information to their successor before our event. Event staff (4/5). During the event, the entire staff was helpful and most were friendly. Buffet (3/5). Loved the salmon, but the chicken was tough and lacked flavor. Worst experience ever. the so called general manager Michael is THEE WORST EVER HE LACKS IN CUSTOMER SERVICE, HE'S VERY IGNORANT AND RUDE WITHOUT ANY COMPASSION FOR OTHERS. HE SHOULD NOT BE WORKING WITH THE PUBLIC. Melissa agreed with everything that Michael led her to believe. We had 4 rooms for the weekend. We were charged twice for 1 of the rooms in error and he refused to make things right.(paid in full thru Expedia and he was already aware of it) Threatened to have my family and I removed from the premises without providing a refund and called the authorities on me for his wrong doing. Then after expressing that the incidental amount was only an authorization now has turned into an actual charge. Michael didn't leave any notes for the night auditor advising them that the card should have not been charged. Who wants to come on vacation and deal with this nonsense. What happened to customer service? In addition, pay attention to the credit card readers when you check in, they don't reflect the $ amount that you are agreeing to. the screen is blank at ALL times. The incidental amount shoukld have been $100 not $322 had to readers reflected it, this would have been caught upon check-in on Friday. NEVER EVER AGAIN read more

Very comfortable beds, clean bathrooms and lobby, but the rooms that face the lobby don't have great blockout curtains so when you have the light on in the room the people in the lobby can see you which isn't pleasant. You can also hear people in the lobby and/or the rooms next to you when in those lobby-facing rooms so they're not great for light sleepers. 1/3 staff was kind and helpful, the others weren't very hospitable and helpful. The hotel bar is nice and there's a cafe that's open in the morning and evening. Overall just an ok stay. read more

this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The TV system is so old one need not try and get it to work. The lighting system in the room is worthless. The desk clerk even agrees it is an old hotel and hasn't had any updates. We are Marriott Bonvoy members with some status. Let me tell you - don't stay there because you have loyalty to Marriott. It us to be a beautiful hotel - not anymore. By the way, if you have status you can go to the 'club' for breakfast. It is inn a dungeon - can barely find it. Food is disgusting. This is the former Sofitel. I didn't stay here but had a business meeting here. It's been 10 plus years since I've been here but the place is gorgeous. The lobby area is luxurious and spacious. There is plenty of room and lots of comfortable chairs. They also have a bar nearby to get a soda, coffee or drink. The lobby area is a great place to meet for a small business meeting. It's quiet, professional and creates a nice ambiance and setting. And is a nice change from Starbucks. read more

Helped host an event here and it was great! The open area below the lobby is beautiful and perfect for a larger cocktail style event. We had over 200 people which was a tiny bit crowded but still worked really well for a more casual style event. The food was surprisingly really, really delicious. We had a variety of stations - tacos, carving station, sliders, macaroni and cheese, etc. All of it had rave reviews from the guests. This was a nice hotel near Minneapolis for a Saturday to Sunday stay. The outside view of the hotel was pretty old looking except the entrance. It is definitely more modern and nicer looking. When we walked into the hotel, it was a little strange since it was encased, kind of looked like the outside with a tent over it. But once we checked in, we got a complimentary suite upgrade which is always a nice thing and access to the club lounge. The room itself was pretty amazing! The suite was about 1,000 square feet with a huge living room and dining table, 1.5 bathrooms, king size bed, huge bathroom with two sinks, a bath rub, and a shower (with two shower heads! Check pictures below). It was pretty fancy and really well kept. The club lounge was pretty good too, no hot foods, just snacks and drinks to snack on. There was a business area to do work on desktops and print things out. Also tons of tv screens to watch whichever channel you wanted. The fitness center was also very impressive! I loved their treadmills since it simulated real life runs and trails around the world so that was pretty nifty. All their equipment were placed in the right order and they had a lot of complimentary towels and waters in the fitness room. Overall, I enjoyed the stay at the Sheraton hotel. They were very accommodating and even brought me contact lens solution since I forgot it. Super awesome! And I was surprised how packed it was considering how old the infrastructure was on the outside, but never judge a book by its cover! read more

We really enjoyed our stay here, even with this pandemic/riots we felt safe and the room and hotel over all feels very clean. Andrew was also very nice and helpful as well as the rest of the staff. We will definitely plan on staying here again. I recommend getting their coffee machines (they take them out of each room for sanitary purposes after each check out) and getting the Peet's coffee that comes with it. Really good and really strong. My only wish for next time would be if they had better sugar (sugar in the raw, etc) and regular half and half (not the non dairy stuff), but that's small potatoes and I can live with that :) It's also a very beautiful hotel inside! read more

By far one of the best hotels that I've stayed at. I constantly have to stay at hotels in Minneapolis because of trade show travel but I hate staying at the one the event is hosted at.. This location is beautiful from the minute you walk in to the minute you enter your room. The rooms are extremely spacious & the staff is always incredibly understanding of your needs. The lounge is always tidy and the food they have out is always worth being a member for. I have never been to a better Sheraton because there are some where you walk into the lounge and find nothing or its trashed.. You will never have a problem like that here though. Highly recommend if you are ever staying anywhere you should definitely stay at this location while in the area. read more

The beds are super comfortable...as are the pillows and big squishy down comforter. Good hotel beds aren't frequent! This is a huge win! Super soft towels and robes. Another infrequent find in a hotel. 4 stars - Club Lounge. It is really large, lots of great seating and nice tvs. A great coffee machine. Fruit, pastries and two hot items each morning. 3 stars - No store to by anything you forgot to pack. This is odd to have nothing in a hotel of this size. 4 stars - Service all around from front desk, to help on the phone, to the bar was really solid. 3 stars - Lobby and bar...they are beautiful and cozy, but a lobby bar that closed in the 9 o'clock hour is rough. Let me start by saying this is a very nice hotel. Very clean, friendly, and beautiful. My only complaint is the Wifi. I work in IT. It's important that I have an internet connection that can handle video conferencing. The internet here is the worst internet I've come across, and I've been traveling a lot. I tried to conduct a zoom meeting, and failed. Nobody could understand me, and vise versa. Simple tasks like browsing and email are terribly slow. In the time it took me to write this, I've been trying to open LinkedIn, and it's still loading the page. I feel like someone is going to ask me to get off the internet so they can use the phone. (Showing my age here) Bottom line, if you stay here and need internet, have an unlimited data plan on your phone and tether. read more

When we booked this hotel it was the Sofitel. A couple days before we stayed there, we received an email from the website we booked this 4-star from (at an extreme discount), telling us of the change in ownership/name. Honestly, we don't care what "S" name it is, especially for the price we had pre-paid. Check-in was nice and friendly. The room was clean and just fine. Usual Sheraton Shine products. Just not sure why it would be considered a 4-star though, other than the 4-star prices in the bar (really high! and not even a friendly Bartender), and the 4-star restaurant in the lobby. There's a nice gift shop as well, and a coffee spot with some bakery items if you want something other than the expensive restaurant. Call it a 3 1/2 star (a very old one), with a less than desirable location (the only thing near it is a Doubletree), and imho that would be more accurate. However, it's not too far from the airport or the infamous Mall of America. read more

I stay here fairly frequently because it's close to the airport and also close to the Best Buy headquarters. That's about the only redeeming qualities for this hotel - I find it a bit expensive if you're paying out-of-pocket and you can't expense it. There's not much in the area, other than Mall of America. But if you're coming here on vacation just to go to Mall of America, I suggest you stay downtown because there's better dining and things to do. I know the idea of the biggest mall is oh-so-appealing, but internet shopping does exist and is much more efficient ;) I've stayed here several times over the last year, and they are currently going through a remodel (May 2015). They are going for a more modern, contemporary look, and they have added a Starbucks in the lobby. Parking is free, easy, and a close walk to the hotel. The rooms themselves are fine - nothing too special, but they look nicer than the older, more antiquated-looking rooms. I got an updated (and I believe, upgraded) room and it was nice but looked super white, stark, and a little bit sterile. I believe they are going for a minimalist, modern look, but it lacks some personality, color, and maybe some artwork. The TV was really nice, large, and sharp, and the alarm clock with iPod dock was finally upgraded to one with a lightening connector. The rooms vary anywhere from $150-$250; for my stay on a Wednesday night, I paid $257, which included taxes -- which is certainly not cheap, and not something I would pay for out-of-pocket. Of course, this is booking about 2 weeks in advance. I did stay downtown at Le Meridien for $140 the next night, which blew this hotel out of the water. I'll be here again, only for the convenience factor when I travel for work, and not necessarily because it's super nice. It's a typical Sheraton that you'll find wherever you go. read more

Very beautiful spot. Rooms are spacious with nice working and lounge areas. Lighting was very good with additional lighting built into the head board. Good size TV and instant hot water!!! The internet was free and fast. I ordered room service... a Cesar salad with steak. It was cooked like I had requested ...very tasty and delivery was within 20 minutes. There was multiple functions taking place but I was able to get in and out with no issues. I was also able to use their business printer in lobby with no issues as well. They have a nice size bar and restaurant...all in all very pleased. read more

Maybe all hotels they are. Dog: Brought my small dog. She liked it and the staff loved her! They left us with bowls and a bed in the room. Also a plastic dog bag carrier for poop walks. Upon check in, we got a treat too...... Non dog: clean and quiet. Housekeeping was professional- I don't use housekeeping but they'd greet me in the hallways and we're not loud! We had a nice stay here for the Prince Celebration event in April. The hotel staff were the highlight - friendly, helpful, and welcoming, they really guided us through the shuttle buses, bar options, and rooms. The rooms were pretty good - we got a spacious room on the first floor overlooking the parking lot. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were clean. My only criticism is the level of noise - we could hear the highway nearby (you might consider a room overlooking the lobby instead), and the walls are thin (we could hear our neighbor's alarm going off repeatedly). The hotel facilities were fine. The wifi is fast, and we could stream video without difficulty. They have a Starbucks in the lobby, and the hotel restaurant is excellent. The lobby area is very comfortable and trendy. I wasn't a fan of the gym - plenty of cardio equipment, but not much in strength training except some free weights and a nautilus machine. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel! read more

Impressive room size Holy moly! We book a king size room and it lived up to it's name! The bed was extremely comfortable, which can unusual in hotel. The bathroom is good sized and it only has a shower which was fine with us. Our son would have loved a bath but we booked on points so beggars can't be choosers. If you're plus sized there isn't much room between the toilet and the paper dispenser. I may want to lose a few pounds before coming back. There is no pool which was disappointing, especially with a child in tow. Also a little disappointing the TV did not have an HDMI jack so we would be able to entertain our son with our Roku. At least we had a TV and free WiFi. Netflix on our phones worked fine. Overall nice hotel, centrally located in the Twin Cities. The hotel is currently having some remodeling done so there is a lot of drywall in the lobby. Close to MOA and other shopping. Seriously lacking outlets is my major complaint. I can't charge my phone by the bed and my husband was having a hard time finding a place to plug in his CPAP machine for the night. read more

I can't say enough about the service within this hotel, particularly when it comes to one of their employees, Matt, who I met at check-in. I've had a lot of changes that have taken place in my job over the last month that have required me to have to travel every other week (and sometimes on weekends). Needless to say, it's been a bummer. HOWEVER. Today, after waking up at 4am, traveling to Minneapolis, and working all day, I got to my hotel at the Sheraton and the kindest (and wittiest!) man named Matt checked me in at the lobby. We chatted for a few minutes and I very briefly noted I had a stressful day and that I was going to head down to the bar within the hour to grab a cocktail. Ladies and gentlemen, it was as if he knew when I was coming down because this wonderful human basically ran over to me as soon as he saw me walk towards the restaurant so he could give me a drink ticket, on him because he "knew I had had a long day". There was no reason he had to do that, yet he did. I work in customer service, and let me tell you, it's this attention to detail that keeps people coming back to your business, and I will absolutely be coming back because of how welcomed and taken care of Matt made me feel. I hope he is acknowledged for the outstanding service he gave to me today, and for the outstanding service I'm sure he gives every person who walks through the doors at the Sheraton. read more

Arrived on-site with a pre-existing reservation. First signs were a number of trashed cars parked in the parking lot and crushed lighters spewd about. Then a seemingly drunk woman was outside the front door smoking. As I went to my room, several young men of various ethnic backgrounds walking around the halls, some carrying their cigs, some knocking on doors to their friends' room, others randomly walking about. Police were inside and outside the territory. I am told some hotels in the area decided to house the homeless during subzero temperatures. Nice gesture for them, but very careless not to le your other customers know. Will never choose this hotel again. read more

I was here for a nine day stretch recently. I wasn't looking forward to this longish business trip to the frozen tundra that started on black Friday but when the boss says go...you go. The hotel did their very best to make sure my stay was a comfortable one. Their attention to the guests comfort and happiness is amazing. Here are some great examples of that: When I checked in they noted that they gave me an outward facing room. They wanted to make sure I had some natural light during my long stay. I was given free WiFi aceess because of my extended stay. At the bar one night, they ran out of the wine I had been enjoying. The poured me the next tier of cab and charged the lower price. My last morning I had breakfast in the restaurant. When my order was brought to the table, the server told me she had given me an apricot croissant because a regular croissant would have taken an additional 20 minutes and she didn't want me to have to wait. She checked back several times to make sure I was ok with the substitution. It isn't often you come across an entire staff that is ready to go above and beyond to ensure your comfort. I enjoyed the several meals I had at the restaurant. The severs and bartenders were always friendly and attentive. Most mornings I grabbed breakfast to go from the bakery / cafe. My only complaint there is that they only had baked goods. Some quick breakfast sandwiches would have been fantastic. You can tire of croissants quickly when it's your only choice. The room was clean and very comfortable. It was also surprisingly spacious. The upgraded amenities were a huge plus. Fun thing, there is a speaker in the bathroom that plays whatever your have on the tv. Nice to be able to listen to the news while getting ready for the day. I will definitely request to be booked at this hotel for all future business trips in the Minneapolis area. I can't imagine a better stay anywhere else. read more

I got this place on Priceline and was happy with the overall experience. Although the hotel itself is older, the rooms have been updated with nice comfy beds, great bathroom and shower and roomy. Don't let the somewhat dated exterior scare you, this hotel recently went through some very extensive renovations and has all the modern amenities any business traveler could want. The fitness room had complementary bottled water and ear buds. Rooms are quiet and the beds are comfortable. Luxurious walk-in shower and plenty of counter space. Way to loud! Got no sleep!!The room was freezing, furnace just put out cold air. Was hoping to get some sleep before an early flight. Complained to the front desk in person, and it did no good. I booked the room through Priceline and called and complained to them as well. They called the hotel and got the same run around. I was told to call back at 2:30 the next afternoon, we will see if anything happens. I paid good money so my wife, kids and I could get a good night sleep before catching an early flight out. Thank God my kids can sleep. I've had way better experiences at $40/night rooms!! read more
