The owner of the store was very kind. She made trips to Dallas to stock up and she'd ask me what I wanted and she brought it back. She even cooked me Korean soup one time. Its been a very long time but I still remember. God bless you k.

This definitely isn't the most orderly grocery store out there (random food packages consumed by the owner left on tables, some frozen goods packed into Ziploc bags, items in random locations), but it is way better than not having an oriental grocery store in NM. Apparently they used to be located on Thornton, but moved to Main Street away from the busy center road that takes you down Clovis. Don't be alarmed if it feels like you're going the wrong way. K's Oriental is nestled among the various houses, located right next to another oriental store. Odd, but we decided to go to K's since the Yelp reviews sounded promising. Before we had taken the trip to Clovis, we saw that some reviewers mentioned the owner making orders of bulgogi and kimchi. Since there isn't any good AYCE KBBQ nearby, we decided to take a chance and order 24 oz of bulgogi for around $15 or so. Reviewers mentioned that it was good, so we took a chance. Upon walking in, somebody was actually buying some other order of meat that the owner had prepared, which looked like a good sign. The store seems like it's both the owner's house and a small grocery store mixed into one. There are a ton of good items that would have definitely kept me satisfied if I needed to stay in Portales for awhile. From ramen, to Asian sauces, to Asian vegetables (I definitely would have liked this since all I ate was basically broccoli) to frozen goods - you can pretty much find anything and everything here. If you can't find it, ask the owner and she will try to order it for you if she is able to. She has Chinese items, Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Thai, etc. So the bulgogi ... we had thought the bulgogi was freshly prepared, but it seemed like it had been frozen for awhile. Not something that was newly made. For $15ish, that's a pretty steep price for just a tub of bulgogi. But maybe it would taste amazing with the tub of kimchi we had bought (I think the kimchi is divided into tubs from a large tub of kimchi that wasn't personally made by the owner). We warmed up half of the bulgogi, prepared it with rice, took a bite ... and we were very very disappointed by how salty and un-bulgogi like the meat tasted. So salty there was NO sweetness of that bulgogi marinade at all. It took several mouthfuls of rice to counter the saltiness. Not sure what the other reviewers were talking about, but this was definitely no good. Kimchi was also way too salty ... and only got saltier as it sat in the fridge. tl; dr - I wouldn't buy any of the foods prepared and packaged in tubs. Everything else should be okay. Credit cards are accepted, but cash is preferred. I would definitely visit again, but would not order the bulgogi ... or kimchi.

MAKE IT A PRIORITY TO STOP HERE!…read more We walked in to get a little coffee and after being greeted by the gentlemen at the front and seeing the young lady in the back preparing some new bakery items I knew this was the place. We ordered some pastries and coffee. We loved them so much we got some more to go so we can enjoy later in the day in our hotel. Absolutely among best home made fresh bakery items I have had. Stop by and support!

The building is bright and fun colored, and really has a 50s touch to it. The cafes interior was so warm and welcoming. Cushioned chairs, newspapers, lots of plants, Route 66 books laid out to read ... it is absolutely a peaceful place to spend your morning. Butter yellows, rich greens, and brick walls! Just so homey. I ordered an iced hazelnut latte, coffee cake and peach and ginger yogurt parfait! AMAZING! The coffee was a great mix of strong coffee flavored and sweet hazelnut. Coffee cake was yummy with small walnuts throughout, moist cinnamon parts and a crisp top! My yogurt parfait was my favorite, the peach and ginger addition being a compote. So unique and delicious, I'm so glad I tried it. Drew got two quiches and a strawberry lemonade! He loved both. The staff was extremely welcoming, helpful and kind to us while ordering, and offered to box up my coffee cake for the road. Making conversation about where we are from and what brings us here, they really made us feel at home all the way in New Mexico!
