He spent a good deal of time with me going over my concerns. I feel he doesn't suggest treatment unless it's absolutely necessary and, when necessary, he takes the course of treatment that is best for the child and not his own personal ease. The waiting room is fun and inviting for little people-- there is a movie playing as well as video games for kiddos to play with while they wait. They also give out tokens for prizes after the visit. It's all the little things that allow my daughter to feel at ease that mean a lot. We are so happy we found this practice!

They give you an estimated amount to pay and bill the insurance after. They keep the difference and give you the run around if you ask for it back. it happened more than once. The newly expanded office and team are just as great as before. I love entering the whimsical forest and seeing the woodland creatures. We try to go early so that the kids can get game time on the ipads. Their "dentist shirt" is the one item of clothing that they never lose because they get so excited to get a 2nd token for prizes. They've saved every shirt over the years, even if they no longer fit. I love Tatum pediatric and am so happy to have them caring for my kiddos.

I typically get seen within ten minutes of my appointment and the lobby keeps my son entertained. Today there was a bit of av wait but nowadays there's always a waiting time with COVID. So my son is very particular about his teeth being spaced (weird! I know) but the dentist took the time to explain it to him and reassured my 4 year old that he was in track and showed him the X-rays! This dentist is by far amazing, knowledgeable and extremely caring! I will come over and over again! I'm so happy to have found an amazing dentist that gives my son a god experience because I know. I despise going to the dentist. My son lets me floss his teeth and brushes everyday and night. It's insane how much a 4 year old can love his dental hygiene! From the minute we walked in, she was running around repeatedly going down the space-themed slide and exploring all the cool features of the waiting room's indoor playground. We might have had a tiny freak-out when following the dental hygienist back to a room (too much like the scary pediatric RNs who give shots I think) but when we walked into the exam area, she seemed confused - what was this heavenly place? We were assigned a toddler-themed room, which had fun velcro clouds, a tent, a rocking sheep, and all sorts of toys! No scary exam chair in sight. Apparently all the rooms have different themes appropriate for developmental stages! When Dr. Austin came in, he did an excellent job interacting in a non-intimidating way before doing Zoe's first teeth check. He had a great trick with counting to 5 on fingers with the toothbrush to encourage kids to open up for brushing - our toddler still holds her fist out for counting now when we're getting ready to brush! At the end, she loved putting a coin in the machine to get a prize - she can't stop saying "ball" and holding up the little alien toy that came out of the prize ball. There's a reason why everyone with kids recommends this place. Desert Ridge Pediatric Dentistry managed to turn a potentially nerve-wracking experience into one of our toddler's favorite new excursions. Come check it out!

My son originally went here with my husband as this was a referral for my 6 year olds multiple cavities. The dentist offered my husband 2 options for treatment- oral sedation or needle sedation. I want to clarify that I was not present for this consultation. The doctor convinced my husband that the best solution was needle sedation and he made an appointment. We spoke about it and I made it clear that I did not want the needle option for our son, I called the office, left a message for the dentist to call me, no call back, I had to call multiple times to finally speak to someone about my anxiety and needing to update the appointment to oral sedation (drink). The appointment was made. The following day, I get a call saying that they will need to cancel the appointment for the oral drink sedation per the dentist and I would need to make a new appointment for the needle sedation with the original dentist. So you gave my husband two choices originally, convinced him to go with the needle sedation, I felt uncomfortable & I asked for the oral drink for my son, the appointment was made for the oral drink, only to get a call the next day to say sorry, nope, your son needs to get a needle sedation. You left me no choice but to cancel the appointment and on top of that, asked if I want the dentist to call me, no thanks. I will say from what my husband and son told me is that aesthetically this is a great place for kids as my son wanted to go back. I feel like I could have had a way different experience had their been clear communication and expectations not talking to different people or having to chase people down.

Please beware of bringing your children here. This happened last year, but i hadn't left a review…read moreat the time. I had been bringing my kids here for quite some time. The previous dentist, Dr. Dan was always amazing with my kids. Well, it seems he no longer works there so we saw Dr. Tran instead. My kids, who never have had any cavity issues, suddenly had a a few??? Mind you, i brought one of my sons a couple of months before this appt to check on some back tooth discoloration which Dr. Dan confirmed to be just a side effect of an iron vitamin he was taking and assured me he had no cavities. But i trusted her. I brought in my kids for fillings with laughing gas. It did not go well at all. First, we were double booked, so we were kept waiting for quite a while. Then i was given paperwork to sign- i looked through it and saw them pre-charge me a behavioral fee?? My kids have never had any behavior issues at the dentist (up until this appt, anyway) and was totally unreasonable to see that on there. I told the front desk and she took it off. But if i just quickly signed it without reading, like I'm sure many busy mothers do, they would have taken money out of my pocket for a problem that never even happened. Then when it was time for the fillings, the techs and Dr did nothing to inform my kids of what they were doing and why, and honestly were quite rude to them. I was shocked. Isn't this supposed to be a children's practice? Shouldn't that come with care, patience, and some guidance for the small kids who have never had a filling before? It was safe to say at this point that my kids were scared and didn't understand why the laughing gas was making them feel the way they felt. I tried to explain to them and calm them since the staff wasn't doing a single thing about it, but they were placed in separate rooms to have their appt at the same exact time (wasn't supposed to happen this way, but due to the double booking, it did), and going back and forth to be with each one to calm them was impossible. The dentist tried for maybe a minute or two on each one to start the fillings and gave up on both of them and said you need to come again, and if it doesn't go well again next time then you still need to pay for the appts in full. I was shocked at how little care and attention she gave my kids. No kindness, no understanding. I don't think she ever even spoke to them directly. Just rude and seemed like a money grab. We made new appts and then left. But then my intuition was screaming that something is off. I took my kids to a different pediatric dentist and guess what? Only one small cavity for my oldest son. No cavities for my younger one. We went from 5 cavities at the other practice, to one small one. Dr. Tran was dishonest with us and it was so disappointing. They were going to put my kids through totally unnecessary dental work. I could not believe someone would do that to small children. We had the cavity filled at the new practice by the way, and not a single tear or complaint from my son because the staff there were patient, understanding, and actually spoke to him about what they were doing. I will be going there from now on and will never be returning to Pleasant Pediatric Dentistry.

The dentist was incredibly kind, had wonderful bedside manner, and made sure we fully understood the injury and how to care for Zachary at home. They were also happy to follow up with us afterward.
