Second time in recent months I've been served unacceptable food at this pub. The Lobster Mac & Cheese was microwaved instead of using a broiler oven so it was like paste. The Bangers were deep fried and are normally pan fried or broiled so they were tough and over cooked. The Caesar Salad was absolutely drenched in dressing to the point of being inedible. According to the waitress the cook of 14 years left earlier this year so it's quite apparent they've had a problem hiring qualified kitchen staff or it's inadequate training. The manager was abrasive and sarcastic. He needs to learn to never let a customer leave unhappy. The service staff is always friendly and helpful also the ambience is typical for a neighborhood pub. I will not return or recommend to anyone. read more

This was a great place to go to with friends to hang out, especially for a small birthday party. We got a little booth in the corner at the end of the restaurant and had lots of space for more people to sit down (which some arrived that we were unsure about if they could make it or not). The server was... Odd. She took our orders fine but felt like she was giving us attitude or just didn't care for her job? I'm not sure. When she brought our drinks she accidentally(?) Slammed one of the glasses on the table (empty) and we just all looked up at her like what? And she was going on about something else and didn't really apologize... Anyways, the food was good, the mashed potatoes are really bland without the gravy. Everything else was delicious. There was also a live performance, but it only lasted like half an hour and then went back to being normal music... Would come back if we're craving pub food again. read more

Nice cozy atmosphere. The server was very welcoming and polite. Good food. My friend ordered crab cakes, it comes with salad , I ordered Irish nachos, it was good, it was not the typical tostitos , it had thick chips, which was tasty. They have a variety of Beers, both bottled and draught. We also ordered liver and onions , came with mashed potatoes and gravy. It was good. We went on a Friday night and they have live music after 8 pm. We enjoyed the evening, Oh ya , there is parking at the back too. read more

Food is really decent if not basic. Highly recommend the chicken schnitzel sandwich. The curry was good although the naan with it is not. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! This restaurant is run by troubled, rude individuals who serve an option of stone cold/ dry and burnt food. I used to eat here for years, it was lovely but the last few times i watched a loud mouth manager(?) berate and yell at his staff and customers!!! Customers sending back food that was cold in the middle because the cook(him?) had microwaved the food- yuk! And it finally happened to me when I was with a few friends - the beans and sausage were cold, I sent it back then the waitress came back and told me to pay my bill ( in full) and get out ... he was sick of my kind !!!! I tipped the waitress $20 because I had known her for years and she was so sorry ( and apparently frightened of her brutish manager). She says he does this all the time now- if anyone sends back food he kicks the customer out!!! With the food quality being HORRIBLE - cooking replaced by microwaving and harassed staff- THIS IS A PLACE TO AVOID!!! read more

January 14th 2018 Such a nice atmosphere this pub provides. I parked right infront of the building, but there's more parking in the back, as the street is the main Street so parking can be limited. My partner ordered: wings, and I ordered the fish and chips. Order came in promptly, but the fish had a weird after taste...in comparison to other fish and chips I've had. The fries were crunchy, and finished it no problem. Afterwards, we had the chocolate lava cake topped with whipped cream. The server didn't come as often as we hoped...and the reason why is because the servers are not only servers, they are bartenders, greeters & busboys. So I could understand why we had a "delayed" time with her. Overall, pretty good experience. The place is calm, there's no rowdy customers. From the outside it looks like a real pub. And when you enter, then you're in ! The ambiance is totally there and the decoration is very Irish. The team working there is friendly and fast. I took the plougham plate and had the good surprise of having a nice variety of cheeses, salami, meat, pickles and bread. That was delicious. The cheese comes from the cheese store on the other side of the street. Don't take the glass of white wine. Go for there speciality: beers ! read more

Walked in to a lovely looking pub. Ordered our drinks and food, place was nice and quiet, then a group of 15 rowdy twenty somethings came in, already plastered yelling and swearing and talking about sex acts. The owner was there, the did not say anything to this group about quieting down or their language. They just left. The food took an hour to get. I ordered the chicken curry, the chicken was not a good selection of meat. The potatoes that came in the chicken curry were raw. I complained about the potatoes and they just said that's how they make them (the fork had a hard time piercing them- sorry not cooked). The wait staff completely ignored us and other tables. I saw another table that had to go and get their own menus. Our server only came up to us once to take our order, different waitress brought the food, and took it away. My beer glass sat empty my entire meal. Very poor service. First and last time ever going there. read more

Poor service leaves a bitter taste ... What was supposed to be an enjoyable evening out to celebrate a special friend's birthday, turns into a disappointing experience thanks to the poor table service and the waitress's bitter attitude. We understand Friday's can be a busy night but there is no excuse for the attitude and rudeness the waitress displayed from the minute we arrived. This waitress would benefit from some basic customer service and diversity training; it's not acceptable to argue with a customer simply trying to get some table service. Unfortunately it's the restaurant and the rest of the team that loses when this type of behavior is tolerated. This waitress will be glad to hear that we (and our wallets) won't be back. read more

Had a horrible experience at pub. My family waited 20 min to order drinks and a further 15 min passed and we had not yet had our food orders taken (after the waitress said she would be back in 2 min to take our order). I approached the waitress at the bar and asked her to come take our order and after 10 minutes of further waiting we just gave up and I went to the bar to pay for my drinks to leave at which time what appeared to be a manager came up and called me an a**hole. The waitress was respectful and was explaining how thinks got busy all of the sudden which was a reasonable explanation for me...we just wanted to eat so we were intent on leaving. What the manager was thinking I don't know but it sure was a bazzar treatment of a customer. read more

I have eaten here several times over the past year. It is definitely an 'old school' pub. They have a great selection of draft beers which are unique and well priced. The curry dish is good. A little too many carbs with potatoes and rice but the flavours are great. The fish and chips are consistently well cooked - crispy and not too greasy. Coleslaw is boring and needs to be revised. Salad are excellent. Onion rings are handmade and very good. They have interesting specials in addition to the normal menu. Portions are great. I will definitely be returning. read more

I returned cold pork sausages only to hear my entire plate being "nuked" , they were still cold and when I called the waitress over to discuss she told me to pay and get out, by order of the owner. Hugely embarrassed as I had brought my family to this restaurant ( I had been coming for years) I tried to explain my cold sausages , my families meals were also cold ,but a loud very rude man , proclaiming to be the owner told us to get out and never come back...he went as far as to say we were BARRED ! The worst dinning experience of my life, but I have heard...as I repeat my experience around town , that I am not the only one to receive this disgusting treatment at the Shepard's Crook . The food was good, the service was terrible! We arrived and had to find someone to attend to us! We ordered our meals, good food by the way! It was served but after it was served we had to find someone to help us add to our meal experience...I.e. ketchup, vinegar, water etc. sad! No one came by to ask how our meal was...what? Isn't that meal 101 ? Sadly we had to flag down a new server who came on staff to get our bill...it took too long to get a copy of the bill then once that was dropped off by another new server..to have to wait for the credit card machine which took another 5 minutes...arrgggg....really they we're not busy I do not understand this terrible service! Love this location, the food is great! Attention management!! Train your staff better or you will lose business! Hopefully next visit you will have your stuff together! read more

This is a very cozy pub with a great beer selection. Unfortunately the food is terrible. Unless you are ordering something prepared in the deep fryer, the food is substandard quality and poorly prepared. Also, the staff is nice enough, but not really friendly. It feels like they are there to punch the clock and put their time in - they do not go the extra few steps to create a welcoming, fun and social pub experience. read more
