It was my first time going seeing some friends in the city and it did not disappoint at all. The food was so hot and fresh! The owners were so nice and the customer service was so great as well! The pancakes were also cooked to perfection. I had the banana walnut pancakes with 2 sides of over easy eggs. Exactly how I wanted it and not a thing left to be seen on the plate! This is such an awesome establishment! I was craving pancakes badly, and we drove about 35 minutes to come here and it was totally worth it! Easy parking, our server was great. TLDR; the best breakfast in Tampa. The menu is simple and not overcomplicated. The decor is welcoming and seats comfortable. It's a small shop and had a nice buzz (and no wait- but I don't expect that to last) on a Saturday morning at 9:30 AM. The service was friendly. Coffee was solid and poured quickly (and I'm a bit of a coffee snob). The food took about 30 minutes, but hey, we weren't in a rush. The veggie omelette was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. I could not even believe how amazing the fruit was! The extra $1.25 was completely worth it (and if you're wondering, the little cup of brown sauce was CARAMEL...CARAMEL FOR CRYING OUT LOUD). Don't leave without ordering a side of beignets to go. They're better than Du Monde's- trust me. Simply put, this breakfast was wonderful, and we will be back. Oh, and if you're currently weighing your options for breakfast tomorrow, COME TO SHELLY'S. Best to get here early on Saturday/Sunday mornings because this little place gets busy QUICK. My boyfriend and I came in at 10 am and we had a small wait due to a large party that had walked in before us. Our service was very nice and attentive while we browsed over the menu. We ended up ordering the meat lover's omelette and banana caramel french toast. The omelette may look normal on the outside but it's was delightfully fluffy and full of flavor along with crispy, thinly slice potatoes that were lightly seasoned with herbs and salt. As for my banana caramel french toast, it was TO DIE FOR AMAZING. There was the perfect amount of tasted walnuts and basically 2 full sized bananas on top of two clouds of cinnamon filled french toast all drizzled in a sweet caramel sauce that needs NO SYRUP (but the choice is up to you) the combo comes with 2 eggs and a protein but the real star is that french toast that I still dream about. This is my favorite breakfast place around USF area for the reasonable price and great quality food. 10/10 would recommend to everyone. read more

Found this little gem for bfast near my house. We arrived around 1045am on a Saturday and a line was just starting to form. Only waited about 5min before getting a table. Staff was very friendly! They have pancakes, French toast, omelettes, egg combos, sandwiches and even more on the lunch side menu wise. Something for everyone! I got an iced coffee and build-your-own omelette. Food did take quite a while to arrive but it was delicious! You can tell the home fries are homemade and not frozen. They bring out all the condiments you need from hot sauce, ketchup and syrup. Shelley's is one of our favorite breakfast/brunch spots in Tampa. Nowadays when we come it is always packed but the service never suffers. I typically get an Arnold Palmer when I go to a restaurant and theirs FLAMES. My girlfriend typically gets the chicken sandwich (a chicken tender sandwich with special sauce and tomato and lettuce) and it rivals any chicken sandwich you might be foolish enough to pit against it. I get the pancakes combo with scrambled eggs and bacon. They also have delicious beignets but we didn't get those this time. Never EVER have been disappointed with Shelley's. Wow. Wandered in after the Lutz Independence Day 5k race. Looking for anything decent and open at 9:45 am on July 4th. We lucked out. Greeted courteously and seated promptly. Our server politely took our beverage order while we perused the menu. Nothing extra ordinary there....your typical breakfast and lunch fare....so we ordered with guarded optimism. Took the opportunity to wash my hands. Restroom clean as a whistle. Good sign. I returned to the table and probably the best omelette and home fries I've experienced. Ever. But I'm only 54. The fries weren't over cooked, just greasy enough (nay to dry home fries), and the right thickness to actually taste the potato. The omelette was cooked perfectly....done but not dry, with plenty of shrimp, spinach, and a three cheese blend. Light and fluffy. Two slices of rye toast dripping with butter, and I couldn't have been happier. Our server was back an appropriate number of times to refill coffee and gauge satisfaction. Reasonably priced.
