The help arrived 40 minutes late and we towed the car for repairs.The manager - Sam - was very professional, taking time to explain what happens with the car and how long of a wait is.I appreciated and felt the car was in good hands.I am a professional driver and I seek well defined characteristics in a mechanic. Before this repair I had my Nissan Altima 2005 checked up for an engine light ON at the following places plus other two I will not mention because were recommended by well intended friends, whom know less than me about cars..Places like :Meineke on Ogden,Lumpp & Sons, Shell Gas Station at 63-rd and Maine,Shop at Ogden and Fairview corner,another shop on Ogden across from the Auto Zone,etc...all these mechanics did not recognise that my car had a starter problem !!!! I had a good experience. I called AAA and they sent a tow right away! The driver was real nice and jump started my car and when I got in my engine light was on. So we towed it to Shell. The mechanic was real nice, found the problem, and explained everything patiently. He called me within the time frame he said it would take...same day. When done with an errand suddenly my SUV wouldn't start. I called AAA and they sent a tow truck from Westmont Shell. First time estimate on the AAA app was about 50 minutes out, then revised to about 30, and the driver arrived within about 20, so it was actually pretty quick. Abraham jumped it and it started, but due to the warning indicator I had gotten I still had him tow it to the dealer. He was pleasant and helpful the whole time and got the job done well. My Son had his car towed here through AAA after a breakdown on the way to work. Our regular mechanic is much further away and didn't have the $50 on him to get it there so he let it be towed here (within the free 5 mile radius) He needed a motor mount and a CV joint because the engine fell on top of it when the motor mount broke. With labor it was $350 which I didn't think was too terribly out of line but a little on the pricey side. On the way home he noticed a clicking sound in the front end. Knowing a little about cars we decided to jack the car up and inspect the service they did. The left a huge gouge in a 2 month old brake rotor. When my son called back they wanted him to prove it was new (I can kinda see that) and if it was under warranty, to get another and they would swap it. Why do all that running around and bring it back there for possibly any more damage. My son just swapped it himself, fortunately they honored the warranty with the physical damage they had left. Unfortunately we thought we had found a closer alternative to our current mechanic but not going back after this and we are going to let AAA know about the shotty repair job. read more

State Farm arranged tow service with Westmont Shell. It was a cold and rainy evening, and I'd mentally prepared for a long wait... But, they responded to State Farm's request in about a minute, and the truck arrived VERY QUICKLY. The driver, Mike, was pleasant and professional. Towed my car to their station (for repair the following AM), and even gave me a ride home. So helpful! UPDATE: Picked up my car today -- very pleased with the repairs. I'm on a tight budget, and I feel they did their best to accommodate my situation. I'll be going back to them when I can afford a bit more for my 20-yr old car. read more

Our car died this morning while we were running errands. Our road service connected us with Westmont Shell. The tow truck driver was prompt and super nice. He immediately could tell that our car needed a new alternator. We liked him so much that we decided to try the service department at Westmont Shell for our repair, too, and we are so happy that we did. The guys at the station could not have been nicer. And the total time for our entire repair once we arrived at the station was about 45 minutes .... on a freezing cold Saturday afternoon with no appointment. The cost was extremely reasonable, as well. From start to finish, our breakdown lasted about two hours and was basically stress-free. Overall, a fantastic experience!! read more

Summary of what happened--- -On 11/13/16, Sunday, my car broke down on 63rd and Suffield. 0.2 miles away from the site. Towing was wait was reasonable, but not prompt considering they were so close -Called AAA, they said they have an approved shop and they could give a discount. I wanted to go somewhere else, but decided okay to use them because of this -Miscommunication because I was told they are open Sundays, so maybe they can start today. Get there and towing/gas station is open Sunday, not shop -Called Monday for pricing, he said he would look into it and call me back. I called back and he said still working on it, it is complicated. He did not call back. -I called Friday and he boldly and shamelessly said that he's not working on it! -He did not understand nor comprehend why he has to notify me and why it's wrong to have the car for 5 days and not do anything -I decided to use a different tow service to send to another mechanic. Great decision -New truck driver tells me that the drivers door handle is missing and battery is dead. -I called the station and he says "The car was like that when it got here." -AAA reimbursed me for a new handle after I had to get quotes. -Surprised as they worked on my other car and seemed to care. Will warn others to stay away from here -Place is a graveyard for 200K mile cars, I counted 15 sitting at this gas station read more

Please check your card after using it this place because they charge your card hundreds more than actual amount. If your card did not go through and saying see the cashier you have to make sure it did not charge. They charged my card $ 125 even I used another card to get gas they charged my other card too. They do scam. I heard it before but did not believe it but it happened to me!!!!!!!!!!! read more

You have to be aweful for me to take time out of my busy day to write a negative review. The person who is in charge of dispatching tow trucks at this site is flat out ignorant and needs to take a course on how to politely communicate to your customers. Not only did he lie about the whereabouts of his tow truck in relation to my vehicle but proceeded to accuse us for being untimely and irresponsible for not being near the vehicle that needs towing. Mind you my wife was literally in the car. It turns out the dispatcher and driver were not in sync and instead of rectifying their own issue the dispatcher verbally attacked us over the phone. My car died on the side of the road on 88. I call AAA and they send these guys out to tow me. I'm brought to the service station at this shell. Immediately I'm a little apprehensive because its tiny and I have a regular mechanic that I trust and use. I find out its payalternator and its going to cost $300. Great. I call the my normal mechanic and its much cheaper there, but I have to pay to get it towed to Chicago. So I decide to just pay it and hope it works out. I have to get on with my day. They fixed it fast and even give a 1 year warranty on work. Overall the price is very high, but if your in a tight spot they will do the work well. read more

A bad experience with them. Not honest, don't know about cars, have my car battery replaced there and the battery is dead within a week. When I called , first they said nobody is there on Sunday, come back on Monday, then I insisted to have the battery today because battery has a warranty. Finally they said ok bring the old battery. I cannot find the receipt,I don't think they gave me anything other than the credit card receipt. So I pulled up the credit card report showing the charge on Monday, the guy refused to replace the battery saying the charges could be from other shell, HOWEVER, I checked afterwards, there is only one westmont shell!! read more

Westmont Shell Service Station is a 24 hour complete auto repair and service station that provides great, honest and fair auto repair services. Recently I was stopped on Rt 83 with what I thought was transmission failure. I called AAA for a tow and discussed repair facilities in the area with the tow driver. I decided to try the closest station and found Sam (owner) to be very knowledgable about auto repair and my immediate repair needs. After putting the car on the rack he found that it wasn't the transmission but the drive axle that required replacement. He said that he could complete repair and get it back to me the next day. He was got the repairs done and called me the next day to pick up my vehicle! Great service, great price for the service and honest people. I will use them again when in the area. Roadside/tow assistance at Westmont Shell 630-852-6100. They were contacted through my insurance to tow my car (July 2013). ETA: 01:37PM; they showed up at almost 4pm. Too late for my mechanic to start fixing my car that day. Called them three times and was told they had a delay but were on their way -- Delays happens; that's ok but don't lie and at least respect your customer and call back to explain the situation; it was bad enough to have a mechanical problem, rent a car, and on top of that take time off from work. Told my insurance about their poor service. read more

The auto repair shop was recommended to us by the guys at Auto Zone to replace a front headlight. It was more complicated than just screwing the bulb in, and the bumper had to be removed. We went to another local place and they quoted us $125 for parts and labor and felt like that was a little much for a headlight. When we pulled up to Shell, the guy came out right away to examine the job, said he could do it within the hour for $60, despite the fact that there were lots of other cars there. He was efficient, squeezed us in and was at a much better price point. We will be returning to Shell for future repairs. read more
