My experience at this Shell station can only be described as a comical horror movie. I stopped to get gas at this station like I have in the past. On my way on a date I decided to get a car wash because my car was in desperate need of being cleaned. So I paid for the wash at the pump because when I went in to purchase a bottle of water the gas station attendant was too busy watching a very loud TV show in a language I could not decipher - I thought it best to just look at my options at the pump. I went back out and like I said paid for the wash at the pump and pulled around the back of the station. Wow! This dilapidated car wash was nothing but scary. It looked like how horror stories start. It looked like something out of "the Hills Have Eyes." I pulled forward against my better judgement (I was in a hurry). The control box looked like something a carnival ride operator dressed as a clown would use. The attendant booth was ominous - I was waiting for the door to open and someone stop out with a large blade such as an axe in hand. With very poor directions and hitting buttons like a monkey in a room full of toys I made something happen. Water started spraying and things started moving. It was like the boat ride in "Willy Wonka" only this was scarier. I pulled forward on the track, I pulled even more forward on the track. Waiting, anticipating the car wash to catch my tire (like every other car wash I have ever been in) and nothing happened. Pulling closer and closer, the hood of my car coming in to contact with this thick plastic sheeting, that looks like you would find in a slaughter house. I continued, again against my better judgement, pushing past the plastic expecting my wheel to be grabbed by a pulley and pull me though this pathetic car wash. No. I was past the point of no return. I wanted to back up. I did not think I could. I went forward into the spinning brushes. I wondered how fast should I go? Should I continue? Should I honk my horn? Will the guy inside hear it over his loud music / television show? I inched forward. Looking around wondering if this is a prank or if I am getting punked somehow I inch forward even more trying to calculate my speed and trying to recall "real" car washes and mimic that speed. Still scared, not sure if I am doing the right thing, doing something wrong, or risking damage to my vehicle or even myself I had no recourse other then to keep going. I made it past the little portion of this car wash that washes your car to the rinsing portion. I must admit, I have seen animals (granted bigger than me) with better pressure when voiding their bladder then this in the rinsing and washing areas. Next, and finally last, the portion of this so-called car wash was the dryer area. Their industrial blowers did nothing but that, blow. I inched so carefully though this area allowing these blowers as much time as possible to dry off my car with no avail. I think marry-go-rounds have produced more wind then these electric beasts. I pulled out! Phew! But my nightmare was not over. I was dripping wet from this want to be car wash. My car looked like it was just pulled out of a body of water. Water everywhere. I debated on going in but again I did not want to interrupt the music / television show that was playing loudly inside. Running short(er) on time I decided to get on the main road and hit the gas and let the wind dry me off. I wish I complained sooner. I got on the road and hit the gas. Nothing. I noticed the water would not run off my car or windshield, instead it would just keep pooling. I noticed the water had a milky / cloudy appearance to it. You can see for yourself, see the picture I included. Nonetheless, my car came out dirtier then it was when it went in. This is the opposite of a car wash. I contacted Shell via their corporate website a couple days later. Their response is "it is not a corporate Shell, we will forward your complaint to the owner and they will contact you." This alleged car wash happened 17 May 2017. I contacted Shell 19 May 2017, they replied the same day. I have yet to be contacted by this Shell owner. I will never use this ($6) car wash again. Driving down the street I noticed a hand dry car wash that cost $10, only having a $5 left for a tip I ended up having to get a $15 car wash after my $6 car wash. Here is my tip NEVER VISIT THIS SHELL, IF YOU HAVE TO GAS ONLY! read more
