    Kensington-Cedar Cottage

I go to this 7-Eleven every once in a while as it is near my boyfriend's house. A couple of days…read moreago, I stopped off on my way over to his place to grab a couple of things, including a small container of ice cream. When I went to open the freezer door, an extremely loud and shrill alarm went off. Scared and confused, I quickly closed the door and asked an employee what the hell was going on. He gave me a disengaged response of, "Oh, the alarm goes off when people open the freezer door." I questioned him further, and the reasoning for the alarm is to prevent theft. Fuck you. First, I am not a criminal, so fuck you for treating me like one. The only thing I am guilty of is eating crap like ice cream and gaining weight. Second, the alarm is very loud and painful, and is extremely startling. If theft of ice cream is such a problem, then lock the freezer and have people request it, or have the ice cream behind the counter, like cigarettes. Or at the very least have a SIGN saying there will be an alarm, or have a "beep beep" sound to alert the cashier, not a fucking loud, shrill, continuous alarm, scaring innocent customers. For this reason, this 7-Eleven gets one star. Also, they never have ginger ale in the fridge, so you can only get warm ginger ale. And their hash browns are hard as rocks and their breakfast sandwiches taste like crap.

This is the godamn worst-run 7-11 I have ever seen in my life. Every dollar they have got from me…read morehas been based on being the only thing open or available at the moment. I live in the neighborhood, and every visit to this store has been a downright ordeal. The lineups are excessive, with employees going through upsell/rewards card pitches with a 10 person deep line, or doing paperwork and ignoring the customers for up to 5 minutes at a time. The ice cream cooler sets off a full on, screeching intrusion alarm, like someone was breaking into the store after hours, the clerks explained it as "people steal", wouldn't a simple "beep beep" get someone's attention enough to look over and keep an eye on the precious $5 pints of ben and jerry's? They sell stale, burnt food. I cut my mouth on a hash brown I bought there once on my way to work. I don't blame the employees, from everything I've seen, whoever is managing this store is a godamn monster. Forcing them to do corporate upsell speils during rushes, the paperwork obsession, refusing to throw away ruined food, the ice cream alarm? That doesn't seem like the actions on the floor. Whoever is in charge of this place appears to be hostile to both employees and customers. Avoid this location.
