Freezing temperature windshield wash cones with a paper funnel! Yes! Also bought gas there no complaints. Windshield wash was 6.50 a gallon and gas way over $5 a gallon but I was grateful for both. read more

They had the nicest gas station bathroom I have ever been in in my life. Two stalls, nicely tiled as if you were in sort of a mid-range hotel or okay restaurant with waterfall faucets. And CLEAN. It was worth the extra $0.05-.09 per gallon just to not feel like I'm catching a disease in the bathroom. read more

Conveniently located right off Highway 80, it's a great place to con desperate drivers who need gas or are entering snowy, mountainous areas that require chain control. I walked 4 blocks on the first day of heavy snow since my car was stuck in ice nearby. We knew we'd be screwed if we didn't find chains ASAP, and I knew if I waited until my car could make it to the gas station, they might sell out of chains. So I ran over, UGG boots soaking wet by the time I got there, got in line, and bought those flimsy, cheap chains for $74. Workers weren't helpful at all when figuring out the exact chains I needed. They rushed through the long line instead, telling people to hurry up the entire time. I like how when I paid, they said ALL CHAIN SALES ARE FINAL and that was stated in bold red on the receipt. Once I got back to my car, we put the chains on and realized the rubber adjuster wasn't the right size. Employees weren't helpful at all and didn't care that the part didn't fit right. Plus, our feet were frozen over and the chains seemed ok without it. We drove about 2 blocks and once we got above 15MPH, the chains flew right off. Both of them. 1 broke a piece of my mud guard that surrounded my tire. We ended up having to get out and put the chains back on repeatedly, sometimes pulling off to the side of the highway, trucks passing and splashing icy cold water on us (yeah like in the movies..it happens and it sucks) until finally, the chains bent/broke and were clearly unusable. We ended up getting a hotel right nearby and paying whatever they asked for, since we couldn't get anywhere else without decent chains. All in all, thanks but no thanks, Shell, for the crazy cheap, overpriced chains and gas. I didn't mind paying $74 for those cheap chains that were about $15 on Amazon. Just give us chains that actually work next time or be kind enough to offer an exchange or refund. read more

Stopped in here on our way home. Had just gotten on the fwy and we were hoping for a station with easy on and off access from 80 west. We just needed water and seeds. The flavored, sunflower kind. J&L food mart at this Shell had what we needed! I tried new seeds ( jumbo hot and spicy) we got our default...ranch!! And bought chili lime for later. Plus a large water. $7.17 total was it for the 3 big seed bags. It seemed like Rachael (the cashier) had forgotten something, but the receipt proved it was all there. Rachael even offered us a cup for the seeds. That was a first! Such a nice thing to think of....but we already had one going in the car from the drive up a couple days ago. Props for her asking tho. It was super easy getting back on the fwy when we left. Convenience! I am impressed all around. read more

I think this is a pretty good Shell station since it's got a very convenient location right off the freeway and near the town. They have a large station so you don't get caught up too much trying to find a free spot to fill gas. The only con is ... as everyone probably knows ... it's very pricey here. I do like that their pumps are pretty fast, some of these stations are very old and you can wait forever just to pump 15 gallons! I think it's nice that there's a car wash attached to it as well for those of you who don't care about scratching your car but want to wash off all the gross salt and dirt from the roadtrip! read more

Convenient - right off the freeway - but expensive. If you are approaching from the west, fill up in Colfax or Auburn or even Roseville, where gas is considerably cheaper. If you are heading back to the California coast, try coasting down the mountain to one of these cities if you can. As an example, last weekend gas at this station was $4.49 for regular unleaded. We made it to Auburn and filled up for $4.19. read more

This review is only on the car wash. I have used it for years and they have changed machines in the last couple. I went to do the standard car wash, now $7, and quite frankly it hardly cleaned my car at all. Was equal to spaying it with my garden hose. I was disappointed so I went inside to discuss with the cashier ( I was told owner wouldn't be back for a week???). The cashier finally gave me a second $7 wash for free, to go through again. So you can see the side of my truck (pictured) after TWO $7 WASHES. Not good at all. In all fairness maybe you have to purchase the more expensive wash. I get that the price of everything continues to rise, however it might be better to remove the low end car wash that really does nothing and offer a product that gets the job done at the price that it warrants. read more

As a young Christina W., family trips usually consisted of annual treks to Lake Tahoe, Mammoth or Las Vegas. If there wasn't a casino, ma wasn't going. So I remember stopping by this gas station bathroom on the way home from a ski trip ... I mean it's so easy to distinguish all the gas station bathrooms along a 500-mile trip as a 10-year-old, right? Damn, my memory is good. Getting back on track here ... my brother needed to use the bathroom. So when he came back from the gas potty with his face disturbed ... I asked him the same question any caring family member would ask, "what the f*ck is wrong with you?" Brother: Hmmm, it was weird what I saw in the bathroom. Me: (thinking yeah because gas station bathrooms are known for their hygiene) What did you see? Brother: I just couldn't figure it out ... Me: Figure what out? This might be the most expensive gas in the area because it's right off Donner Pass and 80. However if you don't carry an air compressor with you and you need to drop the PSI in your tires to get over some large snow banks into Tahoe Donner, this place is a savior with free air on the way down the hill. read more

Today, we stopped by this station to buy lottery tickets, get snacks and gas. The owner, Bob, was so rude to every customer because all of them were there to buy lottery tickets. He complained that the lottery is a waste of his time and money ... that it was costing him customers. He claimed that he earns no money on lottery tickets. As I was first in the line, he griped at me and told me to go to Gold Ranch ... seriously! He told me I was holding up his line from all of his paying customers that were in line behind me (as if I wasn't a paying customer). I told him that I asked all of his customers to go ahead of me and that the rest of the people were also lottery sales ... he said, well, all of you need to go somewhere else to buy those damned lottery tickets; you're wasting my time. Although I wasn't finished with my lottery transaction, I cut it short and informed the clerk and owner that I would go somewhere else. I left the snacks on the counter, and they lost my business. I spent $102.00 to fill-up my car at his competitor, and I purchased the rest of my lottery tickets and snacks from the other, very close-by, service station, where they were very friendly and even wished me good luck on the lottery. I will NEVER patronize this Shell staction again ... I work too hard for my money, and I refuse to be verbally bullied by an unappreciative and curmudgeon owner. Nobody forced that foul mannered, bitter old man to become a lottery retailer; if the lottery is hurting his business (as he claims), why doesn't he get rid of it? It makes No sense. He's a liar and a bully. I will report him to the CA Lottery headquarters. read more

I like this place! Yes it's expensive but gas always is and always will be. I like that this place never has an out of order pump and is right off the freeway. They also have a car wash! For the location they have every right to charge what they charge and isn't more expensive than the other gas places on the other side of the freeway and I "trust" their gas more. and most importantly as a woman I feel safe here and I feel that any riff raff goes elsewhere as this place is well lit. read more

It's a good place to fill up before you get on the road. There's a good selection of goodies and cigarettes and ice cream. Nothing special, expect it to be busy on holiday weekends. There's often lines. read more

This Shell station typically has the highest gas prices in Truckee. Probaably because it is the most conveneient location in Truckee - right off the freeway and very visible. It does have a car wash. The employees seem to have a bad attitude. read more

I've been buying gas here for 20 years (because I live in Truckee and have no other choice) and I am so tired of their rip off / monopolistic pricing. Go either direction on 80 to Reno or Auburn and Truckee Shell is always 80 cents a gallon more expensive. The same fuel trucks that service the 80 corridor deliver from Sac to Reno and Truckee Shell has been gouging locals and guests for as long as I have lived here, and that's a long time. read more
