1 star for being conveniently located but they are not welcoming to travelers with pets and ridiculously overpriced (Diesel here is $1.40 higher PER GALLON than my last fill up!). I parked to stretch our legs and tried to walk over to the pump with my pup to check out their type of Diesel before filling and was PROMPTLY shooed off the the property by the staff because of my 20lb travel companion. Thirsty today so I went to go get a drink still have to ask for a cup at the register which I think is so weird and the price for a large drink at the fountain drinks is 259 everywhere else for a fountain drink is a dollar or a little more this is a total rip off and I don't think I'll be coming back prices needed lower. I've never really liked coming to this gas station. The prices for gas are always very high and the pricing on the snacks and sodas I side the convenience store are exorbitant. The gas pumps are always chaos as people pull into them from a million different angles. There are all sorts of shady characters in the area, which makes this place feel somewhat unsafe. I've seen some very shady things going on in and around this station. I only come here as a last resort. read more

I have never had any issues with a line and in the need of a sugar rush or libation this place has never let me down. I just filled up In Garibaldi and paid 23 dollars on my card. They could not give me a receipt, when I got home I happened to glance at my gas gauge and it was just at about the same place as before I had filled up. I got no gas for 23 dollars. Called them, they said they would look at the tapes and call me in the morning. read more

Amazing person named Clarence works here, as my grandpa left his wallet in the store and he looked it all over for it once we realized and by then we had reached San Jose that it was gone missing. We called him up and he started looking for it right away. He even tried to call us back as soon he found it and started waiting for us to show up. Once we got here, he was all smiles and gave us the wallet. My grandpa who was visiting from Houston was relieved and had all hugs for the guy. And we as family were relieved as well. So thank you Clarence and everybody else who works at the store for making this a happy ending :) read more

Love that this place is open late but don't be fooled! I only stopped by last night after 1am since I didn't think Logan (our Landcruiser) was going to make it any further. I was driving with the gas light on from Hwy 101. $72 later... no joke. $3.25/gallon here but if you go down to that no name gas station less than a mile away located in between Del Monte Produce and Monterey Fish House, it's $3.05/gallon as is the 76 in fron of Chef Lee's. With Moto GP weekend just ending and this brightly lit somewhat well kept gas station is conveniently located by the on and off ramp of Hwy 1, I can see how they can pull these types of shenanigans off. read more

I bought the most expensive car wash. One day later, I found hard and sticky gum drops all over the car. They were all over the car and it was very hard to remove. I think it's the RainX or the other chemicals were too old or were supposed to be watered down. Horrible experience. read more

Went into the shell today after purchasing gas to get a few items. The cashier was super friendly and helpful. They now have a Fuel rewards card. Certain items in the store when purchased give you different credits towards money off per gallon when purchasing gas at this shell station. For example when purchasing a car wash you get 15 cents/gal up to 20 gallons. You can also combine this with your Save Mart card if you have one as well, when you shop at Save Mart and use their card you earn similar rewards and can combine that reward amount with your Fuel rewards amount. Which could mean big savings if you spend a decent amount of money at Save Mart or inside the Shell station. read more

Just needed a quick exterior wash---the automated car wash seems pretty messed up though. The lighted instructions to pull forward, then reverse, no go forward kept flashing no matter where I tried to appease it; it pretty much moved me out of the way for it to actually spray my car. It did however drop a ton of rainbow soap all over my car on the way out though. Brilliant. read more

It's about my fifth time here. I always thought I was saving money from the huge rip off that I consider El Estero and DelRey car wash to be here in Monterey. Let's face it, 20 bucks for a minimum car wash is a rip. . Check with they pay in other cities. We have no options. Anyway, I have been coming here to the Shell car wash thinking I was being thrifty & smart. Today I ruined a brand new front left tire by hitting the damn metal rail in their car wash. It punctured my tire. I don't think it should be possible to hit a metal rail when you have to drive into the car wash to get under the washing machine. Why would there be anything that could puncture a tire in a "stay in the car" drive through car wash? Of course the Shell station people have nothing to say about it and don't offer any kind of guarantee. I'd like to think that I am unique but, let's face it, if this happened to me, surely it has happened to others. read more

Got gas here yesterday. It was 49 cents more per gallon than just a few blocks away but even worse than that was how slow the pumps were. It was more than one minute per gallon to fill up. It took 18 minutes to get 12 gallons of gas. I have NEVER had to wait so long. Will never waste my time or money stopping here again. read more
