The memory in question was about a catfish poboy wherein I ordered it and the cashier washed her hands, dredged a fresh catfish filet through an egg wash and cornmeal, prepped the roll, and voila! It was heavenly. 12+ years later, the menu only said "fish" poboy sandwich. If you're a catfish purist like myself, that's a red flag, so I went with the fried chicken. My wife ordered the Philly cheesesteak sandwich despite the geographical incongruity. Both were outstanding, and I can't recommend the kitchen enough.

They left an impression this last hurricane season by personally directing traffic to keep it moving efficiently and stopping people from cutting. They do offer a few good treats and cheap coffee for being a smaller gas station. They do not allow loitering so there is no panhandling or people hanging outside which I appreciate as a young woman.

I am going to say he's probably the owner…read more... by the way he spoke to his co workers, and rudely interfered with everyone and their transactions. the way he spoke down to every single person around him. my mistake? was using a credit card WHICH after a phone call to my credit card company? they saw something wrong with the transaction going on in this establishment, so they denied it. had to go home to get another card. they even called me on the phone to ask me if I had been in this place. they also told me that petro save still tried to collect off my card at the end of the day, even tho the transaction was denied. so something very fishy here when my card says no. maybe the address of this place isn't new orleans. that is usually why my card says no. especially when I had used the card earlier IN new orleans to pay for something. YES there is something fishy and rude about this place. That's some real price gouging there! ...and because i barely drive and i buy gas at the last minute, i often have to buy gas here anyway (location, location, location!) At least they give you the Winn-Dixie discount. They get a whole star for that...if only it off-set the fact that it still doesn't make up for the mark-up....and the closest Winn-Dixie is in Gentilly (it's still almost the closest big grocery store--the curse of the Bywater/Marigny.) They do at least have a working air pump (for $1 in quarters)...which goes well with my redneck-parking-lot-mechanic tendencies. Some out-of-work brown person might even offer to change your tire for you...if you're into that. i just realized i've never even been inside the place...so i guess it is at least kind of convenient in that way...but that's also because Hank's is right down the road and that's where i'd take my usual convenience store business...they just don't have gas or air.

There are a few stations along this stretch of road but this seemed to be one of the better choices judging by appearance only. It turned out to be a good choice the pumps were in great condition and the restrooms were pretty clean, heading east the station is on the left side of the road I recommend avoiding the station on the right just before the turn for this one it looks a little shady but that just my observation after pulling in and exiting without making a purchase.

Not gasoline, but something far more essential. An orange Powerade and a Tabasco seasoned beef stick were what I needed so I pulled into the first station I saw. The first thing I noticed about this station was the badass old GMC 4x4 panel truck in the lot. I don't know who it belonged to, but it gave me high hopes that the rest of the station would be equally badass. Boy, way I wrong. The interior of the station is not laid out very well. The aisles between the rows are narrow and you run the length of the store. If someone is perusing the oil selection, they block your path. I was able to find my items relatively easy, but that is about the only good thing I can say. My entire time in the store I felt very uneasy. The cashier was constantly scanning the store as if he was expecting trouble. I too detected a whiff of trouble when the doors opened and several gutter punks entered the store. Adding to the uncomfortableness was the several professional drunks fiending for beer. After paying, I headed for the door only to be accosted by the remaining gutter punks out front. I'd much prefer a beef stick buying experience that doesn't involve being harassed by degenerates. Good luck if you end up here.
