One man opened the door for me to enter, one said excuse me ma'am cuz I was looking at the Mexican popsicles blocking his way and the cashier stopped to tell me the fruit snacks were $6.99 each. This is a great place to fuel up on Road Trips. The attendant I felt with was friendly and welcoming. He read my mind and pointed me on the direction of Subway. This location houses a Subway Sandwich Shop. It has a convenience store with many of your road trip needs. It has a large selection of souvenir ballcaps. Sadly it didn't have a US Navy Veteran hat, or a USS Bagley FF1069 hat. They did have a hat for Marines. I had a nice stop at this Shell Station. I'll be back when I need fuel, a sandwich, or Road Trip essentials I may need. read more

WHY ARE YOU REVIEWING THIS SHELL? I'm reviewing the shell because it's been a while since an Elite left a review. Also, this is where I met my backpacking group before we explored Anza Borrego about 20 mi east. This is a mini travel center and you can likely get what you need with the exception of firewood. In regards to service, location, and most travel conveniences, it's suitable. IS THERE MORE THAN GAS? I picked up a subway sandwich and chips. Good to know the same excellent model was followed and it is clean. You can smell the bread from outside the doors. Prices are inflated and this is unsuitable. A bag of lays was $4.99. A 6 " turkey sub was $8.04. I'm shaking my head. I'm thankful I have the means but it's frustrating how working people are taken advantage of with the falsity of "inflation " Moving on. WHAT ARE HELPFUL NEED TO KNOW ? The gas bays can accommodate RV's and trucks. You can take a desert scenic photo alongside the fence and air and water is $2.00, if you need it. Restrooms are generally clean and inside. To give you perspective on the price difference for gas Gas in San Diego $4.79. Here $6.39. I like this Shell because they have orange fountain Fanta. ARE THEY DISABILITY CONSCIOUS? Disabled friendly, sort of. The only way you will be able to inform them that you need help if you have a disability is by calling them. Or asking another customer to inform them inside. This business should add an outside alert button/intercom and actually post the phone number next to the disability notice. " You. Yes you. Good place to stop off and get gas, although a bit pricey. Restrooms are dirty but they are free for anyone to use. There is Subway inside as well as a good selection of drinks and snacks. It's right off the freeway and is easy to get in and out of. read more

Great place to stop when you have your furry babies with you. They have a small enclosed area for them to relieve themselves. It's great because the next rest area going east or west is miles either way. A lil pricey if your stopping for gas and they also have a subway inside if you uh want to pick up something quick. read more

I came to Shell because I needed gasoline for my car. I had a half tank coming here so thank goodness this Shell is right off the freeway. I never went inside so I can't rate the inside. The only negative to getting gas is the price. It was $3.99 for unleaded. That's pretty expensive but it seems that a lot of people travel through here and gas seems to be more expensive when it's close to the freeway. I only gas up at Shell to keep my gasoline consistent and I typically like how you can get snacks and drinks inside. Plenty of room to maneuver here. I would come back if my tank was almost empty. read more

I am sure we have all stoped here one time in our life while traveling to and from San Diego they have a wide selection on drinks and snacks to choose from and it also has a Subway inside if you want a meal. The gas prices may be a little high but stations out in the stix usually tend to be and it is Shell fuel which costs a few cents more than any other gas stations charge per gallon but IMO it lasts longer and burns cleaner. The staff are always friendly and glad to see me when I walk in which is always nice and if Shell does not have what I am looking for they will radio the Chevron across the street to see if they have it and if so they will walk it over for me which is great customer service if you ask me. Plus they have a nice selection of beers to choose from which is always a plus for me! read more

CONS: One female employee wore her mask around her chin and even though I kept looking at her giving the hint that maybe it's not a good idea. Nope. So COVID precaution wise they need to reinforce that with their employees. Zero pricing on anything. They do it on purpose because it's pretty pricey. I guess that's how you pay for the bathrooms! PROS: Free bathrooms which weren't too bad. Easy access off the freeway. Subway inside. Broad selection of things. Maybe I'll try the Chevron across the street next time? Be forewarned... read more

If you're traveling east from San Diego, this is the only stop between Alpine and Ocotillo. So make sure to stop! There's restrooms, gas, a convenience store, and a Subway inside the shell station. read more

"Don't bother with the Subway any more. The former 24 hour store is now closed at 10:30 pm." -- That was written in 2016 or before. Needlessly grumpy review because I had come to rely on this Subway in the middle of the night, and I was hungry. Upgraded two stars to four 2018-08-05 because this Shell station has provided consistently good service to Jacumba, travelers on US 8, and repeat visitors like myself for many years. The Subway still employs local young people, who make great sandwiches from chilled and wholesome ingredients and are universally courteous and friendly. Today's complaint from Tony is that they no longer offer pastrami. That's not a big deal. The sandwich they made me was wonderful. Stop here hungry -- just don't do it at midnight. read more

This has everything you want. Very Nice, clean restrooms, easy off/back on the freeway. Much friendlier than average employees -considering its in the middle of nowhere this was a nice surprise. Price of gas is high, but not as high as that Chevron station down in Ocotillo. Pretty good selection of drinks and snacks, motor oil, maps, etc. A complete Subway is inside, making it a multipurpose store. The older lady working in the Subway part is a gem. The station is open 24 hours (the Subway isn't, though) and the restrooms are always clean. This is almost a required stop while on Interstate 8 now. Only drawback is somewhat high prices, but that's normal for remote travel places. Across the street is a large parking lot that allows overnight parking. However the lights surrounding it are really bright, and sometimes trucks let their engines idle for hours. I found it impossible to sleep there. read more

Ok, we stopped here because it advertised new restrooms. First of all they were not new, second of all not even clean. Place was shady. I dont recommend this Pit Stop. Dont be fooled by signs. read more

People are friendly, its pretty clean and it has a Subway in it. My only issue is that everytime I try to get a fountain drink it tastes and looks like soda water, no syrup. Get a bottle, dont waste you money on the fountain. read more
