When driving from the DMV it feels like the right thing to do to avoid all those highway backups, but in reality, it's not good for your bladder. I was nearing bursting on a stretch of road and was ready to pull over at the first gas station that I saw. At that point, I had no idea where I was or how far I had gotten. I had tuned out the GPS because my eyes were glued to the road to find a bathroom. I finally came out of a tree lined stretch of road and saw the illumination of a gas station. Wawa. Not necessarily my first choice, but I was happy to see the awning once around the trees. Pulled in, parked, nearly ran inside straight to the restroom. Now the one thing that all Wawas seem to lack is their cleanliness of their facilities. I don't know what people do, or don't do, in these restrooms, but they look like the ones you would find in a horror movie. Ones where they have been trashed beyond comprehension. Like how is it that the walls have paint rubbed off of it. All you need is flickering lights and you're set to be the next victim in the upcoming Wawa horror movie. Listen, even though the facilities were not presentable, I still needed to use them. All that horror makeup of the facilities faded away as my bladder returned to E. Outside the facilities, this isn't a bad Wawa. They still do have a lot to offer. I'm still not happy with their food, but I do like the swift convenience offered at the counter. Grab a drink, go to the counter, ask for an item and I was outside. With a lot of my car rides back home I always need to stretch my legs before I get back in the car. I was able to take in a phone call at the same time. While outside, I noticed that this place wasn't very busy this time of day, very early in the morning. If only that could be the case all the time.

No matter what I order, it actually feels like it was just made, not sitting around getting cold. That alone makes a huge difference. I also really appreciate that I've never gotten sick from their food. It's clear they take cleanliness and food handling seriously, which is something you don't always get with fast food places. It gives me peace of mind ordering from there. On top of that, the food just tastes really good. Whether it's their sandwiches, apps, or late night snacks, it always hits. It's one of those places you can rely on when you want something quick but still satisfying. Overall, Sheetz has been super consistent for me hot food, no issues, and great taste every time.

That's what happened this time around. If it wasn't for taking an alternative route, I probably wouldn't have even known this location existed. When I reach Frederick I know I'm anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour away. Which is usually about when I need to stretch the legs and get myself to a restroom. Thankfully the familiar red awning showed ahead of me and I knew I would be able to make a quick stop here. Pulled in, found a spot to park, and headed inside. Used the facilities, decently clean, and then browsed the store. I ended up getting my sweet tea and a pack of smokes before returning outside. To me, this location feels tucked away and mostly serves those in the community more so than the travelers on the highway. Which isn't a bad thing.

I knew on my way back that I would be able to hit this spot up before getting back on the highway. Let's talk about the lot. I'm sure it is fun to come here after a winter storm. Good luck being able to get the door if you do not have four wheel drive or winter tires on your vehicle. The parking lot is located on a hill and I am sure it is not very forgiving given those circumstances. Inside, it's a bit on the small side. But, it is what it is. I went to go grab a drink as soon as I came in here and then made my way to the register. When I approached the register it was like I interrupted the employees day. I asked for an item from behind the counter and it was like he didn't hear me and tried to give me something I didn't ask for. I had to correct him, and then guide him to the item I wanted. It was just an odd interaction overall. When leaving, use the side street, it's easier. Instead of attempting to enter the multilane road, just use the side street. It has a light and makes it much easier for your reentry to the highway.

After a few trips around the snack isle I decided to ask the guy at the register, a rather angry looking Nigerian man. "Tsk, It's over there," he said waving in a general direction that gave me no clue. "Could you be more specific?" I asked. He angrily walked over to the location and shoved his finger. "Right here," he snapped. I brought the items to the register and he angrily rung it up, slamming the pies on the counter. I really wanted those pies. There's something about stale artificially flavored pastry that just does it for me, but this guy was too much to take. "Never mind," I said and left the store. I can't say whether the service has improved in the last five years but it's safe to say I'll never find out. I don't give my money to people who treat me like crap.
