An extremely racist cashier, on Christmas Day, Starbucks was closed so I stopped the convenience store and purchased a few waters and snacks. The tall cashier yelled " we do not accept EBT cards" at no point did I ask or appear that I was on government assistance. There is nothing wrong with those who need assistance but to imply that I would be unable to pay with out the card was extremely uncalled for and Racist and did not represent the Shell brand. This will be raised to corporate and discussed with leadership that racism exist in your store in ELK GROVE and it will need to be denounced. Rosemary the manager and the local owner should contact me after the holidays as this will be elevated no question. I do not advocate generally for termination of employees but due to the holiday I did not respond in a typical fashion by undressing your employee and establishing the fact that in no way should he be involved in customer service. This place is terrible! I got a flat tire where the side walls were completely deteriorated and the old lady with no empathy threatened to have my car towed if I left it there. Mind you my Lexus was pulled off to the side away from any traffic. I explained I just needed to remove the tire, bring it to the shop to replace and I would be back. She again threatened me. Its unfortunate how some people cannot put themselves in other people's shoes, even when it cost them nothing to do so. SMH. read more

Went here with my new car after getting a service at the dealership. My car was dirty, so I figured I'd get their expensive gas to get the car wash. I wish I had read these reviews! So I drove into the car wash, in the center like you do, and got the signal to stop and back up. So I backed up and my left tires went over a big lump. Now my car was tilted at an angle. That didn't seem right, so I pulled forward again as I felt scraping metal under my car! Arrerrgggggg! The signal to stop never reappeared, but I didn't want to risk their janky set up, so I drove on out, and went in. The lady at the counter said, oh, you didn't drive on the ramp. What? The "ramp" is not where wheels would be, it's way over on the left and looks pieced together with various big metal pipes. I asked if she's had complaints about scraping under vehicles before, and she said no. Sure. There better not be anything wrong with my vehicle now. I got a refund and washed it at home. This place is on my way to 99. However, whenever I come here in the early morning, I get told By the female manager that I can not use my credit card. It doesn't matter if it is my shell or MasterCard. This morning I had my purchased ready and she said you can't use your card and wave her hand over my product as if she were one of the wicked sisters from Macbeth. I can't help but take it personal. I don't really say anything rude or nasty to her. Could it just be that I am not handsome or well built enough for her? Or is it because she is in love with me and realizes it will be unrequited? Whatever the reason, it is very frustrating and eventually I will just have to go a mile and 5 minutes out of my way to another Shell Station. They offer the 2-for-1 lift ticket voucher here. The place is always clean. Once, a relative of the attendant decided to light a cigarette outside of the store. The attendant, who was on the other side of the station sweeping debris, came rushing across the lot screaming and waiving her broom. The relative tried did not put out the yuck stick as instructed, so he was swatted numerous times with the broom. The broom beat down included lots of yelling from the attendant while the young man with the cigarette proceeded to repeat the words, "Are you seriously hitting me with the broom right now?! Really?!" The show lasted for some time and the attendant prevailed. Smoker dude killed the cigarette as he ran away from her. All this happened early in the morning, so we were the only customers there. What a show! At least we know they are serious about the no smoking rule! I warn you now... Light up and you will see a broom flying in your direction. read more

Don't use the car wash. They made an effort to put NO REFUNDS on the car wash sign. Why? Because they I've constant issues with it! I should have known. I asked if it was working when paying and he said yes. It didn't wash my car right, left dirt in patches, and then cut out when the drier needed to work, I had to wait for another car to finish before redoing while waterspouts form on my hot car. The lady came out yelling at me that she activated the drier twice. Yelling I told her that I already had wye raptors and had to redo it again. She laughed at me and walked away.ahe then redid the car wash. Amazing. Why would she get so upset? Is she losing money due to my fault? Why is the drier tripping the breaker? Well, this place deserves no stars, if I'm honest. Sunny, the employee, called me stupid TO MY FACE despite the problem being his own inability to be a polite human being. See, I don't normally come to this place. I ended up going here to buy a lotto ticket since my dad didn't get them himself. I walk in and ask about lotto; Sunny and the other employee point me at the kiosk thing to fill out the paper slip. So I do that, and when I get to the register Sunny tells me I did it wrong--he can't do it if I don't fill in the bubble exactly right. I say, "even if it's all quick picks?" and he shoos me back to the kiosk thing, and while I'm over there he comes to refill the things. I say "I've never had to be this precise to do quick picks before ..." and then it finally clicked for this poor excuse for a customer service representative that oh, I can just go right to the register and I DON'T need to do the thing he literally just told me to do. Back at the register he tells me to just go right to the register and not worry about forms because they don't know what to do with the forms. I again pointed out I told him I was only there for quick picks and that's when he called me stupid. I was floored. Never have I been called stupid to my face by someone on the clock anywhere! Given that cotton-in-the-ears over there literally couldn't hear me point-blank tell him what I was there for only to be told to do the opposite of what was necessary, I find that to be ironic. When I asked him his name so I could make a record, he couldn't even spell it at first, so I'm just going to assume dude needs to be retrained on absolutely every aspect of working customer service. I'm honestly disgusted that's allowed, but looking at how many people have had bad experiences here, clearly this isn't a one time thing. Do yourself a favor: drive over the freeway to the Shell station half a mile away. Don't give these people your business. They don't deserve it, especially if they're going to treat people so poorly. Let's hope they hire new people soon, or go out of business. With so many other gas stations literally visible from this place, there's absolutely NO NEED to ever go here. read more

Never had a reason to write a review about this place, but something happened to my last week that made me so irate that I had to say something. My car was bombarded with bird poo after spending a few hours washing and polishing it the night before. I was too lazy to wash it again and decided to take it to the Shell Car wash. Keep in mind that this review is ONLY for their car wash. The car wash costs $7 ( $1 discount with the gas) and as I made my way around the corner to enter the car wash, I was flabbergasted when I saw the car wash that I was going to put my car through. It was the poorest excuse for a car wash. The area was practically empty and the equipment look like it should had been replaced 15 years ago. I entered the car wash grew more and more angry with each squirt of water on my car. By the end of it, my car was still wet and the bird poo were still there. I was not going to stand for this injustice and went inside to ask for a refund. I had to talk to the manager who asked me numerous questions after I told him that i was unhappy with the car wash. After a few minutes of exchanging words, he asked if I would like to run through the car wash again or get a refund. In my head, I was thinking, HELL NO I don't want to run my car through it again. So i got my refund back. When I told him that, he nods and agrees that the car wash is very bad. WHY WOULD YOU QUESTION ME THEN? Just horrible. DO NOT WASH YOUR CAR HERE. Wow...went here on a whim to get a touch less car wash. Paid $4.02 for gas instead of $3.82 because I was using my debit card just to get a stupid $9.00 wash. When the wash was over my car was just as dirty and soaking wet. I went inside and told the two young guys lounging behind the counter. The guys response was, "ya, it doesn't work very good." I asked him if I could go through again or get a refund. He said no. How sad...I was speechless. You admit your product is defective then tell me too bad, so sad. Ouch. I went in on 12/24/18 to get propane and was told that they were not selling propane because it was raining. Went back into my car to google another location to get propane. While I was waiting, a car stopped by the propane tank and a Indian person got out, walked into the store came back out with attendant and bought propane. Wow, just because I wasn't Indian(middle eastern) they did not want to go out in the rain and sell me propane. read more

Had a bad experience with attendant this morning. As far as I can remember living in the area, every time I fuel and purchase items from their store inside she seems to always be in a bad mood. She's probably in her late 40's early 50's, I don't remember her name only because she comes accross as unapproachable and with an attitude. I was trying to pay for a cup of coffee and gum this morning and had a $100.00 dollar bill, she rudely says "OH! I CANT BREAK THAT!" Rudely. I asked her aren't you a service location and should try to accommodate customers. She said "NO, EXCUSE ME!"
