Vintage style, comfortable, and perfectly located in the heart of Chelsea. One of the best parts of staying here is the location. The hotel is directly across the street from Chelsea Market, with some of NYC's best spots including Tao Downtown, Philippe, Catch, and Dream, all less than a minute walking distance away. I want to thank Alex at the front desk, I believe he is the front desk Manager, who went above and beyond to make my stay special. His attentiveness, thoughtful hospitality, and genuine care for guests truly stood out. Small gestures and meaningful conversations can make all the difference, and Alex embodies exactly what exceptional hospitality should feel like. Great location for High Line walks and Little Island visits…read more Front staff was abominable. Check-in had a line and staff was short and seemingly put-out. No details about the hotel - gym, restaurants, WiFi. Not welcoming. Undeterred, our room had nice views and was clean with a worn carpet. Room service was polite, got the order correct and food was excellent. That night, a distressed dog in the room next door barked for hours. It was heart wrenching and obviously a disturbance. When I called the front desk, she said "I guess I'll call Animal Control to get that dog." And then hung up on me. What an absurd response to a concerned guest and a troubled pup. The Standard's decor has a super fun vibe, in general. But in a city packed with hoteld for similar prices and in the same neighborhood, I'd rather be around a staff that doesn't seem miserable.

1 Star -- Extremely Disappointing for a $500+ Per Night Hotel…read more I recently stayed at the W Hoboken, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing--especially considering the $500+ per night price point. The location is excellent, but the service, facilities, and overall level of hospitality simply did not match what I would expect from a W Hotel at this price. The service throughout my stay was very inconsistent. The restaurant was disappointing. The only server who stood out positively was Destiny, who was friendly, attentive, professional, and actually seemed to understand what good hospitality looks like. She was the exception. Unfortunately, most of the other restaurant staff appeared very young and inexperienced, and I did not get the impression that they had received adequate server or hospitality training. Basic requests, such as condiments, involved surprisingly long wait times. There was also very little warmth or engagement from the staff. Destiny was essentially the only person who consistently smiled and made an effort to provide genuine customer service. The front desk experience was also disappointing. Staff frequently did not maintain eye contact and at times appeared nervous, uncomfortable, or unsure when interacting with guests. Again, this is simply not the level of confidence, professionalism, and hospitality I expect from a hotel charging $500+ per night. For a hotel at this price point, I expect a substantially higher standard of service, attention to detail, professionalism, and hospitality. I have traveled extensively throughout the United States and around the world and have stayed at many luxury hotels. In my experience, the W Hoboken was the worst value I have encountered in the $500+ per night hotel category. The price creates an expectation of a certain level of luxury and service, and the actual experience fell far short of that expectation. The W Hoboken could learn a great deal from luxury brands such as Ritz-Carlton and Waldorf Astoria, particularly when it comes to hotel management, employee training, customer service, and restaurant operations. I hope management takes this feedback seriously. The property has a great location and could be a much better luxury experience, but at $500+ per night, the service needs to be dramatically improved to justify the price.

The historic charm and association with cultural icons of art and music seems disjointed from its current realty as an overpriced and underwhelming "luxury" Manhattan hotel. It's not actually in the middle of any of the fun things going on in Chelsea and still a walk aways from any of the classic attractions like Chelsea Market, the High Line, etc. I have no idea why anyone would choose to stay here. From the second we entered the restaurant, everyone was so nice. Guy at the entrance door, hostess, our waiter.... So friendly. We loved the decor.. the food reviews seemed more positive at the Guesthouse and we agree. Completely different vibe. Rooftop is casual, family friendly. Guesthouse is more for special dinners, meetings, dates, etc... There's no dress code, I came in leggings and sneakers and we were treated like royalty. We ordered a lobster roll for L and I got 2 mini lobsters with caviar for our appetizers. We both preferred our own app but with caviar or without, the lobster was delicious.. much better than the rooftop. I went to the rooftop the following week to compare. The meat was sweet and savory.. very buttery. Rooftop had too much mayo, we almost ordered another one. The caviar lobster rolls were good but the caviar wasn't necessary... I just wanted to try it. I ordered a Negroni and it was also really good and so cute with the RH ice cube. Then came the Wagyu steak and my Branzino. Both were delicious. L ordered his steak Medium Rare. I make amazing steak but I don't mess with Wagyu so it was actually very tasty. They had finishing salt on the side. The steak was seasoned perfectly so it didn't need additional salt. My Branzino had so much meaty flesh I couldn't finish it. It's enough for 2 almost.... I also ordered the sweet potatoes since it got great reviews. It tasted exactly like how I made it once at home but I want to eat healthier so I don't put all the extra ingredients usually. Everything was so good. Great service. We loved everything.. again, we didn't dress up even though a lot of diners did. Whether you do or not.. they treat you so well. I've recommended this spot to others and they loved it too.

We arrived around 10 p.m. to find the room extremely hot and muggy. There was a dehumidifier in the room that was already completely full, so we had to empty it ourselves. The room also had a small window AC unit, which we turned on before leaving for a late dinner. When we returned, the room was still hot. It never cooled down, and we literally sweated through the night. The next morning, we explained what happened to a staff member. His response was to roll his eyes and say, "Yeah, that room is the worst." He took our information and told us he would speak to the manager about issuing a refund. Then--nothing. I called the hotel multiple times over the next two days and could not get through to anyone who could help. I finally emailed and went back and forth with someone named Mitchell. We weren't even insisting on getting our money back--we offered to return for another night and give the hotel another chance. They would neither refund the stay nor comp us a future night. In the end, they refunded the $36 facility fee. For a nearly $400 room that was hot, muggy, noisy, and apparently known by the hotel staff as "the worst" room, refunding a $36 facility fee felt like a slap in the face.
