Never have had a bad experience here - and wouldn't expect to as it is a Super Sheetz and I believe the site of the first Sheetz stores. Might be spewage - don't know. They have a heavy amount of gas pumps, the inside is about 4 times the size of a regular store- with a large dining area, separate places for salads, pizza, drinks, and regular food to be made, and a drive thru. Upon my latest stop- I ordered my usual salad and was amazed at the toppings available at this location, to the usual order of turkey, Parmesan, hard boileds, diceds, romaine, pepper rings, and cheese, I also was able to add broccoli, carrots, and corn and bean salsa. Wow. Not to mention they also have an option where the dressing can be mixed by then into the salad rather than you doing it and looking like a fool shaking your salad container in public. Was a big fan. Not to mention a HUGE slush section, about 30 fridge doors and plenty of snacks and convenience store items. read more

Rip Off Alert: Wow. Stopped in for breakfast today and ordered a breakfast burrito, mostly because the photo on the order screen looked so good. It wasn't. Not even close. This is a forgotten Sheetz. I can't remember the music. I can't remember the washrooms. I can't remember what we bought - other than mallow cups, both mallow and butterscotch. But what I do remember is that this Sheetz has a strange layout. There was almost no space for the lineup at the cash. It wasn't clear who was in line or where the line started or if people near th cash were just looking at chocolate bars. It meant that two people budded in line while others were waved through ahead of many who were waiting. I'm not bitter about it, but it sure was confusing, particularly for a Sheetz where the layout is largely standard. read more

Being in the city that is the birthplace of Sheetz I decided that it would be wrong to not visit at least one location while I was here. When looking to see if Sheetz has a flagship store, there is not definitive answer to that, but this might as well be that. This Sheetz is so huge that it gives off a truck-stop-along-the-turnpike vibe. Even though this is the case, it sits along a busy street in Altoona. The sheer size alone is intimidating. I mean this place is so big that you could literally take in a meal and then shop for items to take home for yourself to make your own meal all while you are filling up your tank outside. MTOs are typical and fast prepped. I honestly have never had a bad experience from the food at any particular Sheetz, this one included. The staff are super friendly and helpful here. Pros about this place: the size, huge selection of everything including alcohol, ample pumps for gas, more options than your typical sized Sheetz. Cons about this place: the size (only because it can be overwhelming), the lot can be confusing to maneuver around. read more

Stopped in to grab a couple of breakfast sandwiches and ordered at the kiosks. I got a chicken, egg, & cheese on an English muffin and my hubs got a sausage, egg, and cheese bagel. It took a while for them to get our order ready despite the fact that there was no one else ahead of us. Then, when I opened up my sandwhich, I found that they had added ketchup, which I did not order. I was a little disappointed but didn't take it back. Having spent the weekend in Blair County with a good friend of mine a number of times in the past years, I feel like I really should pay some mention to the mother of all convenience stores at some point. So... Mega-Sheetz. The good is that because they've found a loophole in PA's idiotic alcohol regs, you can buy six-packs there, and even drink there if you want! Who's heard of beer at a convenience store?! Oh yeah, anyone from any other state. The MTO food there is also a little bit less terrifying than it is in most other locations. But only a little bit. The sheer scale of the place is sort of an experience, as well. I mean, if you've been on the road and seen a truckstop like a Flying J or whatnot, you've seen a bigger gas station, but it's not quite the same as seeing a Sheetz bloated to that size. The bad? Well, aside from the mac 'n' cheese bites and the fried chicken and the jalapeño poppers (you know, all the health food,) there's not much there that I'll allow to pass my lips. Sandwiches on microwaved bread? Ew ew ew. My tastes aren't classy, but they're above that. The parking lot is always full of little toolbag kids and their stupid-ass fart muffler cars or lifted trucks. If you like a parade of idiots who think any car with a clutch pedal is a race car and their girlfriends who don't know better yet, this is the place for you. If you want to safely navigate a parking lot, avoid at all costs. But really, there's no Sheetz with a parking lot that's not chaotic. read more

I kinda miss Sheetz. If you're traveling throughout the Midatlantic, you will see many Sheetzes, and despite some of their punworthy advertising, they're great places to top and get gas and other stuff. This one is in a great location along I-99 in Altoona. It's a couple of blocks from the exit, at the bottom of the hill. It's very large, with a lot of gas pumps, and the time we stopped it was pretty busy. I also needed to take a restroom break so I went inside and used their clean and spacious facilities. Big thumbs up for those! This is also a giant, full service Sheetz. They've got a drive-thru for food orders, and they've got all their usual stuff -- the subs, the coffee, the grab and go stuff. They've got a ton of convenience store aisles, so you should be able to find whatever you want here. read more

Love the kiosk ordering system. Bathrooms were always super clean-- thank you! Traveled through PA from NY stopped here every time. Big dislike on all ice cream products they sell-- very strange taste -- chemical type rare on flavors. Also tried the "nutrition shake" also awful! Threw both the Dr Pepper float and nutrition shake out- complete waste of money. Love the mozzarella sticks and the chicken poppers. read more

I don't know why I even bother coming back to Sheetz for food, but after today I'm not. The food was good ~7 years ago, but you can easily tell that Sheetz doesn't care anymore, because they know they have customers. Literally 100% of the time I've gone to Sheetz for food in the last few years, it's been extremely bad. It does not matter which location I go to, it's all the same. They've cheaped out on quality ingredients and have started doing the same with portions, heavily. Example, back in the day, you could get a grilled chicken sub and it'd have a good amount of chicken on it. Now, you can get the same item, now more expensive, but with ~65% less chicken. The buns/rolls are ALWAYS either stale or hard, so when I get a sub, it breaks at the crease and the fillings just fall out. The fries are always hard. The chicken strips are always hard and made with very low quality chicken. The hotdogs (as stated before, dry, inedible buns) and the employees either dump a whole bottle of ketchup on it, or put 3 pea sized dots on it. Meatball subs always feel/taste like they were left to sit for 3 or 4 days before you get it. The salads are overpriced garbage with old and probably VERY close to being expired ingredients. The slider burgers I used to get for my son don't even taste like burgers, go out and try one, they're funky.. You'll see. I could just keep going on and on, but anyone reading this can get the point. Sheetz, start training your employees, because it's overwhelmingly obvious that you don't. This is what happens when you let a bunch of untrained teenagers make food. read more

Oh this just isn't a regular Sheetz, this is a SUPER Sheetz. It has everything you need and more. Any craving you may have can be fulfilled in this one-stop shop. But what makes this Sheetz better than the others, is that you can actually stop and eat here- no need to rush back to the car to eat, just stop, relax and enjoy the modern and fun atmosphere. It's hard to believe this is a gas station sometimes, and is a strong pride of Altoona. But if you are in a rush- why not have a touch-screen drive through where you order what you want, and not even have to turn off the car. Much better than stopping at a fast food chain. So if you happen to be driving by on the highway and need a great place to stop on the way- make this a stop and it will definitely be a great time :) read more

Thos place used to be amazing but they are trying to make thier own stuff and basically be vertically integrated. All thw while maximize profit. Great business model if we all shared the same pallet and love for low quality. Sercice is not ad fadt as they think either. 3 different registers for dufferent items. I mean we do half the work orderibg on a keypad no order taker. We get our own self serve product coffee lottery tickets etc. Glad they pay ok and are convenient. Other than that there is no reason to drive past a place to get here. If anythibg its a last resort. read more

I discovered this chain on a recent trip to Penn State to visit my brother at school...First off awesome donuts! Second cheap gas and other goods in store. Third , great coffee, I also enjoyed the automatic sugar dispeners that measured by individual packet! That's clever bc I usually overshoot with a normal sugar container by having that I get a perfect cup overtime. Fourth, love the sandwiches !! I agree with other reviewer, you can't beat a Sheetz for convenience and cleanliness. It's always a pleasure to see the red roof of a Sheetz store in the distance. This Sheetz is a 'super' Sheetz with seating inside and out. It is clean and the staff are helpful. There are tv's and Wi-Fi (I think...I didn't use it). The food is freshly made and delicious. read more

Don't go to this Sheetz anytime after 10:30 p.m. for coffee. Everytime, they're being "cleaned." Also, workers are very rude and short. Now Sheetz on Logan Blvd. Is much better with customer service and they actually HAVE coffee. read more
