"We need to move to SC and within walking distance of this place" were the first words…read moreI spoke to my wife after having come down from NJ on a solo trip to see my mom. I landed at the Columbia airport and hopped in the rental to go check this place out before I made my way to my mom's place about 45 min away. I didnt know this was still a carryout or delivery spot until I got there- they have some patio seating but the chairs inside are all stacked to the side. The gentleman at the counter was super polite and mentioned he would he happy to help if I had any questions. Today's menu included bbq popcorn chkn, so I got the plate with that and 4 sides- collard greens, double mac and kidney beans. I was told there were large orders ahead of me and there would be a 30 min wait. Not an issue if you read below- and now I was extra curious! I sat in the car and was texted barely 20 min later that my order was ready. Here we go... I made it about 10 min into my drive before I found a place to just pull over and eat because the aroma of the (what felt like) 5 lb plate was taking over the car! My mouth waters as I write this a day later. This was proper vegan soul food, heck this was proper soul food. Collards were tangy, sweet. salty and melted when you got a forkful. Mac was creamy (i dont care if they were shells, they are just a vessel for flavor), and the kidney beans were spiced just right and the perfect compliment. Chkn was still crispy and tossed just enough in sauce not drowning in it. I got through half the plate (and I have an appetite) before I was plain stuffed. Good thing too because I remembered I was sharing this with my mom when I got home. Euphoria quickly turned into gluttony-remorse but not a bad remorse at all. This food was bangin, slapped, all that, fire, toothsome, bussin' - I would have slapped my momma but I have too much respect (and fear). On a related note, am I the only one that is classically conditioned to salivate when I hold a warm, heavy styrofoam container without even knowing whats inside? You know, when you first hear that styro-squeak as you open the lid, get that first whiff of deliciousness and your eyes first go to the condensation on the inside of the lid as you slowly pan hollywood style to the food in the plate, complete with theatrical glorious music playing? No? Guess its just me. Back to it. If there was even room in the container- all it needed was a slice or two of plain white bread, nothing fancy, sunbeam style is perfect. Summary: RUN here. Don't sweat the prices, portions are huge. Always support local-esp when the product is straight sorcery. Warning: If you are prone to back problems, you may want help lifting the plates. To the owners if you are reading: Please open up in NJ and Thank you!

Our waitress, Brandi (Brandice), was phenomenal -- knowledgeable, informative, respectful, and genuinely happy to be there. Her energy made the entire experience even better. The restaurant itself is deeply rooted in history as part of the Friendship Nine sit‑in location, and you can feel that significance the moment you walk in. It adds a meaningful layer to an already great dining experience. The bathroom was spotless, the prices were very reasonable, and everything from start to finish felt intentional and well cared for. Highly recommend Kounter for anyone looking for great food, great service, and a place that honors an important piece of Rock Hill's history.

On the menu for today I chose the Blue plate Special ($23) OG, bacon wrapped meatloaf, swirl potatoes, veggie du jour, stewed, collards, steakhouse, vinaigrette, cilantro Crema. The dish was Tender medallions of meatloaf, wrapped in savory bacon. Topped with a steakhouse vinaigrette, tangy, and savory, which had an amazing flavor by itself, I just wish it added more to the main. Which was slightly bland. Unfortunately, this cilantro Crema had no hints of cilantro. The actual star of the show is the collard greens. The Collard greens has a subtle kick, which is amazing and flavorful, and gives that little extra punch. Hand slammed fries ($5) Parmesan - rosemary dusted, roasted tomato malt vinaigrette. Tasty especially with their house made ketchup, but unfortunately, the fries were a little on the soggy side. And a Blake's cider (5). crisp and refreshing. Perfect for a southern Carolina afternoon. Overall, food was delicious, but could use just a hint of attentions to flavor. I would definitely recommend you give Kounter a try. I would love to come back here again and try some more of their menu. Follow me on Yelp and Instagram @noodlesoupr as I travel the world in search of delicious food encounters.

Every dish was a masterpiece, bold and elegant, comforting and exciting all at once. This is vegan food that doesn't whisper or apologize--it commands the room. The flavors were layered, intentional, and downright magical. Each plate arrived like a work of art, and somehow tasted even better than it looked. I kept thinking, there is no way the next dish can top this--and yet, it always did. Plant proves, without question, that vegan cuisine can be indulgent, luxurious, and unforgettable. And then... the dessert. I am not exaggerating when I say it deserves its own standing ovation. Rich, decadent, perfectly balanced--one bite and time stopped. If happiness had a flavor, this would be it. I would return to Plant for dessert alone, without a second thought. Plant is hands-down the best vegan restaurant in Asheville. It's passion, creativity, and excellence on a plate. If you haven't eaten here yet, you're missing out on something truly special. This is the kind of place that ruins other restaurants for you--in the best possible way.

I didn't get a picture of the GEM & carrot salad, but we all agreed it was fabulous. The left side of the menu is called "small plates" so they are intended as appetizers. There are only a handful of entrees on the right side. The blondie dessert was great. $60-$100+ each at our table. I was skeptical but the food was delicious, service great, and we all enjoyed our evening at Plant.

I don't eat beef, pork or chicken. I only eat things from the sea. So, when it comes to finding other proteins, it's very limited in some places. I had "The Bob" with Kale Salad. That burger was so tasty, soft and delicious! Everything was perfect in each bite:) The kale salad was yummy as well. Kale is one of my favorite veggies, so this was right up my alley. I also tried the Hush Puppies. They were big and round with a great taste, especially with the chipotle-brown sugar butter. I loved it! My husband ordered the Chikn Caesar Wrap with Tots. Even though this was new to him, he did enjoy it. He raved about the tots. I just had to sample it myself and it was awesome! Those tots were crispy, hot and full of flavor. Hands down the best!!! Customer service was great and the restaurant had a really great setup! Overall we definitely will be ordering again soon:)

It was fairly easy to find, and there was plenty of parking when we went. The building is so cute and there's a little alley for a photo op. There are seats outside and some inside. When we went some of the tables were reserved for an event, but there were still open options to choose from. Its a grab a menu and order at the bar style place which I don't mind. Service was great and staff was really friendly. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive. For dinner I ordered the chicken tenders with a honey mustard dipping sauce and a side of tots. I was not a big fan of the breading on the vegan chicken. I also wish it had a bit more seasoning. Every one in my party were not a fan of their meals unfortunately due to lack of seasonings/taste. We did order hush puppies for the table which came with a cinnamon flavored sauce. The Hushpuppies tasted a bit overcooked. Overall I am always on the hunt for began spots so glad I was able to try it. I also noticed they have events there so maybe it will be a fun spot to just grab drinks and enjoy the vibe.

On every visit to Charlotte, I stop here 2-3 times, whether it's to meet up with friends and colleagues for lunch, to grab a quite bite before evening plans, to spend happy hours and dinners on that delightful back patio or to pick up that insane vegan dessert I've been craving. I mean, can it get any better than a spread of vegan elote corn, nachos smothered with beans, seitan, guac/queso/crema or my new favorite, the crunch wrap with a glass of something icy cold (I usually get a glass of something sparkling at the back bar). Since my last review almost 5 years ago, they sadly removed the matcha cruffin (that I still can't get out of my head!) and added in an entire display of sugary/spicy/chocolatey greatness (I'm still kicking myself for being too late on my way to the airport to get that lemon bar I'd been eying or the pumpkin BUNDT CAKE, ffs. What is wrong with me?) The sweetest owners, the loveliest staff from front counter to back bar to food runners and bussers. I adore Oh My Soul with every ounce of my being.

Person taking our order was rude. Asked what he would recommend as a side given that we'd never been to the restaurant before. He just listed off all the sides and appeared annoyed by the question. We finished our order and he then cancels the tip screen and I didn't know why. He asks if I want a receipt and I say sure. Then I notice that they have an automatic "service charge" of 15% that isn't advertised anywhere in the restaurant. I'm not necessarily against restaurants doing this but it should be advertised. Also, you should have service if you're going to charge a "service charge." Our service consisted of a counter order and then someone who eventually brought out our food. Water was never even refilled. Vibe of everyone that worked there was angry and aggravated. Multiple people scowled at me walking through the dining room from the kitchen. One worker threw open the kitchen door obviously pissed about something. Everyone in the restaurant was waiting forever for their food and other tables would have one entree come out while the other person at the table waited another 15 minutes for their food. Food was nothing special. My wife liked her Mother Earth bowl which is why I'm giving two stars. My chicken sandwich was something out of a frozen box. Hush puppies and onion rings were standard. We only had water to drink. All of this cost us $54.20 total. Anymore this feels like a standard experience in an American restaurant unless you do someplace high end. Ok food, terrible value, terrible service, and junk fees. Like they're doing you a favor just being there. All of this for a restaurant that, as the walls show, is trying to convince you to become vegan. This won't do it guys. Do better if you really care about bringing people to your cause.
