Good drinks and food. I had the fish n chips which came with mushy peas side. Fish was crispy on the outside and flakey fresh fish on the inside. I washed it down with an Irish Collins which I enjoyed it was refreshing and paired well with the fish. Husband ordered corned beef and cabbage which came with a sauce on its own was bland but when you top the beef it all comes together really nicely. This was by far my favorite bar/ pub I visited in Dublin. Very fast and friendly service. I got the goat cheese sandwich with caramelized onions and it came with soup and chips for about € 9.50. The chips were cooked to perfection and the best ones I had while here. Great location with authentic Irish food. Bathrooms were very clean. The only downside is the bathrooms are downstairs so if you have mobility issues you might not be able to reach them. read more

I read online that this was the place for corned beef and cabbage. On a prior trip to dublin I ate here and really liked it. This time it was pretty dry and flavorless. Holy staircases batman!!! A couple of me auld familiar Yelpers ended up here after having a shitty experience at a fancy pants establishment next door. We were starved hungry and just looking for some "dry packing" for a nights drinking ahead at Temple Bar. Fair play, the bartender sent us upstairs where a somewhat dry humored but absolutely efficient waitress took care of us. The Guinness was great as was the Beef in Guinness Pot Pie it washed down. Downstairs was definitely more happening than upstairs but when you have 6 in your party on a Friday night during happy hour, you take what you can get. read more

I'd never even noticed this place before, never mind been inside. It's gorgeous. Like an old country cosy pub but in the middle of town. It does have a slight tourist twang off it but not a saccharine begorah type one. More of a comforting level of old man bar with new world edge. They've got a whopper selection of whiskeys which seals the deal and a great pint of Guinness. I liked the second level the best as it was the cosiest in my opinion. This is definetly a nice Irish pub. Me and a few Irish natives had a much and a few drinks here. And I couldn't believe it... they had salads. I haven't had a salad since moving to London from the USA. Why don't we have salads in London?? Why batman why? I wouldn't say this is the wild Irish bar that we hit after we ate, but definetly a nice places to have a few and drink. Nice pint of Guinness and decent armosphere in Sheehans, however we were pretty much laughed out of the place when we asked them to throw on the United game last night (the tv in question wasn't even on so it's not like we were asking them to switch). We were informed that there was rugby on. We don't go out for a pint to get sneered at so we left and went to Hairy Lemon where they were far more down to earth. Won't be in any hurry back - we'll leave Sheehans to the elitist rugby crowd. read more

The best fish & chips I've had, not just in Dublin, but in all of Ireland over multiple extended cross-country holidays. Any "best fish & chips" article that doesn't mention Sheehan's isn't to be trusted. I've tried all of those frequently mentioned pubs/chippies/restaurants, and Sheehan's is superior. The perfectly prepared tasty cod have just the right amount of batter, fried for just the right amount of time. I'm not a fan of tartar sauce -- or "tartare" as it's usually spelled in Ireland -- but my wife is an experienced tartare connoisseur, and she rates Sheehan's the best in that department as well based on the thorough use of capers in their fresh recipe. The spicy chicken wings are also excellent here. The cozy pub interior is among Ireland's most attractive. There is a more restaurant-like room upstairs with its bar connected to the downstairs pub via a dumbwaiter, but my wife & I prefer the perfected Irish pub environment downstairs. read more

Sheehans is a great pub, just around the corner from Grafton Street. It is nice and cozy downstairs, with dark wood and pretty much your typical pub interior. The couches are comfy, but you will really sink into the seats making getting up quite tricky, but why would you want to anways? The staff are really nice and friendly, but they might make fun of you for ordering two glasses of coke. Sheehans usually has a nice relaxed atmosphere and it's great for groups, because once the upstairs part is open there is quite a lot of space. The only downside is that they don't have any large screens so you can only watch the Rugby on the small screens. Also, the toilets are down some narrow stairs, which are hard to manouvre after a couple of pints. read more

I'm giving Sheehans a 5 stars based on the Bar Staff alone! We were looking for a more relaxed atmosphere and so when we walked in and didn't see seats down stairs on a Friday evening we were going to leave when the waitress said there is a bar area upstairs too. Go! Its pretty spacious and was quieter (more our style). We sat at the bar and drank for over 3 hours. Between the couple bartenders and the locals that stop in there we really found our spot. They were open to any questions we had and were so friendly. Really glad we stopped in! Felt like a true irish experience. read more

Looking for a late dinner, some friends and I found Sheehan's. The menu was a great example of Irish Pub Grub, too much to try on a single visit. We shared the fish and chips as an appetizer and it was outstanding. On our waitress's recommendation we had the Corned Beef and Cabbage, served over mashed potatoes with a creamy gravy. We tried the chicken wings, the Irish stew, lamb shank, and seafood chowder. The chicken wings were spicy and crispy and therefore recommended. The Irish stew was absolutely delicious as was the seafood stew. The lamb was perfectly cooked but everything, including the sides were under seasoned. The carrots were very mushy - like baby food. What an incredible find in Ireland! The most quaint and characteristic upstairs seating complete with Christmas decorations and candles. Great range of beers on tap and a delicious potato soup with bread for starter. Amazing! I was randomly watching vlogs on YouTube about Dublin and one of them featured this pub/restaurant. One of the vloggers had the coddle (i.e. Irish stew) and I knew I had to go. It is located right off of the busy Grafton Street, but it was fairly low key inside the pub. As soon as we got there I ordered the coddle and made sure that it came with some Irish brown bread. As expected, the stew was delicious. A nice broth, tender meat, and carrots, parsnips, and potatoes. As if that wasn't perfect enough, they top it off with a hearty dollop of mashed potatoes. Irish comfort food at its finest. The stew was something like €15, but it was worth every bit of the price. I had a cheaper version of the same thing elsewhere and it made me want to yack. Our waitress was really attentive and the kitchen staff got the food out fast and hot. Good selection of beer, with, of course, Guinness. Great place overall. read more

I find this to be a completely average pub in a stellar location, just off that street of all streets: Grafton Street. I dove in here to catch the Grand National once with some friends because we'd lost track of time elsewhere. There was no atmosphere really to speak of, but the staff were nice. To be honest you could do a lot better round here. If it's a pub you're looking for try Neary's across the street, now that's a traditional Dublin pub with an arm full of history for you. read more

What a great pub to stop in for a pint or two in the evening! It's a beautiful bar with a good amount of seating on the main floor (the only part open when I was here) for the size. The bar man always remembered what we had the time before and made a point to bring the drinks out to where we were sitting rather than making me stand up at the bar and wait. Really a great place to sit down and have a conversation with a friend or in a small group. Love this bar! Every time I come to Dublin I visit this bar. I brought my sister and her two kids there for dinner tonight.
