Walked in alone. Friendly staff, brought me some samples drinks and gave me recommendations. Seafood chowder is creamy and full of different ingredients; not salty at all, the fresh pea sprouts added a tinge of sweetness and different layers of flavor to the chowder. Like the chewy but flavorful House stout bread which comes with chowder. So surprisingly to have live music on site. The guitarist and his beautiful music is truly a plus to my Irish night pub experience.

Watched the Rugby game and the atmosphere was awesome. They have several levels with bars . Our server was spot on and the Guinness we perfect.

We were on a tour of Ireland and stopped by Sheehan's for our first dinner in Ireland. Beautiful building outside, it was what you want it to look like, when you walk inside. It was busy, as I assume it always is, but when I asked a server if there was seating downstairs, she was very abrupt and rude. She said there wasn't any tables available. We noticed a free table and another very nice server offered to clear it for us. He was very kind, but the original rude server took our order, she wasn't so bad as time went on. If she would've been nice, I would have given this a 5 star review. We ordered a pint and a Jameson and Ginger to drink and ordered dinner right away. We ordered a beef and Guinness pie and fish and chips. Both were delicious and we were very happy with our choices.

Amazing spot in downtown Dublin, second visit now on this trip. The beef pie was life changing! The setting is absolutely what you're looking for.

Visiting Ireland for the first time, I did my best to read up on good places to grab lunch/dinner in Dublin and Sheehan's Pub popped up on a few lists, Reddit posts, so I put it on my list to try and I'm glad I did! I walked in on a Wednesday evening, around 6:30pm, to a packed pub! Since it was only me, I was able to get a seat at the bar in the center. There were quite a few tables and I'm pretty sure there was more upstairs but they were packed so I was grateful for the spot at the end of the bar. Inside was clean, dark, and cozy with a couple TVs playing sports throughout. The young gentleman behind the bar that took care of me was accommodating and courteous, and did a nice job helping me decide what to order for dinner. I sipped on a "Clockwork Velvet Stout" from Changing Times Brewery and took in the ambiance as I waited for dinner. It took a bit for my meal to arrive but it was worth the wait. I ordered their Beef & Guinness Pie, which is slowly cooked prime Irish beef in a rich Guinness and vegetable sauce, topped with mashed potatoes and served with mint peas and a slice of brown bread. This was so delicious and hearty! The layer of mashed potatoes on top elevated the look of the dish and tasted great. The beef was incredibly tender and the sauce was excellent. The mint peas on the side were refreshing and the slice of brown bread was perfect to soak up every bit of that sauce. Sheehan's Pub was a solid spot. Even with how busy they were, the staff were courteous and the food they're serving up was delish and plentiful. If I come back to Dublin, I'd have no issue coming here for dinner and pint again!

Wonderful divey pub that played 80's top 40's the night we were there. First thing they do is make sure you have a drink. Love that! We ordered the Lamb Stew and the Fisherman's Pie. The Fisherman's pie was like the best ever New England chowder but with smoked fish and then covered with mashed potatoes and baked. Even the side order of mint peas (with a peppery touch) were excellent. The Lamb Stew was okay. Nothing exciting (if you have a picky eater, who likes lamb and potatoes, this would do the trick.) The bartenders were very attentive.

Food was very tasty and good value. Service excellent and bartender welcomes everyone and has good humour, great vibe and friendly atmosphere.

This was the best meal we had in Dublin! I ordered the seafood chowder and the fish and chips and my husband ordered the Guinness beef pie and the toastie with chips. We loved all of it. The seafood chowder was the best I've ever had it had big chucks of what looked like crap and fish so so good. Definitely will go back next time we visit.

3 of us shared the chicken shepherds pie and the Guinness beef shepherds pie plus an order of onion rings. OMG! Fantastic! Great service and cozy making our Sunday comfort food day perfect. We could t think of anything that could have been better!

Best potato soup ever, served with brown bread.

We had excellent service here and the place was packed! I wanted to come here so I could finally get authentic Irish fish & chips and it exceeded my expectations. Me and my fiancé both got the fish & chips and it was the perfect golden color and the chips were thick and soft in the middle, not crazy about mushy peas in the first place so I didn't really eat it. Surprisingly though the actual star of the meal was the potato soup I ordered as a starter! It was so good that I almost ordered another bowl but knew I wouldn't have room for my main meal and that's the one and only reason I didn't order more. I'm salivating now writing this review and thinking of that darn soup. Our server was amazing, very pleasant and attentive. Great spot/pub I recommend in Dublin.

Owned by the Sheehan family for generations, this pub is truly fantastic. The building goes back to 1840 with the beautiful hand carved bar being a highlight. The staff were so friendly and Mr Sheehan gave me a sample of a new beer which was launched today in Dublin. The potato soup and bread were some of the best I've had. I'm from Colorado in the USA and this pub is great!!!

In my last night in Dublin on a day where the sun blessed the sky and thoughts of upcoming St Patrick's Day celebrations were on my mind, I sought out a Traditional Irish pub of long standing near the Temple Bar area but not too touristy. The ambiance is in inviting end friendly from the downstairs pub to the upstairs dining, rich in pinned leather and dark wood, it all looked very comfortable place to hang out and near live music venues. The service was timely, engaged and with a pleasant demeanor, especially being that I am not a local and anti-American sentiment exists due to current changes in diplomacy. I had a side salad, then a Guinness which is always perfectly poured in Ireland as a point of National pride, and the corned beef and cabbage with parsley sauce. The sauce didn't sound great but I had not had my traditional meal at least annually of corned beef while in Ireland, but the sauce was really good and while the beef was a bit dry, the sauce made the dish so much better. This would be a great place for a large group or party and offered some large seating areas but with some seclusion as well as smaller tables together. A good meal and a good experience overall!

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.
