Very disappointed in my experience here. I am visiting from out of town and was looking forward to getting a haircut here - I got one back in 2018 when I last visited Austin and it was one of my best experiences ever. Things have changed. And sadly, it's not really due to the haircut itself. I walked into the shop and the girl behind the desk does not acknowledge me. It's not like she was busy or anything - she was just staring directly at me as if I was lost. I cheerily say hi - she continues to stare at me through her glasses. I say hi again, assuming she didn't hear me the first time but she just stares - I immediately felt uncomfortable and felt compelled to announce that I was there for my 11am appointment and that i was indeed in the right place. She is very clearly glaring at me now, finally acknowledges my presence, doesn't say hi, and checks me in. I felt unwelcome and uncomfortable until my barber arrived. I'm not sure why she had the attitude - maybe it's because of my skin color or that I'm clearly from out of town? Either way, we just need to treat all people with kindness. I wondered if maybe I was being overly sensitive or if this was in my head and this was just how she was - so I observed how she checked in other customers. but she was warm and welcoming to all of the other folks I saw come in. Said hi, smiled, welcomed them. Now I felt like a dark cloud was over me and I was clearly not imagining it. Not my best impression of Austin. Saddened and disappointed. My actual haircut with jace was alright. Good conversation and he was warm and welcoming, but He had the chair turned away from the mirror so I could not see how the haircut was progressing. Before I know it, he's putting product in my hair and I had to ask to see how my haircut actually looks before we start sending me away - he then finally shows me a mirror and I'm not happy with the sides, not much has changed and I had to tell him to take more off. He made some adjustments and it's alright but I'll probably fix it when I get home. Lastly, the staff here did not wear masks, even though they should be bc Austin is in stage 4. Total disregard for COVID-19 protocol. read more

I've heard a ton of great praise about Shed being one of the best barbershops for clean fades and fresh looks from my peers. Finally got to check it out conveniently now that my ride or die barber works there, Arthur. The shop was super, super crisp and a vibe with its open, spacious layout. I'm a huge fan of greenery which they had a bunch of (big ole fiddleleaf fig, vines on vines of pothos, other tropical accoutrements), spinning vinyl(stellar playlist) and the complimentary beverages (sparkling water, craft beers, and canned coffee with different flavors, coffee is way clutch). You can tell that they really care about atmosphere and quality. A-1. And Arthur is that DUDE. I followed him from the last shop he was cutting at and trust him with my hair more than anyone (I'm a curly haired musician, so my hair is not to be played with). He's incredibly attentive, focused, and passionate about making people look better than they came in. He understood the assignment of me wanting my hair to be "wild on top and suave on the sides" and his fade game is 9 out of 9. I feel instantly better after getting my mane tailored up. What can I say that haven't said before?? Shed Barbershop has been my go to barbershop for years!! I am very particular about who cuts my hair and how they are while making me look my best. Not everyone has that funky fresh touch. Many have come and gone and few have been worthy. Wow! That sounds like I'm a King. Haha!! Well, when it comes to your hair, if you take pride in how you look, then you want someone who is going to take pride in their work. These guys were rocking edge ups at the WhiskeyX event last night. What a nice surprise! I got there early and signed up, and 30 minutes later I was in the barber's chair getting a really nice edge up while sipping on delicious whiskey. I wish I could get a haircut in this environment all the time, listening to good music and people watching. The edge up was not rushed at all and it came out great, very well timed as I was due anyway. Will have to stop into the shop for a full cut sometime. read more

Only in Austin to do some contracting work at UT. Was in need of a cut. Had Korie as my stylist and she was awesome. Very nice and attentive. I've been to SHED 3 times now and have been super impressed each time. I've had 3 different barbers and have always walked away with not only a great experience but also an awesome haircuts. This time I got my hair cut by Korie, and it was the best of the 3 times. She was easy to talk to and engaged in our conversation. Not only did she gave me a great haircut but she talked me through why she was doing what she did and why it worked with my hair. I gave her a vague outline of what I thought should be done and she made me feel and look great. If you're not getting your haircut at SHED, you're not getting the best haircut in town! I've been seeing Michael for 5 years now and it's very difficult to find anyone else in Austin who can provide you the consistent level of service that the fine barbers at Shed provide me with time after time. I'll admit it, I have an odd shaped head and I trust no one else other than Michael to give me the perfect fade. I've referred all my buddies to Shed and I've heard nothing back positive feedback whether they go to Michael or any of the talented barbers at this location, or the one on South 1st. They are the most skilled and friendliest barbers in Austin! They quickly offer you a beer or two so you can unwind, while they work their art on your hair. You might just fall asleep on the chair after you kick back and drink one as they wrap a warm towel around your head as they finish the haircut. Don't feel embarrassed, I've done it one or twice now! While you're there, feel free to ask them about their wonderful haircare products and make sure to take some Uppercut Matt Pomade while you're there (it smells incredible and holds hair pretty well). My family and I moved to Austin from Jersey City, NJ in July. One of the few things I was concerned about was where I was going to get my hair cut. Even if my regular barber wasn't available back in NJ, I knew other barbers whom I can rely on for a cut in a pinch. It was never an issue to get fresh on a moments' notice. In Austin, I knew no one so I took to instagram and hopped from one barber-centric hashtag to the next with the hope that eventually that it would guide me to a shop with barbers that matched the skill and vibe that I'm accustomed to back home. Enter: SHED Barber and Supply. First off, I've never booked a haircut online so this was a great convenience for planning purposes. Second, the website provides a nice overview of the services they provide along with a bio for each barber. Finally, I read enough reviews to determine that every barber at SHED is pretty damn good. When I perused the schedule, I booked an appointment with Shantel who was the only barber available at the day and time I needed before a wedding I was set to attend. The results were outstanding. Shantel was great and had a great grasp of what I wanted and executed accordingly. Unfortunately, I also learned that she was relocating (womp) but again, you can't go wrong with anyone from the SHED crew. I had one last appointment with Shantel at the Holly location before she moved and then yesterday, I went to Justine and again, she too, hit it right out of the park. I wanted to go with a style that was a departure from how I've worn my hair for the past year. I didn't need to explain much and I was confident that Justine would be able to deliver. And she did. 4 months after moving here, I'm happy that I've found a barber shop I can call my own and I would recommend SHED to anyone looking to get fresh. I don't even know the chicks name who shaved my head. It was mostly on a whim that I decided my long locks of hair were yesterday's news; so without hesitation I headed to Sheds, both of my brothers and all of my male cousins come to the South Austin location while I went to Cesar Chavez, I should have followed foot because (while I did get it shaved off) she didn't "clean my kitchen" meaning there wasn't an edge up and the back of my neck is all hairy. I finally found the Mecca of hair. I have gone to so many places trying to find a quality barbershop / salon for more "complex" men's cuts. Typically, I would walk into a new location and be immediately dumbfounded that the individual cutting my hair would have no idea what certain cuts or hair products were. But, FINALLY, I found the right place. Justine cut my hair and was absolutely wonderful. She knew exactly what I wanted and even spent a good while chatting about what would work best for me and my hair routine. She was up to date with the latest hair products / styles and even suggested new things for me to try out. I couldn't be happier. I'm excited to keep coming back and perfecting the hair style I'm looking for. Getting my hair cut has always been very stressful for me because I've never found a single location or individual who would actually listen to me and make sure I walked out happy. I love this place. Justine was awesome, today was my first time at this location and first time with Justine, I rebooked with her before leaving. I won't be going anywhere else. I drove 60 miles to make my appointment and it was totally worth it. After one too many mediocre experiences with a straight-razor shave at Finley's and others, I was looking for another option and SHED popped up in my search results. I made a same-day appointment online, and was in the chair a few hours later with Michael, who I found out is part-owner of the two SHED locations. Hands-down, Michael gave me the best shave I've ever had. In the past, I'd experienced nicks, cuts, and heavy irritation from a shave, and I thought it might just be 'my face.' Not so with Michael! The shave is tight and with far less of the skin irritation I'd been so used to in the past. Recently, my husband and I got haircuts (and shaves) from Michael before our wedding. My husband has been searching for a great fade for over a year after his usual barber moved out of state. I'm happy to say that he's finally found what he's looking for. He and I both looked great at our wedding, and have been back since. We're both super-pleased with Michael's talent and the easy-going atmosphere he creates in his shop. It'd be criminal if I didn't mention the "supply" part of the name. Best band of barbers in town. Book ahead online (super quick and easy) because they're busy for a reason. Super chill vibes, excellent tunes, cool kid gear for sale in the front. Chachi gave me a sick undercut and evened out the unruly cascading waterfall I had allowed to accumulate on my head. He confidently came up with a dope clean concept with very little direction; it was exactly what I wanted. Worked quickly and narrated each step of the process so I knew exactly what was going on throughout the cut. Dudes (and ladydudes) are straight murdering the hair game. I went today and liked my short hair cut although didn't feel comfortable in the space. As a presenting femme of color , my hair stylist made me feel she didn't want to cut my hair. First she told me she had to charge more because my hair is longer than usual, then she told me it was going to take her longer, like an hour and that she needed to let know people because her schedule would be affected.At some point while she was cutting my hair I showed her two pics of possibilities for my hair and she replied "ot be honest it has been a while since I don't do a woman's haircut, so you can make your decision". I felt her attitude rude, plus to be honest, a head with long or short hair has no gender so I didnt understand her answer. I asked her what was the difference between a "woman" and "a man" haircut, yeah, in gender binary terms apparently. She replied "it takes longer because of the style, here we do shorter". So yeah. I didn't feel welcomed in the space. And don't get me wrong, i liked the final result of my haircut, but the service is also making you feel welcome as a client. I feel the store needs some gender non binary inclusivity. I personally will not go back :( read more

Jenna is great! Shed has been in my neighborhood for a bit and wanted to try out a new place for a haircut so I thought I'd give them a try. They're within walking distance for me so it's super convenient. My first cut was done by Jenna. She's very thorough and did a great job. I was super pleased with the cut. I went to another place in the interim and was less than impressed with the cut I got. As soon as I could I scheduled for another cut specifically asking for Jenna and was not disappointed. She has actual barber training (which I figured with the way she cuts hair) which you don't always get at "barber shops". Instead I got a very condescending line of questions and confrontational attitude. I completely understand that a good barber needs to know exactly what you want.
