On May 16, I was in town from Northern MN for a family wedding. I decided to treat myself to a…read moremanicure. Now, I have not had a manicure at least since before the pandemic. After doing some Internet research, I decided to book an appointment with SahLan Nails and Spa. I was greeted by a very nice receptionist and she showed me where I needed to put my shoes and to put on sandals they provided as they wanted to keep the main part of the salon really clean. She showed me my options for nail color. Now for someone who has not been in a nail salon for years, it was extremely overwhelming and unbelievable. Tiffany P was my manicurist and I have to say my experience, hands-down, was the best I have ever had. Tiffany heard me talking with the receptionist about OPI and we decided on a lovely bright red. Tiffany explained to me the difference between a manicure I would normally get and a gel manicure. Tiffany told me that when I walked out of the salon, my nails would be completely dry. I was sold on trying a gel manicure! The spa music was relaxing and Tiffany was so nice, outgoing and friendly. She was professional and performed her magic doing my manicure. It was like a miracle! It was hard for me to believe my nails would be dry but Tiffany made a believer out of me. It is now June 1, my nails look as beautiful as the day I left the salon other than they have grown out. My family is getting tired of me telling them how beautiful my manicure looks. If only I lived in Eau Claire, I would be going back to Tiffany, as Tiffany calls it: maintenance not luxury! I highly recommend SahLan Nails and Tiffany! Next week, I head to Lincoln, NE for another wedding, another manicure at a "new to me" salon. I hope I receive the same professionalism, experience, and service as I did at SahLan Nails.

No massage. NOTHING. They then charged me $41. Just to cut my nails. NEVER AGAIN.

I want her to know as a customer she was not an inconvenience nor in the wrong. I don't know if the worker was having a bad day, a breakup, or a headache, but either way there was no reason to act the way she did, when all that was wanted done was polish removal and paint. "I Whip My Hair Back and Forth"…read more It was the call that every woman fears with every hair fiber of her being. The thing we dread more than accidentally flashing our Spanx when getting out of a car. My favorite stylist had LEFT MY SALON (cue my internal voice yelling, "Nooooooooooooo", slo-mo, Incredible Hulk style)!! But completely meltdown was averted-- she had thankfully just moved to another fabulous salon in Red Wing that had newly opened, River Blu Salon Dayspa. I would follow my hair whisperer anywhere, but I was so glad I only had to follow her to another building in Red Wing. While we have several wonderful salons in Red Wing, you will think you've curled up, "dyed" and gone to "hairven" when you walk into River Blu. The décor in this upscale establishment is so gorgeous and serene that it bumps this spa head and shoulders above the rest of the salons in Red Wing. Located on the first floor of the historic and beautiful St. James Hotel on Main Street, the spa holds cozy relaxation/waiting lounges within, as well as fireplaces, chandeliers, a mani/pedi room and massage room that all bring to mind words like "glam", "relaxing", "modern" and "earthy". Glamodern Rearthy? Glamaxing Mearthy? Word shipping not for you? Either way, you'll feel pampered...and that's before your transformation has even begun! If you've never been to this salon, you need not worry about which stylist to go to. No matter who works their magic on the lifeless, split-end-infested hair you walked in with, you will leave with a mane that you want to toss around like you're in a Pantene commercial. The salon also takes care of your inner beauty by making sure that the products they use, such as Intelligent Nutrients and Jane Iredahl, are non-toxic and natural.
