I'd say this is a strictly "Men only" shop. Went in with my 1.5-yr-old son for his haircut and…read morewanted a simple buzz. Asked if the barber did children and he said "Yes", so we waited our turn. Got into the chair and all was looking good. The clippers the barber had were SO quiet, I was getting excited, thinking my kiddo wouldn't be afraid because he doesn't like that noise right by his ear. Well, then the barber busted out a LOUD clipper (not sure why he switched? The other one seemed to be working just fine...) and that set everything off. From there, it was all downhill... - The booster seat slipped TWICE during the haircut. - The barber didn't use length attachments on his clippers, so he was going so SLOW using a comb, his fingers, and alternating between the two clippers and scissors. - I kept saying my son didn't like the loud clippers, yet he continued to use them, and many times right by his ears. - The haircut itself was crooked and a mess and not worth the $10 we paid. By the end of this long process, my son was crying, we were BOTH covered in hair, and I was clinging to the chair to both keep him from falling (again) and to snuggle him to keep him from having a complete meltdown. The barber didn't seem to care to speed up the process at all, instead just pondered "Why don't kids like their hair cut?" Like, Geez, dude. I dunno. I would have done an equal job of the haircut at home in five minutes with less crying. I'm sure it's a fine place for grown men to go and have a haircut, but don't go for kids. This fellow doesn't have a good bedside manner for children. He also spoke about my son as if he wasn't there. It was weird and made me feel uncomfortable, because I genuinely thought the barber was talking about some other guy, outside the room, when he referred to my son as "That guy" or "This guy" (i.e. "I thought that guy was a tough guy?" in reference to him crying.) PS: He also wanted to gossip about his other customers while we were in there and I was not into that. I don't need to wonder if everyone who goes in there after me will know all the details of my experience or whatnot. If this is what "old fashioned" means, that's a hard NO, THANKS, from me.
