It could be because most of the hairdressers' haven't any clue how to create or style. I have been going to Le Toile for many years and Stephen B. was cutting my hair. He and many of the hairdressers in that shop are decent hairdressers. Stephen was excellent. However, he had a severe accident and will not be working there anytime soon. LeToile has had a new regime takeover because the two men who owned the shop for many years sold it to a few employees who worked there. The one woman is a bit off kilter and if she doesn't like the customer she has them thrown out of the shop. That is what happened to me. The reason being was because I have canceled appointments and rescheduled in the past. I have always made sure I canceled within the time frame requested. The one owner sent one of their worker's out to the parking lot telling me to come back into the shop for my appointment. I told the girl that is not possible after such poor treatment. LeToile is in Montgomery County/ Jenkintown, PA. It appears most of these shops think they are top notch hairdressers in the Bucks County area. They surely are not.

What made it worse was being quoted one price beforehand, then being told at checkout it would be over $300 until I challenged it and pointed out the original quote. That felt misleading and very uncomfortable. The appointment also took an excessively long time and felt messy and unprofessional, with foils falling out and bleach splattering on me. During the process, I repeatedly pointed out that the bleaching looked uneven, but I was reassured toner would fix it and it would turn out fine. It did not. I was very upset with the result and cried when I got home. What was especially frustrating was being told before the service was even underway that for my hair to "look good," I would need to pay around $600, which felt shocking and unreasonable. I declined. When I got home, I contacted them again about the result and was only offered a consultation to come back in. It felt unempathetic and seemed like I would need to spend hundreds more again just to make my hair presentable. I ended up going to a different salon the next day to have it corrected, and they were visibly shocked by the condition of the bleach job, especially in the back where I hadn't been able to see how uneven it was. I told the new salon I had a budget, and they worked within it and put in a lot of effort to correct the color and make it presentable again. I've had my roots done at other salons for much less, with significantly better results. I expected transparency, professionalism, and quality, and unfortunately did not receive any of those here.

The owner did a great job, she is very knowledgable and has over 20 years experience. She was able to answer any question I had, she also threw in a free cut to trim my ends. I came back here today to get a set of highlights. It was only $60 for half a head of highlights. She uses quality products and my hair always feels and looks great. I'll be coming back when I need to get another set :-). I'll post a picture of the highlights soon!

A little background…read more I have had been going to the same barber/stylist shop for more than 40 years (since I was a teenager). Over that time, two of the guys have cut my hair. Recently my guy, that has been cutting my hair for the last 15 years, has had some back problems and has reduced his hours, so I needed to find a new shop. Did a local search and came across Distinguished Image and read some of the reviews, and decided to give Christine and her shop a try. It was also a benefit because she is much closer to home (Hatfield) vs me driving 40 minutes to King of Prussia every 4 weeks. Very simply, I am extremely pleased with the cut I got yesterday. I waited till this morning to post my review, just to see how I felt a day later. Christine listened to my concerns (about changing "barbers") and did a great job not just cutting my hair but also in making me feel comfortable and confident with her work. Also, the price is very fair and she was able to get me in with just a days notice. If you are looking for a new shop, for whatever reason, do your self a favor and get to Distinguished Image.
