Hi! I'm new to the area. I badly needed a trim. I liked the reviews on here so I gave them a call. They said they could fit me in that same day! When I went Jada took care of me. She asked me nicely if I'd like her to help me fix the color of my hair at a reasonable price. She told me the exact cost up front of what everything would be so no mysteries or surprises there! I had really long hair and been going there for trims for a year to the same hairdresser. decided to go short but with very long layers. Did not get that and I'm so upset. I showed the picture over and over and still got really short hair. Maria always did exactly what I wanted with my hair and she is just one of the sweetest people. She really takes interest in her clients. Worse hair color ever And was charged enough for two. Showed a specific photo of the desired color. every time I've had that color done before, it was achieved with simple highlight and low lights. ash blonde low lights with platinum blonde highlights. My natural hair color is dirty dishwater blonde... very close to ash blonde. The hair stylist COLORED MY ROOTS DARK BROWN - ALMOST BLACK!!! There is a very clear 1.5" of dark roots before the blonde highlights even start. So it looks like it has been 6-8 weeks since I had highlights and it has grown out... showing dark roots (who I do NOT have naturally dark hair) instead of stepping fresh out of the salon. The left side of my head is fairly blonde, but the right side has HUGE spots of dark brown. From the face to the ear, I have 3" of super dark brown hair while the left side of my head is blonde. She got hair color all over my forehead, cheeks and face that had to be scrubbed off over three washings. I left the salon looking like I let a 6-year old kid with some store bought hair color On my head. And the worse part???? I have been going to Shear Design Salon since they opened. Maria use to do my hair and is an excellent hair dresser and a lovely person. However, for the last 5 years or so I've been going to Nancy. First of all Nancy is very sweet and personable. About her work, Nancy is a genius with color. I tell her what I want and she does exactly what I want every time. She also cuts my hair perfect. She knows what style looks best on me and I trust her to just let her do her thing. It took me years to find someone that I wasn't sweating bullets while they were cutting my hair not knowing what the outcome would be. Every time she highlights my hair I get so many compliments, especially from my husband. The products they use are very nice. I have a friend who will always ask me if I just got my hair done even when I'm between appointments because my hair just stays so pretty and fresh looking. I totally recommend Shear Design Salon. Having moved here from New Orleans I didn't know where to go to keep up my highlights. So I got on yelp and started reading reviews and found this salon. I went in as a walk in and was tended to right away. The salon was clean, organized and nicely decorated. Everything looked new and very well maintained. Stephanie was my stylist and how NICE to have a fellow Louisianan do my hair! She was friendly and obviously knowledgeable about color. So I showed her the pic I brought and let her do her thing. The results were beyond what I expected! The highlights came out uniform from root to tip and the brassiness is gone. I love the color and my already very dry hair didn't have hardly any damage so it's actually smoother now than it was walking in. Their prices are very reasonable and I'm so glad I yelped first. Now I only drive 30 minutes instead of the hour and a half back to my stylist in the city. GREAT JOB read more

Maria is amazing!!! She did my color over for work and did my hair for graduation. Not only is my hair great every time but they also color hair for unnatural colors too which for someone who so often colors her hair unnatural colors, loves! Especially when it's such healthy products. 4 TV's even one for cartoons for kids. Nail salon too! They really talk to you and make sure you are okay with it and look your best. They make you feel so open and friendly. I love it. Definitely recommend. The prices are good too! read more

I got my hair and make up done here while in town for a wedding. Both looked absolutely fantastic and I couldn't believe what she was able to do with my hair in so little time. First time I've ever left a review anywhere, but I was bothered by the dishonesty of their pricing. Advertised everywhere on their windows & price board is kids cuts $12. When we went to pay they said $25. When I questioned them the receptionist got the stylist who curtly said since she had her hair washed and blown dry it was $25 & then walked away. I double checked their price board & no where on there does it mention this. She did ask if I wanted my daughters hair washed & I said yes, but I was not asked if I wanted her hair dried and at no point was it mentioned to me that the price more than doubled with a wash & dry. read more

We chose this place after reading reviews many places. We did not have the same experience. The shoulder legth, layered trim my daughter asked for somehow ended up being a chin length bob. The stylist immediately cut it too short so there was nothing to do to make the cut better. Another stylist even commented on how much hair she cut off. Anytime a comment was made about the cut she very oddly changed the conversation to how much she wanted dinner rolls. Even when she walked out for us to pay she commented to someone else about how much she wanted dinner rolls. I feel like this is code for I really messed up a haircut and I don't know what to do. Since it wasn't the same cut at all and it was cute, I thought my daughter had changed her mind and got a different cut. She told me she was happy with it so I paid. I even made an appointment for myself. When we got out the door she started crying and told me she didn't say anything because she didn't want the lady cutting her hair anymore since she'd already done such a poor job. She hadn't changed her mind, the stylist just hadn't listened to her at all. I feel like this stylist probably only knows how to do one haircut and that is the chin length bob that my daughter did not ask for.
