I am so upset .. worst haircut I ever got in this place. Even though after showing a pic about what I want the lady fadia mess my hair..it's is so short now that I can't even fix it with any other hair stylist cz my hair is only 2 inch long now. That how short she made my hair.. even the first thing I told her I want some layers but I don't want my hair short. She didn't make any layers but she cut it too short. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! Upon spending hundreds of dollars and three total sittings in Michelle, the OWNER'S, chair, my daughter's hair looked atrocious after what should have been a simple extension application. Subpar application and clear lack of experience was the problem in our particular experience. The quality of the synthetic hair (that was promised to be quality, human hair) was pathetic and cheap. After complaining and asking for Michelle to "fix" the damage done, we tried rescheduling more than SIX times over about a month (dad was sick, Michelle was sick twice herself, son's daughter was in hospital, etc.) before we finally asked for a refund. My daughter was denied a refund and left with a bevy of excuses. I have tried going by the salon on several occasions and it was empty with the doors locked and no staff during normal business hours. I will now be paying a TRUE professional just to remove the hair Michelle put in incorrectly, and now my daughter has spent hundreds of dollars to be left disappointed and saddened. This salon is a joke and I implore you not to waste your time, money, or expectations. This place needs to be avoided. Took my son and I here for a simple comb over taper haircut a d ended up getting a bowl cut for $25 each. The lady said she didn't have the tools to blend the hair in and when questioned, she really didn't even know what it was I was trying to get. I couldn't even stop my son from getting the same bowl cut because we were getting it cut by 2 different "stylists" at the same time. Avoid avoid avoid! read more

Went to take my client in for a haircut and i had been busy with all the Christmas scurrying that I didn't get to go to my regular brow lady. So I decided well I think I'll just get a quick brow wax before I leave for family vacation in two days. I thought WRONG the lady didn't know what she was doing! She burned my eye brows then didn't even put on the after slave they usually do to help the burn. Several of my family members have attempted to patronize this salon because at first the people seem nice. Erica is a hair stylist who doesn't show up for appointments. Other stylists are consistently late or don't show up at all. The color, cuts and styling are rushed and sub-par. Michelle, the owner, makes excuses for her staff and doesn't seem concerned. And she's rude. The cheap price is representative of the lack of talent the stylists have and the availability of appointments demonstrates the appropriately diminishing clientele. I have never gone back to the same hairdresser more than once, until I came to Shear Cuts. Not going to name names but I went to a lady there and was very sweet and added me in last second BUT she did a terrible job. I asked to go golden blonde and I now look like Ronald McDonald!!! I also got a 'hair cut' which looks so choppy. I've been to beauty schools and gotten better hair cuts and dye jobs. I'm going to go back so someone can hopefully fix it but after that I wont ever go back. I was always told spend the money on dye jobs and highlights and now i know why! read more

I am very disappointed to how my hair turned out when I left here. So I went in with no appointment to get my hair cut and colored because it was like fifty shades of red and the lady who said she would take care of me was nice at first but then it just turned into a crazy mess. As she sat me in my chair I asked her " so how long have you been doing hair?" She replied "17 years" so I gave her the benefit of the doubt to do my hair. Man is that where u went wrong. So I asked for a mocha brown with a reddish tint to it and that's kind of what I got but more of a dark black color to it. I walked in this place in desperate need of a haircut with someone who could cut wavy to curly hair (they're really hard to find). I waited a while but I was expecting that since I just walked in. Sue did an excellent job trimming all the dead ends off while keeping my long layers so my curls can work. I also wanted to change my part and she cut it so I could wear it on either side! I spent 3 years trying to find a great hair stylist when I moved to Rohnert Park....I finally gave up and decided that I needed to travel to a more upscale area if I wanted an amazing cut for my curly hair. But paying $100 a cut became too big a burden and so I finally took my husband's advice and gave his hair dresser a try. Michelle, who very recently took over Shear Cuts, is absolutely fabulous. I "discovered"" her at a different location and then followed her to Shear Cuts. She is consistently amazing. I always walk out with a gorgeous cut and am so grateful to have found her. I can go anywhere. I have long thick hair and have had my hair trashed more times than I can count at high end salons. I work for myself and four hours in the chair to not leave with the results i had wished for is four hours of unbillable hours on top of the cost of the treatment. I moved to this area and while Michelle is a ways away, I would fly her to me or drive to her from now on. These negative reviewers need to be sued. I know the back story. She is overly kind and generous and she needs to charge a lot more! If you want a posh spa like experience this is not it. I'm in and out for color/cut/blowout in 1 1/4 hours. I have work and life to get back to. Michelle is a saint and extends unrealistic rates to everyone and also to help local college students maintain their hair. I can't vouch for anyone else in the salons work but I will keep Michelle as my hairdresser and new dear friend for as long as she'll have me! If you are a jerk and someone who tries to take advantage, take yourself elsewhere. Show up, be specific, communicate your thoughts and you will be rewarded. Trust that. read more

I took my 7 year old daughter there for a hair cut last Monday and it was such an all around horrible experience. First off the lady kept complaining about how one person called in and then the other, a girl named Erica, just didn't show up and...yada yada yada. She even got on the phone at one point to complain, as myself and 4 other people, waiting sat and listened to her whine about it for about 10 minutes. The woman that cut my daughters hair did a great job on the mens cuts but my daughter got out of the chair looking like a lop-sided ball of frizz. We walked outside and she burst into tears. I took a look at the cut and it was so uneven and crazy it looked like I myself had done it. (Not pretty) Funny enough once my daughter got out of the chair the hairdresser said just come back tomorrow and we will trim it up for free, and I would have styled it but I have no time... I guess that's Erica's fault for not showing up, and sure lady we'll be back tomorrow so you can do then what I expected and paid for today. Anyways long story short we ended up having to go get her hair fixed and will never be back to Shear Cuts again, unless it's for my refund. read more

I'd like to start by saying that Shear Cuts has new ownership, so the two previous negative reviews do not reflect ownership by Michele. I have been getting my hair styled and colored by Michele for the past three years, and I followed her to her new salon here at Shear Cuts. I can't speak for the other stylists in her salon as Michele is the only one that cuts my hair. She also cuts my grand daughters hair and she too only trusts Michele to cut her hair. Michele is very professional at what she does, respectful , courteous, and reasonably priced. She always asks if I want any changes in color, highlights or style and does a fantastic job. I've never had as many compliments on how nice my hair looks as I do now since Michele started styling my hair. I refer all of my friends and co-workers to Michele's salon. If you're looking for a new stylist and you want a fantastic cut, new style, or color, I would recommend Michele. You will not leave her salon disappointed. read more

Sue gave me a perm that burned my scalp and fried my hair after telling me she was the queen of perms. I had explained my previous bad experiences and she assured me she'd take great care of me. The product used was cheap and three weeks later my scalp is still itchy and peeling from the chemical burn. When I contacted Sue for a refund she never even bothered to respond. The rest of the women in the salon were very unwelcoming. This place is a low budget, attitude filled hack shop. If you care about your hair and want good results pay the extra money and DO NOT go here!!!! read more

YES! YES! YES!!! Highly recommend!!! This salon has changed drastically, from their customer service to the clean and trendy set up. I have to say the atmosphere is wonderful and relaxing. The great thing too is you can just walk in without an appointment! I was surprised by the other reviews. I have been here twice and both times got a fantastic cut from Suzanne. There is little or no waiting. Suzanne listened to what I wanted and did it exactly right. I have received more compliments about the hair cuts I received from Shear cuts than from other salons that charged WAY more money. Unbelievable experience. I went in for a very minor bang trim in between hair cuts. The woman who cut my hair who I think is the owner appeared to understand exactly what I wanted. She started by squirting me in the face with cold water and I closed my eyes for a few seconds and when I opened them my bangs were about 1 inch long. UNBELIEVABLE butcher job! They get 0 stars. First, it is so unprofessional in there. Hair techs bring their young kids in there while working and just let them run around. When you first walk in, everyone who works there just stares at you.. Not a great environment. Wont call out who did my hair, but did she just get out of school? One of the westexperiences ever! My highlights nitonly took 3 hours, they cane out looking like a orange. No amount of toner was going to change that. After she panicked and tried to correct the impossible for her, as the owner just stood there watching the whole time and never tried to step in and suggest something, anything! I finally said enough! I had to leave the shop wet unfinished orange streaked hair. Not my hair tech or the owner even said sorry, come back, let us fix it. Horrible and unprofessional!!! Went to shear cuts this morning to find that the original owner is back!! Thank you Michelle for buying back the salon. Walked in to the beautiful, clean salon it once was. It was refreshing to see old familiar faces come back to the salon. Reading all the bad reviews won't help you if you're trying to make a decision on where to go. Go in and give it another try. The worst haircut my boyfriend has ever gotten!! If I could give negative stars I would. The woman, Susan, who cut his hair asked him to scoot down because he was too tall and the chair wouldn't go any lower. As a result she cut his hair line over an inch too high because he wasn't sitting up straight! On top of that, she didn't even offer to show him the back. He got up to pay and she swiped his card and wished him well, like she was rushing him off. That was when he showed me his hair and when he turned around I almost started to cry it was so ugly! Not only was the hairline too high, it was completely blunt line. No transition, no blending! The other stylist tried to fix the haircut, but there wasn't much she could to to salvage it. I could not believe how hideous the haircut was, and how shocked Susan was that we were unhappy despite the other stylist admitting that Susan had messed up. read more

On a whim to do something different ( and not having done anything since a bad haircut nearly 7yrs ago) i called Ashley at Shear cuts on a recommendation of my sister in law. I was surprised she was able to get me in the next day. We looked at pics, told me which of my ideas she thought would look good and which ones just would not work and started. An hour later?! WOW!!! I love my new color...it is to the T what i wanted. After first coat she thought i may freak at the dramatic difference at the roots and toned it down before i could be shocked...the end product is perfection. Horrible Horrible Horrible!!!! I have never known any women that has gone there and left happy. I went, and much to my surprise one side of my hair was right below my chin and the other side was down passed my shoulders. I went with my friend today ( I tried to talk her out of it!) she asked for a trim and layers around the face. She left with barely a trim and bowl cut looking bangs and no layers. She went back later in the afternoon to have it fixed, and its even worse! Sad to say it looks like she has the start of a horrible mullet. The first "hair dresser" Karen ( not sure if that's her name) attempted to dry her hair using a "round brush" that looked like it was older then her and from the dollar store. Used to be a good place to go. The last 3 times i went there they closed early. The hours say until 6pm but they leave anywhere from 5 to 5:45pm. Last time the lady there said they were closed at 5:40pm when i walked in and wasn't willing to give me a haircut. She wanted to leave early. Not a good way to run a business.
