At home my best friend was my stylist, so some high expectations ;) Located on R street, I was lucky to meet my stylist Jack as he was walking by my work. Jack did some fantastic color work, hair cut and blow out for me. He is super patient and provides an excellent consult to to fully understand your wants plus to manage your expectations. He is also very careful to maintain the integrity of your hair. My hair turned out beautifully. Pop colors are super challenging especially grays. I have gorgeous steely dark blue hair complemented by a VS model style blow out. Thanks Jack! Can't wait til next time. PS. the shop dog Junebug is ADORABLE

Now let's get to the good stuff, after 3 trails for an up do with a few well known stylist, I finally knew I should meet Marci. I went in for a brief consult where we chatted about my vision and I left feeling pumped and inspired. She is truly an artist and has a way of sculpting hair. My wedding hair the day of was even better then I could imagine it was celebrity status! I can't wait to find a reason to come in for another up do. Best part yet was I told her to create what she thought would look best and it was over the top! I loved her so much that I took myself and my mom for a haircut and of course the blew me away as well! Over all any brides out there just stop going to trials and just book marci already!

I love going to Amithyst. For years I struggled to find someone who could cut my thick, wavy,…read moresometimes course, and frizzy hair. I went to many places, and had not so great results. Once during a haircut the guy (at a well reputed salon) literally stepped back and said mid haircut ("I don't know what I'm doing here"). I started to feel like I was doomed to a life of weird cuts due to my wild hair, and I shed my fair share of post salon tears. Then I met Amithyst. She explained to me that my hair is essentially a bunch of cowlicks, meaning the curls and waves are basically a haphazard mess with no rhyme or reason. She gets my hair, and is the only hairdresser that never pressures me into unwanted services. She also cuts my sisters corkscrew wild curls and they always come out looking great. This girl is not afraid to tackle curls, waves and tame your unruly hair. I love it! She recently suggested the defrizz treatment which I tried today and love it. She really listens to what you want, and is realistic when you show her pictures of your fantasy hairstyles that may not work for your hair type. And then she does her own take on what you want and you wind up looking and feeling great. Stoked on my haircut today. I always leave feeling so good that I have to call a friend and hit the town post haircut. Thanks Amithyst! You're the best! Wish I was a selfie queen so I could do my haircut justice.
