This salon is top notch! I went there today for the first time and I had Christy Rawls as my stylist. I love her! She listens and gives you feed back , which is very important to me. Her talent as a stylist is exceptional! The ambiance of the salon is very relaxing yet very professional. I would recommend this salon to everyone. Not to mention, very affordable. If you're on the fence as to where to go....... this is the BEST! Christy won't disappoint you. Vickie C. From Harvest read more

I have been contemplating writing a review for some time... and I just can't let it go. I don't want someone else's hair ruined. I went to get a curly cut almost 2 months ago from Diana. I was specific with what I wanted and didn't want; unsure I'd love the reference photos I took in because my hair has a wavier beach texture and a tighter curly texture the longer it gets, but we talked about it and I thought we were on the same page. I was wrong. I had gone in with mid back, cut straight across hair (very beautiful curls). Wanted some layers and softer U shape... left with.... A tragedy. I had been growing my hair out for 2-3 years at that point, trying to get its length and thickness back to where it was before a bad haircut and home dye job prior. Diana had cut my hair last at Shear and I remember leaving happy enough with it the first time, so I figured I'd give it another try. I wasn't looking for anything dramatically different anyways- I was in love with the length and thickness- just wanted some blunter cut layers and a little shape... nothing thinned or super short. In fact, I even make sure to mention how I wear my hair normally (with no heat, just product, brush, air dry), often in a bun, and with all hair tucked away seeing as I have a baby under the age of 1. she went for it. Between talks and the fear of being a picky client, i let her take off with confidence. Toward the ends of the dry cut, nothing felt too different... until we washed and dried. I stood up to go the wash bowl and SO much of my thick curly hair was left on the floor. I panicked, and tried to play it cool, keeping conversation, laughing, and talking myself into loving it the whole time it dried. I stood up to go and said I loved it, hoping I did... paid, left, and cried. I got home a few hours later, and wept. Seriously. I had spent so long trying to grow my hair out and loved it, but wanted to just add a little life and instead I left with a short layered shag. Ends extremely thin, curtain bangs-esq that were very uneven and almost inverted in their cut... and so much of my gorgeously thick hair was left a memory. The cut, plus two products I grabbed ended up costing me nearly $200. This was my first treat to myself post-partem and I was really heart broken. I called the salon to tell them how I felt, and they told me there really wasn't anything they could do. I knew that, but I was hopeful they'd try? They told me it wasn't like they could do much since it was shorter than wanted and overly layered, but if I had a suggestion to let them know... that was nice, but didn't change the fact that my curly pattern in the front where my bangs got chopped STILL hasn't returned to "normal" post curl-shock, or that my heart was so broken for all the time and care I had put into my hair the last few years. I wouldn't recommend going here unless you know exactly what you want, and don't care much about results. - as kind as possible. read more

Do not recommend this salon. Appointment rushed, hair not cut even, stylist dismissive and was not valued as a customer.

Sierra did an amazing job on my cut and style. Highly recommend! I'm going back to her for a color in 2 weeks and really looking forward to it! read more

Cute Salon, seems to be alot of artists I sat with Chika today and she was very nice and kept asking me if I liked my hair. She did a cut for me and a cut for my boyfriend I got a wash and our total was $72 read more

Great hair cut by Stacy!!! Very nice salon in a good location. Highly recommend!!!!!!

I got a haircut yesterday at Great Clips and they did a horrible job so I came in to Shear Artistry today to get it fixed. I showed Mrs. Chica a photo and she did an amazing job and somehow managed to make my hair even better then the photo. The cut itself was only $30 and it was definitely worth it because it was perfect and extremely trendy. I've never gotten a haircut in America until this week and this was definitely a Tokyo level haircut. I am extremely happy and this will be my hair salon from now on. I definitely suggest this place especially if you are picky on your looks. This is the place! read more

Kendall does an amazing job coloring and styling my hair! The entire salon is very professionally run. Highly recommend!

I am a hairstylist working at this salon. The salon is very clean and the atmosphere is very cozy and friendly. Some of the stations are divided by partitions which provides privacy. As soon as you step in, you'd be welcomed by our receptionist Angi's smile and you'd be offered a beverage. This salon is owned by Stacey who's been running her salon for 15 successful years. And she continues to serve her guests with her 25+ year expertise during the week. We are full service salon of all things hair including Deva Curl haircut and style, special occasion hair & makeup, aesthetic service, and mani/pedi services. Our prices are set moderately. I enjoy working here and if you're new in town, you'll find us salon home. Come see us!! ‍ read more

I came as a walk-in, needed to change my color from mostly light brown back to my natural color black, and also get a trim. The waiting time was maybe 5 minutes and it was easy to register as a new customer. I love my new look, and it was very reasonably priced compared to places such as Ulta, which overcharge for sometimes bad service. I also got a trim, and my stylist recommended I get long layers to reduce heaviness/stiffness in my look. Good advice, my hair looks great! Very good service, reasonably price, and I got the results I wanted. read more

I am going to preface this by saying I have curly hair. I say this because it has been hard to trust people to cut my curly hair, and I have received several bad haircuts in my life. This was not one of them. Rachael Thompson was the woman who cut my curly hair to perfection. I went from long, middle of my back hair, to a short bob. Every 2-3 years I cut my hair and donate it. If I had known about Rachael and Shear Artistry before I would have gone and gotten a trim much sooner. It was easy to make an appointment, Rachael was super nice, and she listened to what I was looking for. I didn't go in with pictures or ideas because people really just need to see your curly hair to know what to do with it, and I've been told by other stylists to NOT cut my hair short, instead of having them listen to me. Rachael listened to me, listened to my ideas, and listened after I told her I was donating my hair. If you have curly hair, and have doubt or are having trouble finding someone to cut your curly hair, go see Rachael Thompson at Shear Artistry. read more

What a great salon! I called this week to make an appointment for a cut and color, plus an eyebrow wax and possibly a few other services. They were able to get me in the same week, and they did not disappoint! My stylist, Rachel, was super sweet and did my hair exactly like I had described. She was extremely knowledgeable and talented. Two thumbs up! read more

I'm updating my review because Mari is no longer at Shear Artistry. She now has her own place called Ceranity Wax & Skin and its at 7696 Hwy 72 W., studio 6, Madison AL 35757. I stopped by her new spot for a waxing a few weeks ago and it's very nice and cozy. As before she did a great job with the waxing! read more

I gave this place a 3 star because it wasn't good but it wasn't bad. I'm new to the area and my 2 girls needed a haircut. They had Emily. She was not warm at all. Especially from the moment we met her. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day. But it reflected her mood and her work on my girls. Never again! I feel so bad for my girls that I told them to not worry and their hair will grow back. I'm in need of a haircut and I won't be coming here. I'll be looking for another place. read more

This was my first visit to the salon. I am so impressed with the professionalism and how welcoming everyone was. My stylist was Kala. She was incredibly nice and listened to my ideas about the hairstyle I wanted. She offered advice and how to maintain my new style. I would wholeheartedly recommend Shear Artistry and Kala to my friends and relatives. read more

Went to Chika for haircut and style my hair for the first time today. I absolutely love her! The main thing was she listened and did exactly how I wanted my hair to look. She's very professional and knows her craft. I'm so glad I found Shears and Chika!! I've already told people about her, and I am coming back tomorrow for my daughter's haircut. read more

I needed a trim and they were able to get me in that day. Holly did an amazing job deep shampooing my hair. She cut off all the dead ends and made it look beautiful. Overall a very cute salon and great place to get a cut. $30 for a trim read more

I went here because I wanted to try a new salon and it was a mistake. My hair was cut shorter than what I asked for and I have a big event coming up. I cried in the car because my hair wasn't what I wanted. My hair isn't the length I pointed at. I was also left with one side longer than the other. So I'm missing half my hair and it's lopsided. Last time here. read more

I called today for a spur of the moment appointment if available to have my hair colored and I was blown away! Sarah T did a phenomenal job and gave me EXACTLY what I wanted. Shear Artistry - All over color :) perfectly matched the picture I showed Sarah of what I wanted. - Hair Salons Near Me - Madison, Alabama

I took my 7 year old here after it was recommended by another mom. We sat in the waiting area for 20 minutes past her appointment time. Nobody said anything to us. I finally asked the receptionist how much longer and she checked and said Chika is behind, but almost done. Good to know! Finally, she came out and we went back. She didn't apologize for running late until she was finishing up my daughters hair. She hardly spoke the entire time. Then when I got home I noticed that her hair has crooked on one side. So then I had to trim it myself. Place was clean. Probably won't return- if I do I'll get another stylist. read more

Shear artistry has provided me with quality hair care over the last two years, but yesterday i was very disappointed. I went in for a simple style, loose curls with a regular iron, that took maybe 20 mins to do. I was charged $65! No shampoo, dry, etc....simply curling the ends of my hair. I called to make sure there was no mistake and they assured me that this is their going rate for "specialty" styles. She said they were charging $50, and have recently decided to up the price. For comparison, a very up-scale salon in Chattanooga TN, Hairbenders, charges $35 for this so called "specialty" style and this includes a shampoo & dry. This may just be the stylist in particular I used yesterday. I've used another stylist at the same salon that charged me half the price for the same style. I don't mind paying for good quality hair service, but $65 for a few curls? Take a hike! read more

My first experience at Shear Artistry was today, and I am absolutely so happy and pleased! Shelley is the wonderful curly hair specialist I was assigned to and most certainly glad I was! She did a phenomenal job on my devacut and catered to me the entire time, with such intent. She will definitely be my main hairstylist for now on for my cuts and styles! I'm so happy with my cut and thankful she helped me want to get my cut more often. And helped me put trust back into someone else's hands to do my hair! Thank you, Shelley read more

I went in for a cut as a walk in and came out very happy! My stylist Michelle was able to fit me in due to a short notice change in her schedule. I love the layout of the Salon. I feel like it's a very calming serene place and the way the Stylists are set up, it gives a real sense of privacy for the clients. Michelle took the time to talk to me about what I wanted, and I feel she did a terrific job. I went ahead and scheduled future appointments with her. read more

Loved this place! I had my hair done by Holly, a beautiful young lady with mounds of talent. We did the first of many stages of balayage for my upcoming wedding day next fall! She was very sweet and my hair turned out amazing! She helped me find the right shampoo and conditioner for my hair, brought my lifeless locks back from death, and even gave my little sister a nice nail color while my hair was being treated. Love love love this place and can't wait to come back in January! Highly recommend! read more

Finally I found someone who listen. Sarah cut my hair and it was perfect! I have nice, thick, wavy hair, but the person I'd gone to at Salon Sorella made a mess of my hair. Sarah understood the need for precision and need for detail and continuity to keep the waves in my hair from going crazy. I'm actually looking forward to my next haircut. Thanks, Sarah read more
