The various booths were informative and fun. My only complaint for the whole event was the amount of grasshoppers and occasional pile of horse poo that you'd come across. But it is an equestrian park so I expected the poo. As for the grasshoppers, they ended up on and in everything. A day later and I was still finding them in my car.

So naturally when they announced the festivities were back, so were we! ++ The local brewery, Elizabeth Brewing Company, had a booth set up and was serving up a killer prickly pear margarita beer that I just couldn't get enough of. ++ Can we talk about the food? Cause damn, were there some amazing food vendors. I'm a sucker for funnel cake. So I always insist on picking one up, and it never disappoints. There are tons of other options including tacos, shrimp po' boys, and so many more options. ++ Naturally, the mutton bustin' is the sweetest part of the show. Watching the littles hold on for dear life to a fluffy sheep is always the sweetest. ++ There's a ton of vendors selling just about everything you need. Belt buckles? Yep! Shirts? Yep! Cowboy hats? Yep! Window? For the love of god why are they selling window at the rodeo, but yep! ++ The people are always super friendly. Though I will say, with the "cowboy culture" gaining popularity (thanks Yellowstone) it's gotten a lot more crowded than previous years. Easy to see that The Elizabeth Stampede is a tradition we look forward to year after year. Can't wait to make our way back for a sunny day spent with friends.

While the tennis courts aren't great, the golf is fantastic and is a big part of what SGCC has to offer. It is, after all, a country club. This is a very nice little country club, tucked away among the residential neighborhoods of Southglenn. It's not big or fancy, but the memberships are some of the best value for recreational facilities in the area. They've got a 9-hole golf course, regulation-length swimming pool, and two tennis courts. The staff are very friendly and accommodating; the whole place is run with a very personal touch. The grounds are beautiful and lush, with mature trees and gorgeous flowerbeds; it's like a little slice of the countryside embedded in the heart of the suburbs!

After coming off a poor experience with another CO golf club we decided not to go through with the membership, Pradera was a breath of fresh air & a sanity check about what a real country club should be like. Coming from CA, the first thing we appreciate is the bang for your buck you get as a Summit member at this club. For vastly less money, we have access to 2 country clubs, better food at both, & 2 courses that don't look like they're one drought day away from being a sea of dead grass. When we signed up for our membership they even gave us a deal where we got a couple months free! I know my husband will say the golf was the most important factor for him in a club but it was the food for me. The menu's are not snooty & boring like our old club; we have a ton of fun choices & everything tastes fantastic everytime. I also love the clubhouse; it reminds me of the Grand Californian Hotel in Disneyland. We also love the course which is kept beautifully. The staff here are also SO genuinely nice & helpful. If I had two small knitpicks it would be that I wish there were more fruity cocktail options on the menu & that it was easier to get out onto the golf course (Summit membership helps mitigate this last one a lot). They hold so many tournaments on the weekends in the summer that it's hard to get out there & it books up fast regardless. However, just goes to show how beloved the course is!

There's only one tent with subpar options for ~$8-10. The best part of the festival are the whiskey tastings! We got there relatively early and signed up for Ardbeg. Once inside the tent, we were given little crackers, place mats with whiskey, and a walk through. We even got whiskey glasses for souvenirs! I especially loved being surrounded by thick heavy Scottish accents whichever way I turned. I'll be back again next year! Please work on your food options.

As far as Highland Games go, this is a pretty good event. It's well organized, there are a lot of options as far as what to see and do, and it's affordable. Last year they had a parade of classic European cars that was just incredible. And the dancing! You have to go and check out the dancing. It's a great experience, be it for a casual date or a family outing.
