For the first time last week I managed to have enough time before grocery shopping to have a wander around Happy Angels, an eye catching store for littlies. Often I am let down on closer inspection of kids clothes at the quality or the expense. So I was rapt and my two children overly spoiled by my new found discovery. Offering the adorable collections you can find at outlets such as Pumpkin Patch but at half the price in some cases Happy Angels made my grocery day unusually worthwhile. Grabbing bargains such as a dark denim jean/white dress shirt/pinstripe vest combo for my one year old boy for just $30 and a beautiful floral springtime dress for my daughter for $20 made me one happy mummy (don't know about angel!) indeed. And there were no pushy sales staff trying to sell me 30cm of fabric for $99, trying to convince me it's such great value at the same time. I was able to look around myself, make my selections and then have a nice chat about what I'd decided on when finalising my purchases. Happy Angels = happy grocery days!

Inside this delightful store is a treasure trove of restored vintage fashion in spectacular form and finish. Dorothy & Evelyn also carries vintage fashion for bubs and kids so if you're a fan of old-school cool, you have to check out the kids stuff. It also carries a unique collection of independent designer labels, so there's a good mix of contemporary and classic. On top of that, this store carries a large array of fashion accessories, with an emphasis on cute animals and graphic adorned pieces. My favourites include Dot&Eve horse, dove and owl necklaces, little peanut hair clips, Pigeonhole feather inspired necklaces and hand drawn and detailed jewellery from Lila ruby king. I also absolutely love the quirky homeware from cloud shaped chalkboard markers for potted plants and vintage inspired Dot&Eve animal figurines.

This store sells everything from maternity wear, to baby/kids wear, toys, prams, car seats, bottles, nursing pads, monitors, the list goes on. Conveniently located in chadstone shopping center, this mothercare isn't a huge store- but everything that should be there, is. The staff are very polite and friendly, and usually know exactly what you're after. There are also sales that seem to be constantly on, so the prices there are pretty good considering the quality of the products. My favorite items here are the children's toys, they sell a wide variety that you wouldn't find in an ordinary toy shop such as 'toy r us'. Mothercare is generally my one stop shop for all things baby. I hardly ever go in and leave empty handed. Definitely suggest visiting if you haven't before- good quality products at affordable prices. They also have a loyalty card system.

I say give it another 10 years and it'll be the Dandenong Hub (which is a shell of businesses adjacent to the plaza). Recently going back, this place just doesn't feel safe. It's still busy but I don't understand the need to be here. It's not convenient and there has been a really sad attempt to refurbish the area, making if brighter and adding more stores (which I think will soon close given the lack of foot traffic in some areas). Regardless, I choose to stay away from now on. If you're intent on a shopping trip, head to Fountain Gate or Knox instead. There is absolutely no reason to come here anymore.

Here you can fear for your life in one of the more aggressive shopping centre carparks, chow down on something deep fried for lunch with all the kids skipping school, and bum smokes of some guy tottering about with a bottle in hand. On the plus side, the police regularly patrol the food court, so it's quite safe. On the extra plus side, the shops are filled to the brim with spare change clothes. $2 singlet? I'll just overlook the likely dubious ethical practices that went into making it and enjoy the lack of expense.

Selling clothes and accessories for babies and kids up to about five years of age, this place is so overpriced, you could go to Chanel and have your kid decked out in designer gear for around the same cost. It's not only that, the sales staff are rude, the store is forever closed at inconvenient and random times and the sales prices are an insult to parents intelligence. And in my opinion the apparel is not so nice you'd want to pay in excess of $80 +. Definitely not my cup of tea.
