It was a stop on the way back home, but you can easily spend a few hours here browsing. Even leaving, everyone commented that they'd come back to it. Maybe just with more spending money. If you need to go present shopping, get your gift giving ideas here. With so much for your eyes to glaze over, bed frames, dishes, lace, a room full of movie memorabilia (where I spent majority of my time), old school cameras, and so much more; you are sure to find something here. When you exit the main Packing House building, follow the signs and just outside is an outdoor village, with can you guess- even more shops. I only took a brief walk around to see the premises, but I could not believe there were so many antique shops all in one place. Hungry for a nibble? There's a cool cafe that is an old train car in between the Packing House and the village. It's located directly outside of the Tyabb train station, and my whole visit here caught my expectations off guard.

Alongside several other smaller antique and craft/ junk warehouses in the nearby area, Tyabb Packing House is THE place to catch all sorts of great items. These include high end antiques, including bed frames, lac and cutlery, through to great junk - second hand or pre-loved mid-20th century items. Lots of homewares, display cabinets (so great for other shop owners looking for items) and posters for movie lovers. For those who are checking every nook & cranny, they have kindly organised a cafe (Elixir) in the middle-back of the Packing House and there is also the Red Rattler train carriage food outlet as well as toilets onsite. Therefore, all; set for hours of exploring and picking up some great bargains.

And the Mornington Racecourse is a premier destination for thoroughbred racing, corporate entertaining and major events. Voted the number one country racecourse in Victoria on three separate occasions, the Mornington Racing Club offers "city professionalism with peninsula warmth". The venue, with views from Mornington across to the Moorooduc Plains, boasts a renovated Grandstand offering function spaces that can cater from 6 people to 600. With The Peninsula Cup being held this Sunday, expect to see large crowds flock the local track. If the races aren't your thing, The Mornington Racecourse also delivers its monthly (second Sunday of every month) craft market. The well treed site provides shade in summer and protection in the colder months, and hosts stalls of locally made arts, crafts, homewares, foods, wines and more. Beware, on market days and race days, traffic in and around the site can get quite hectic so be prepared to battle the crowds.

It's well stocked, often I stumble across books here that I haven't seen in much larger bookstores. I was impressed with the range of Lonely Planet travel books as an example. Furthermore, the staff are extremely knowledgeable about books. Almost every time I'm in here I overhear the staff having detailed conversations with customers about particular authors or novels. Today I found out that Beaumaris Books runs specials events for newly released books. These events are typically hosted at Malt cafe across the road (there's loads of information on Beaumaris Books' website or you can join their email list). If you're in the area, Beaumaris Books is well worth a look!
