This is a review update: Shaw's has made some really nice improvements to their store in Wiscasset. They have updated and modernized. The produce looks better and the meats look better. My wife and I still spend about $50 more on groceries at Shaws than Market Basket or Walmart. Shaws please listen to me, get rid of your gimmicks. I hate scouring the app looking for deals with digital coupons and I'm not the only one I'm sure. Get rid of the fab five deals and just give us the deals. It's confusing. Also stop doing must buy three and limit two this is the main things that drives me and others away from Shaws. Shaws could be a really nice grocery store to shop at if they just made a few more improvements. What really turns me off from going there is they have started asking for everyones ID regardless of age, lets say I have a grey mustache and several bags and lines in my face. Stopped in this evening and picked up some ZERO alcohol beer and wine and they wanted my ID! I just left everything on the counter and they lost a sale of about 50 bucks, but they didn't seem to care at all. I do not want my license entered into a machine at all! We go to Shaw's as our go-to when we forget something from bigger stores like Hannafords or Market Basket in Topsham. The store is okay, not many selections of meat or seafood, and the prices are higher. But this is 10 minutes from the house, so it's convenient without driving to bigger grocery stores that are 30 minutes away. The store has been remodeled and is cleaner from last year. read more

This Shaw's was completely remodeled in 2025. The upgrade is astounding. The selection has improved and the low prices have remained.

Mediocre grocery store but it is OK in a pinch considering there are no really large stores in this area. It has the basics you need and I am sure that is fine with the locals.Wide aisles but it could have been cleaner. We always stop at local grocery stores to see what different items they may carry that we don't have in our local stores. Nothing different here. read more

Shaws is not my go-to grocery store in Maine, but we were looking for a handful of items - Diet Moxie, potato salad, and a specific brand of hot sauce that I've seen literally everywhere else (I know it seems like a weird selection, but they were odds and ends that would have elevated the awesome picnic food we had packed) - and they had none of those things. I asked a manager for help, and he had no idea why half the soda shelves were empty ("distributors just give us whatever they want, we have no control over it," he said; FALSE: I would later find out that because of the aluminum shortage lots of soda companies have cut back their product line), he had never heard of Cholula hot sauce and said that their Shaws didn't make potato salad (o rly?: https://www.instacart.com/products/17840893-signature-cafe-homestyle-potato-salad-16-oz). The store wasn't particularly clean, either. What happened, Shaws? I feel like you used to be better than Hannaford, but over the years I will *always* choose a Hannaford over a Shaws now. I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up my DUG order today! Inside each bag, was a little bag of complementary pistachios, and a candy filled Easter egg!! Way to go on the customer satisfaction! read more

So an update the store in my view has been getting better with making sure dates on items are not outdated when you go to buy them still need to work on dusting a little bit but improvement improvement read more

check expiration. we aren't use to looking at expiration on new purchases but from the taste we thought to look to discover and expiration date of February 2023 it's now almost July and may of 2023. those are the two we thought to look. Also their customer service is far from adequate. instead of engaging with their customer they joke and talk amongst each other not even making eye contact. Oh Wiscasset Shaws Try a little harder Today is April 25 and I had to scour the refrigerated case for milk not dated April 11 (2 weeks ago) The manager was running around like a chicken with her head cut off and only 2 lanes open up front When entering lane 5 I was told rudely "Ma'm aisle 3 is open !" I said, " Yes. And that lane has 2 carts and this has 1" I realized why she was so peeved when halfway through my checkout she switched off her light And told the woman behind me "This lane is closed! Im goin on break!" The bagger was staring off into space (Neither the cashier or bagger made eye contact or spoke to me) and when the harried manager came by he asked when HIS break was! To top it off when I got home the juice from the raw chicken had leaked all over the other groceries No extra plastic bag to wrap it in Just threw it in with boxes that I'm sure pierced the cellophane of the chicken package Wiscasset Shaws is especially bad Not much labor pool in this town Get your groceries ( and anything else you need) in Bath or Damariscotta and just drive fast through the hell hole that is Wiscasset read more

First and foremost, the front-end staff are incredibly friendly and efficient. I love walking into a supermarket where it's east to recognize my favorite cashier(s) so I can jump into their line to check out. The service ranges from okay to absolutely incredible. Here's the problem: the food there is awful. A good example is the produce section; where many of the products are wrinkled and soft, sometimes moldy, and generally inadequate to other supermarkets. The meats are okay at best, but are visibly not as good in quality as those of most competitors. The coolers and freezers there seem to be improperly maintained, so there is a good chance that you may buy a product that is either moldy, sour, or freezer-burned. In hindsight... I've lived in Wiscasset for a year and a half and have had to make complaints about rotten food several times, which has made me inspect expiration dates on everything I buy there. Sniff your fish before you leave the store. Check expiration dates on your meat and dairy products. I bought a package of dried pasta only to realize once I was home that it was two months past the expiration date. Employees are polite and will always return your money with a receipt without your having to return the stinking purchase. Unfortunately there are no other options in this small town. The interior was slightly darker and a bit wornout but they had a lot of great choices. It definitely served its purpose. Really moiste and sweet carrot cake, lobster for $4.99/ pound, and a bunch of good deals. read more

This store is a joke!!!! They never have enough of the three day sale items ( the three day sale is a joke in itself but that's corporate). They are constantly running out of gallons of store brand water. The prices are higher than both Bath and Brunswick. Being a small store the selection sucks as well (I get the selection being an issue with the small store, but not the three day sale items or the water which is a staple product). Many employees at checkout are more interested in talking to customers about whatever rather keeping the line going, this is particularly annoying in the morning when you're trying to get something quick and get to work. I wish there was a zero star option. We are out of towners in the area for a wedding. So we stopped in for a few things and to grab some quick lunch. For starters it was lunch time and there wasn't any hot chicken out already made. So I'm not sure why they waste electricity heating the hot food stands. So my mom asked if they did fried chicken and the woman behind the deli counter told her it would take 11 minutes. She said that was fine and we walked around the store. About 10-15 minutes later she asked how much longer and the woman told her 15 minutes. We questioned it and the woman rudely snapped that it was 11 minutes to prepare and 15 minutes to cook. We decided it wasn't worth the trouble and grabbed a few pre made wraps and went to checkout. My sister went to lane 6 while we were in another lane. She stood in front of the cashier a few minutes but the cashier ignored her. So she asked if she was open because her light was on and she responded "no, I don't know why that's on". So she came down to our register and by the time we checked out we looked over and she was checking out another customer. Terrible. The produce selection is brown, wilted, rotting and belongs in a dumpster. The selection is very limited for everything else. All carts are wobbly and broken. Service is very friendly, though. read more
