No idea why, but I always love visiting grocery stores I have never been to or even heard of for that matter. Was back east recently for a trip to Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire. This place was decent. Didn't have a lot of things I wanted, but it was conveniently located across from my hotel and I could walk my dog over there. So it was a win win :) Staff was friendly, store was clean, and its very large. Not a bad place. Prices seemed ok. Nothing crazy expensive. My review is not really on the selection. It's about the order and drive up pick up delivery. Unless I order a fresh cut meat or poultry item that I want to hand pick I order everything this way now. I have Never had my order screwed up, they always ask permission to sub something, they are quick and handle food with care and when they bring items out to your car they are kind and respectful. I do not go to market basket or Walmart because of this pick up service. Love it read more

This is the worst grocery store in NH. Always out of primary staples, constantly eliminating name brands for their aweful "signature" store brand. Half of the items you pick up are already or very nearly expired especially dairy and pharmacy products. And they have a death grip monopoly on the town of Merrimack. They are just a terrible chain. I give you the latest offering of "fresh" bananas as an example of the best they have to offer. Going to start using other supermarkets even though it will be much less convenient.. This is where I do almost all my grocery shopping, I like all the people I've interacted with. But today I bought a 3 pack of porterhouse steaks and the two tucked under the top one had the filet portion removed. I assume to sell as just filets. Was in there yesterday for 1 item. Went to the 10 or less lane and there was a woman in the lane with many more than 10. They did not direct her to the other lanes just rang her through. The guy in front of me with 2 things was pacing and real annoyed. He did not give her the 6 foot space and had his 2 things on the counter before she had all hers in her cart. I payed for my 1 thing and she was still in the lot. I told her she needed to go through the regular lanes with over 10. She started yelling at me saying she had a bad day and was entitled to go through 10 or less as she did not want to wait and I was wrong and a bitch for pointing out her misbehavior. Sorry will never go back there if they cater to entitled people. The I'm entitled behavior has to go. Sick of these entitled people. The whole point of 10 or less is to get people with 10 or less out of the store quickly. Stores need to ENFORCE THIS!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Deceptive marketing and disappointing customer service. Do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere...you will only leave frustrated and paying more. UPDATE: You want my story...here it is... Today at about 8am I went to the Continental Blvd Merrimack, NH store. I pass this store everyday, but had a couple bad experiences years ago and so do not shop there. A few days ago I was looking at the flyer and saw some good sale prices and decided to give Shaws another shot. I signed up for the app and clipped the digital coupons. I was sent a $5 my first order and clipped that as well. 2 days past and this morning I went to the store on my way home from dropping kids at school. I was honestly testing it out...so only got about 10 items that were on sale. I went to the register and tell them this is my first time using the app and asked for help. When I had signed up for the app, it gives you the option to register with email or mobile number. I am sick of too many spam texts, so purposefully used email. At the register the cashier asks me to enter my phone number. I explain to her that I did not associate it with my account. She calls over a different girl to help. The younger casher asks for my phone. She then says that the only way to use the coupons is to put in my phone number. At this point, I just want to get going to work, so say fine and give her my cell. She types it in and then tells me that since I have now updated my account, I won't be able to use the digital coupons for at least 24 hours. I ask if she can simply scan them from the app...she tells me she doesn't know how to do it, so I will just have to use the coupons at a different time. I try to explain that I only came here this AM, in order to use the coupons. She says she doesn't know how to override the system and there is nothing she can do. Additionally, she said if she just manually enter items I would still have the coupons and so could use them again. (As in, I could cheat the store.) At the end, after almost 20 mins in the checkout line I left the store frustrated and spending more for items than was promised on the digital coupons. It was incredibly frustrating that they thought that just telling me to come back tomorrow was a fine resolve. I absolutely despise this store. What kind of supermarket doesn't have an express lane? The idiot running the checkout says oh we have all these cashiers. That doesn't help me when I'm buying two items and their carts are full! They also jack up their prices then give you a "sale". I do most of my shopping at ALDI and I will tell you - I save 25-50% on my groceries. I needed chipotle peppers in a can shaws-$2.79 then I saw them at ALDI-99 CENTS!! I just spoke with the store manager. He sighs and says hello steve in a voice sounding annoyed. He tried to tell me most people would rather ring up their own groceries then to have an express lane. The only saving grace of this hell forsaken place is that they have cartons of cigarettes for cheaper than anywhere else in the area. Otherwise, this place is so expensive and the store doesn't carry so many of the items that I usually buy when I'm at MB. Hear Merrimack's prayers grocery store Gods!!! We want a Market Basket! UPDATE: Rating raised from 1 star to 3 stars I am very thankful that Shaws did call me to hear the whole story and went above and beyond to make it right for me. It wasn't necessary, so it was nice to hear they did it anyways. I am also very happy that they looked into what happened and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again. I am nervous to try them again, but I am going to try the delivery service again next week and see how it goes. I will hold my breath until the delivery gets here, but I can tell you, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me - this might be; fool me 4 times and I am done with you for good. Not done shopping here because really their produce is the best I have ever seen in a grocery store - this one and the store in Windham NH, they are amazing as well, but I will be done with their delivery service. NOT that this review will make a difference as there are already so many bad reviews, but I thought I would give them another shot. I used to shop at the Windham NH location as their produce was far superior than Hannafords selection. I started doing the online delivery and had nothing but problems with orders so I cancel my subscription and went back to Hannaford's. I work in the propane industry so right now I am working 60 - 65 hours a week and have no time to get any errands done. I figured I would give them another shot, placed my order paid way more than I would have at Hannaford (worth it for the convenience), paid the delivery fee and put in a big tip for the driver. Come to find out they use DoorDash ......so why in the world would I use Shaw's site to order I would just go through DoorDash where there is no delivery fee. Didn't know that at the beginning of the order - whatever I know for next time. I get a text at 3pm saying my order was delivered??? Nothing at the front door, nothing on the doorbell cam, no dogs barking - went outside looked around everywhere no groceries. went to Shaw's website and went through the chat service and the woman had no idea what she was doing, she came back on after 5 minutes and said, well it says it was delivered.....ummmm, yeah I know it does and what I am telling you is there are no groceries anywhere near my house and to please contact the driver to find out where he left them. She said she couldn't find the driver - I gave her his name - then she couldn't find out who to call and that they probably just checked out early saying that they delivered it already - then she says give it to 4pm and if they haven't shown up to contact her again.....4pm??? seriously, my groceries were reported as being delivered at 3pm and I have to wait a whole hour to figure out how to get them?? Now we were lucky today as it was a warm day around 42 degrees - perfect to melt some of the snow and ice, but not good for all the ice cream, milk and frozen food I had in the order. Then I was told to call the local store, which I did - Kudo's for Cameron for actually trying to find the phone number for the driver Gustavo. Cameron did call me back and told me that there was no phone number left for this guy and he couldn't reach out to him but he did receive a phone call from someone on the other side of town that they had groceries delivered to their house. He told me the address and the addresses are not even close to being similar - I have no idea where this idiot driver got the idea that it was OK to leave groceries anywhere he pleased. My husband had to drive all around our town to find out where he left them - Gustavo left them at a trailer park and we didn't get the right address to the park we just got a lot number. After 20 minutes we finally found the park. - the absolute saddest part is that the old man who lived at this address just lost his wife about a month or so ago and he thought his neighbors had ordered some groceries for him because he knew they shopped at Shaws. How freakin' sad is that???, but I have to admit it did calm my husband down as he was going to bring the groceries back to the store and start screaming at everyone. So long, very long story short - The items were shopped for starting at 1:41pm - got the text that at 2:06 the order was completed and that the order was being assembled at 2:42pm the order is on it's way.....my husband got home from running all around town at 4:40.....I will be bringing back to the store tomorrow as all the frozen stuff was melted. They can charge DoorDash for the groceries and I will go drop them off at Gustavo's house, or any random house in the town he lives in! read more

Convenient location but service is terrible. Worst produce anywhere and stuff they carry is always changing. Avoid if possible.

This store has a very limited selection of goods. I have to watch the expiration dates like a hawk as many of the bread and dairy products are near end of shelf life. I avoid this store at all costs and shop strive to shop at the nearby Hannaford at Exit 6 (much better selection, fresh goods and great produce section). I wish I could give less than one star. Make sure you check dates on everything you buy here. They obviously don't have an effective system in place to make sure there are no expired products on the shelves. Ugh. This place is awful! We were visiting from out of town and stopped in to pick up some supplies. We got to the checkout and I didn't have the store loyalty card, so I inquired about it and asked if I could get one or borrow one. The cashier looked at me blankly. It was her first day, apparently. She had no idea. A bagger then explained that I needed to download an app to join the loyalty program. There was no other way. Then he walked away. Everyone just stood there, dumbly, while I tried to download the app to save about $10 on groceries. Finally, a girl in line a couple rows over agreed to let us use her phone number so that we could pay and get the fudge out of there. Then we went to grab the bag of ice that we had told the cashier we were getting, and she told us that she had forgotten to ring it up, so we would need to pay for it separately. I wish I had read the reviews before we went into this store. I would have driven 10 minutes further to get what we needed. read more

I generally like shopping at Shaw's, but the layout to this one is weird. It seems like the produce department takes up half the store. It is really hard to run in and out at this one. The shelves are very high and very close together..it feels almost claustrophobic at times. Lots of blind spots. Its easy to bump into other people, especially coming in and out of the aisles. I've been in this store four separate times and I don't think I haven't had a smooth transaction yet. Some issue has come up that is a relatively simple fix that ends up turning a mountain out of a molehill because the cashiers are either not enabled to fix or don't know how to fix. The later usually being the case. I'm talking easy, easy stuff like voids for overrings, groceries forgotten that the cashier bagged, needing change for cashback, some coupons, etc. Lots of high school aged kids up front who seem to be more interested in gabbing than paying attention to the transaction....well more than most grocery stores. read more
