I'm only giving it three stars because I appreciate the selection of organic food at this store, but for no other reason - the check out experience is pretty bad. Clearly they don't have enough employees to staff all the checkout lanes, so, having only a few open at a time, and then only 4 self checkout stations, it's always jammed at the front of the store. Store needs remodeled up front to accommodate more self checkout stations and reduce crowding! People trying to shop the aisles can't even get around the aisle head because of all the people waiting to checkout. read more

Every time we have come to shop here we have found what we are looking for. The produce section is filled with plenty of fresh items. The young lady who took care of us at the deli counter was very nice and quick to take care of us. It is a rather large grocery store with plenty of the items we look for and purchase. read more

One of the worst supermarkets I've ever shopped in. And no matter what day of the week or time of year the shelves are half barren. Given the size and space of the store their marketing decisions are extremely limited in the variety and brands of what they do carry. What they don't carry is extensive. More and more they are pushing their own brand at the expense of know standards. I wish Price Chopper would (could?) expand or another chain (Hannafords, Price Chopper?) could take over the Shaw's space. read more

A generally good grocery store that has a big problem with overcharging for products. The produce scales frequently show much heavier weights and charge higher prices than marked. I notice the mistakes are NEVER in the customers favor. If something is marked down, it often does not scan with the marked down price. I wrote this review while waiting on hold for a refund d for yet another instance of them overcharging me. Yep, "all team members are still busy." C'mon Shaws, you can do better. read more

An absolute abomination of a grocery store. Merchandising done by what must clearly be a a bunch of 80+ yr old white people. Bland and Tasteless products as far as the eye can. Consistently overpriced, with a ranger of produce that's either past peak or a week or more till edible (avacados that are so hard the could be used in foundation)! Meat and Fish that well let's just say the horse meat taco hell serves up is better. Tip... take the drive, gas is cheaper... and head to Albany for Whole Foods, Market32 and Trader Joe's! They have stuff, Produced area is a little messy. I put one gallon water on the belt, left 2 in the cart, and before I could tell him I have 3 of those the checkout lady behind was screening he's go 3 of the waters, she said twice extremely loud. Maybe just Vermont people, lol read more

They tend to be out of stock all the time and they have a pitiful produce selection. It's sad that they are one of the biggest in town but yet I really hate shopping there. And at the beginning of Covid and even now sometimes, they do not enforce the mask mandate. Even their own employees were wearing the masks under their chin. I have to drive a long way to do my shopping. read more

It's a grocery store... I don't get the poor reviews, which seem to be 5 years old at this point. It's much larger than the Price Chopper we went to up the street and had everything we needed. If you're visiting just head up to the service desk to register for a savings card so you get the sales. Entrance is part of a roundabout so eyes peeled. Very expensive, produce is awful (it's not fresh in store, and lasts for about 1 day after you buy), the app never works correctly for coupons. Unfortunately it's the only "real" grocery store around. I drive to Albany (1.5 hours) to shop as much as I can. It's worth the gas. read more

Pat, one of the grocery managers, provides the best customer service! Our son has autism with severe food aversions. One of the only couple of things he will eat are the store brand organic vegetable chips. When all area Shaws within a few hours of where we live, were out of stock, we panicked! We called the manufacturers and they were not able to ship to us directly. I called Pat at Shaws in Manchester, VT and he went above and beyond making phone calls and finally finding the chips to be sent to their store. Then he called us to give us the fantastic news! I'm picking up 4 cases first thing in the morning. Our family can't thank Pat and Shaws enough for taking the time to help and going the extra mile for their customers. read more

Perfectly average supermarket experience. The bar is fairly low being in a small town, but Shaws makes efforts to source some local ingredients, yet will still cover all your basics. They have a beer and wine section, and some prepared foods. The poultry looked appealing. They have made an effort toward improving their customer service, so you'll notice a lot of smiles and greetings here. I found that very pleasant, and the staff was not being disingenuous but truly helpful in their directions. They have a couple aisles devoted to organic/non-GMO foodstuffs, as well as some organic produce, although the greens and fruits could be more bountiful. I have found Vermont, in general, a little lacking in the organic berries and fruit category. It may be somewhat unfair a comparison, but if you're familiar with Whole Foods, Shaws has about 5% the organic selection of the big WH. That said, you'll get almost everything you need here, and I have noticed they have been offering some non-meat centric items, such as Franklin Farms veggie burgers and balls, which are fun. There is a town butcher and cheese monger for that sort of thing elsewhere. read more

It is a full grocery store and the staff seem nice. They start a save on gas program ( save X number of cents off per gallon with every X amount spent) then that program vanishes. Then they get rid of their loyalty card claiming lower prices. What a joke, their prices are the highest. Save your receipts, compare prices, the numbers do not lie. read more

This is the only game in town, unless you want to travel another 20 minutes south to Bennington and Hannaford's or go to the Price Chopper which hasn't been renovated yet. Poorly set up. The store doesn't carry the same merchandise over time and then the customer service reps tell you it never existed. There is no system to look up merchandise they have or do not have. They will tell you they "can't do it". They did away with self check out and now you have to wait on endless lines with check out "kids" who throw your groceries around, put your milk on its side so it leaks, package frozen food with household cleaners and generally don't care. They also did away with the "shaw's" card. The app doesn't work either. All this while the "10 item or less lines" are empty with check out people standing idly by. read more

This store is horrendous. After years of sucking it up and shopping here, I've finally decided I will never go back. Other than being your only option for 20 miles, there is nothing to recommend this place. It's management is appallingly poor, it's staff is beyond rude, and it is wholly unreliable. The lines are a nightmare, with no bangers, nowhere to go but into the aisles, and checkout staff who make obnoxious comments about what you're buying and act like they are doing you a favor when they bag a half dozen items. The only people ruder than the staff are the second home owners and tourists who shop there. Trust me, with an excellent butcher and fish purveyor in town, there is nothing this store has to offer. Make the 20 mile drive to Bennington. It will be worth it. read more
